Season 2009: Rules
Updates, to make scheduling life easier for AutoCross rounds. See the rules for the annoyingly gory details.

In Summary:

There will be three heats after hotlaps, each heat will have an even (give or take one or two depending on participation) number of participants. Division will go as follows:

Heat 1 will have racers who qualified 1st, 4th, 7th, etc.
Heat 2 will have racers who qualified 2nd, 5th, 8th, etc.
Heat 3 will have racers who qualified 3rd, 6th, 9th, etc.

The TOP TWO from each heat will automatically advance into the "A" Main. The remaining drivers are divided up into thirds. The first third will go to the "B" Main, the middle third to the "C" Main and the back third to the "D" Main. Example: 20 drivers qualify. 20 / 3 = 6.667 per heat race. We'll then say that there were 7 in Heats 1 and 2, and 6 in Heat 3. The top two from each heat are discounted, leaving 5, 5, and 4 respectively. In this case, we would take the first two into the "B" Main from Heats 1 and 2, The middle 2 from Heats 1 and 2 to the "C" Main and the last from Heats 1 and 2 to the "D" Main. We would then take the top from Heat 3 into the "B" Main, The second to the "C", and the last two to the "D". Summary based on heat finishing order and the scenario above:

Heat 1: 1st + 2nd --> "A" Main. 3rd & 4th --> "B" Main, 5th & 6th --> "C" Main, 7th --> "D" Main.
Heat 2: 1st + 2nd --> "A" Main. 3rd & 4th --> "B" Main, 5th & 6th --> "C" Main, 7th --> "D" Main.
Heat 3: 1st + 2nd --> "A" Main. 3rd --> "B" Main, 5th --> "C" Main, 5th & 6th --> "D" Main

This would give us currently 6 for the "A" Main, 5 for the "B" and "C" Main, and 4 for the "D" Main.

The top 3 of each "Main" advance to the "A" Main.

The grid for the "A" Main is set as follows, format is Position --> Source:

1st --> Heat 1 1st Place
2nd --> Heat 1 2nd Place
3rd --> Heat 2 1st Place
4th --> Heat 2 2nd Place
5th --> Heat 1 1st Place
6th --> Heat 3 2nd Place
7th --> "B" Main 1st Place
8th --> "B" Main 2nd Place
9th --> "B" Main 3rd Place
10th --> "C" Main 1st Place
11th --> "C" Main 2nd Place
12th --> "C" Main 3rd Place
13th --> "D" Main 1st Place
14th --> "D" Main 2nd Place
15th --> "D" Main 3rd Place

Of course, if 15 or less people show up, this whole procedure is rendered moot and we let all 15 race. We scrap the heats and Sub-Mains, and just do one, slightlylonger, "A" Main. This season, if this latter process must be used, the Race run will be 54+1 Laps.

Please note that the Mains laps have changed from previous version.

Heats stay at 8+1 Laps.
"B", "C", and "D" Mains are now 20+1 laps each.
"A" Main is now at 45+1 Laps.

Please feel free to ask if you're confused.
Updated rules to version 1_02.

This version changes the lengths of the races.

Permanent tracks now have a sprint and a feature race. Sprint races are the least number of laps to attain (without being under) 25 km. Feature Races are the least number of laps to attain (without being under) 50 km.

Sprint Races afford half points, with any remainder (e.g. 22.5 for the win, being half of 45) will be rounded up to the nearest whole number (e.g. 23).

Autocross rounds will have heat races of 4 laps. B, C, and D mains 10 laps. A Main 30 laps. In the event 15 or less show up for an Autocross round, the races will be 35 laps long with the pace lap.

Permanent circuits will still remain standing starts.

Very nice Deko!

Start order in feature race will be the same as finishing pos in sprint race? Or reverse grid of some sort?

Reverse grid of anywhere between top 6 and 10 for feature race.

For lulz and to spice things up.

Great decision. Hopefully this will attract a few more drivers
keep it up!
Some updates here late in season:

Added "Chase Cup" shite.

Also changed again the format of the autocross events (wahey only one left this season) - instead of a full heats system, if we get more than 15, 12th on back will get to race in a "shootout" of 5 laps to see who takes 12th-15th for the race.

See it http://newdimensionracing.com/ ... inifbm-menu/minifbm-rules
