You can check out the quali dates and sign in already :)

[EDIT]
Quali signup no longer needed... just wait until we announce the next quali date and join one of the servers :)

How many drivers are allowed per quali session?

Vykos69
8th May 2007, 20:36
eh, how many threads you wanna start in the wrong section for it? I think the organisation should be done in events/league subforum.

Besides that I have the same Q like schneefee ;)

ORION

You join the server, drive a couple of laps until you got a fast one, and leave the server ;)
There will be enough servers so you can find a place to drive.

joshdifabio
9th May 2007, 13:34
So, can only one driver from each team take part in qualifying? And only in one of the sessions? Everything is really unclear at the moment.

Who long will the qualifing session be? 1hour? 2 hours?

SchneeFee

@Orion: can u please answer all questions not only the last one - like u also did in the other thread.

how many drivers per server during quali?
what time will the race start?

DeadWolfBones

+ clarification on the patch to be used. if X isn't out by race time will you use W17? I for one would prefer to have as many cars per server as possible, and would be ok with using W17 (X is preferable, obviously).

I've read in the german forum a post from Orion and he says that the latest test patch will be used.

huh I answered those 2 already, didnt I?
But maybe I forgot to post here aswell, and wrote that only in the German forum? anyways...

Race start: 14:00 UTC (16:00 in Austria and Germany ;) )
For the quali there will be enough servers, and you can chose one.

We are going to use the latest patch, which is W17 now.
At least he official W patch will NOT be used.

You must enter the team ID, not the name (I changed this because some people had problems with the login due to special chars in the team name, which must be escaped to html entities...)

Will W0 still be used during quali? This is quite an important point for TBO and GTR teams.

Edit: We still don't have any answers regarding qualifying. Can only one driver from each team take part in quali and can they only drive in one quali session? Also, how long are the quali sessions?

From the German forum:

"1 Driver of your team is allowed to participate on 1 of the 6 offered qualification sessions. The driver has the oppertunity to drive a fast lap with one hour. If you shortcut your lap will be deleted this is especially significant for the turn from the Oval back to the infield, and the turn/chicane towards the start/finish - straight and turn 1 on the lap."

ORION
9th May 2007, 19:39
boring? they will be busy like hell when they are being lapped a couple of times each lap ;)

And btw Im sorry for not having posted all the info here, I just didnt read all the posts in the German forum, and my team mate didnt tell me he posted an imortant info there, so I couldnt post it here :)

For the next race we're definately going for only one forum hehe :D

Yeah, I really feel that it's kind of a cruel move to make this an international event and then confine 90% of the info to a German forum.

There needs to me much clearer communication in the future (preferably starting now). :)

Well here is the German 24H Race forum if anyone is interested:

http://lfs.foren.4players.de/viewforum.php?f=49

Edit: I think it may say in this thread (http://lfs.foren.4players.de/viewtopic.php?t=16388) that qualifying will infact take place with the latest test patch, and not W0 as someone was told.

DeadWolfBones
10th May 2007, 00:12

I posted on zie German forum. This was my reply:

"Hi, yes you are right. We will drive qualifying and race always with the newest testpatch. So for the qualy it seems to be testpatch w17 atm. But for the race we hope to get the new patch x. Otherwise we will drive the race with the latest testpatch that is stable.

The organisation decided this way to get more cars on the track and for using the new balancing in the classes."

As he said, the latest testpatch, So qualy will be at W21 or any higher testpatch if it gets published by scawen before one of the qualifying sessions (also officially stated - but only in german).

@N I K I: I also ranted about this in the german forums a few minutes ago. Did not get a clear answer (i.e. Changing the server's version to W21) yet ;).

DeadWolfBones
14th May 2007, 12:33
And also, how will it be decided?

Will you split each class into thirds and combine those thirds to make server grids? i.e., top 1/3 of the GTRs plus top 1/3 of the nGTRs etc etc?

If you do that, of course, there's no proper way to take 1/3 of the XFG/XRG class, or the TBO class. Would you put all TBOs on one server, all LRFs on another, all XFG/XRG on the third?

thats what i am expecting.:D

Nobo
14th May 2007, 12:58
I honestly hope they make 4 servers, you dont have the standard of driving in a "community race" as you have it in a MoE race, so 25 cars on track could end up in a mess, especially for the smaller cars.

I personally think that the classes in which only a handful of teams are competing, should not be broken up. For example, there are currently only two cars in the bottom class, 5 in the TBO class and 4 driving the LX6. It would probably be more enjoyable for the drivers in those classes if they weren't split up.

DeadWolfBones
14th May 2007, 14:44
I agree. Therefore, I think that if there are going to be three servers (split as evenly as possible: 25/25/24), the best split would be like so:

Server 1:
15 GTR (Positions 1-15)
6 nGTR (Positions 44-49)
4 LX6 (Positions 64-67)

Server 2:
14 GTR (Positions 16-29)
6 nGTR (Positions 50-56)
5 TBO (Positions 68-72)

Server 3:
14 GTR (Positions 30-43)
8 nGTR (Positions 57-63)
2 XFG/XRG (Positions 73-74)

*qual positions, obviously

I second that

DeadWolfBones
14th May 2007, 15:54
...or did you mean that all of the slower classes should be concentrated on one server (LRF/TBO/GT)? That'd be 11 cars.

At that point you could either even it out by giving that server 13 of the slowest GTRs/nGTRs, or you could leave them alone and have the other two servers run at max capacity (32 on one server, 31 on the other).

Personally, I'd rather see the car load more evenly spread out for two reasons:

1. I like the challenge of having a lot of different cars on the track.
2. Though I like having a large number of cars on track, 25 is probably a lot better for everyone fps/lag-wise than 32.

So, for those reasons, I'd prefer the division I outlined in that earlier post.

DeadWolfBones is very close to what we are currently planning to do... ;)

But however, things can change in the last 2 quali sessions (because only 3/4 of all teams that signed up drove a hotlap, and I got a "few" pms from people who couldnt participate, asking for another quali, we are going for 2 more :) )

the date for the last quali will be announced shortly.

It's especially important to my team since our XRR is sort of on the bubble in terms of making server 1.

Well Chrinaeg told me today that he isnt going to make a quali for just one team that missed the quali. However, when I compare the quali results table and the list of teams that signed in, I count more than 20 and not 1... dunno.
Maybe we should make a list of teams that still need to quali.

ORION,

Whats up. A couple of questions.

A) Qualifying. Can we still race?

B) Spectating. Will the race have LFSTV broadcasts? Are there any other spectating programs that work with the test patches?

Hope you haven't fallen out of the loop of info...

lfstv and the spectator dont work in the patch because the relay needs to be updated (thats what WolleT said).

About the Quali:
Im trying to reach Chrinaeg but he was offline the whole last day. If he doesnt show up today, I will decide about a quali date with the other admins.

I'm interested too ,if the GT/i class will start ,in rules is "A Class needs at least 3 Cars to be able to start. If the Class has less than 3 Cars, the team can decide to take another car." hmm now we are only two cars Qualified ,,we must hope that on 19.5.07 will minimum one car of our class be qualified.
And another question ,,when we where able to change cars ,we must qualifi with the new ones?

dawesdust_12

I know, thats the car in which I'm driving. hell, I'll take a last place start, its a bloody endurance race, I just need to start and qualifying has seemed to **** me over every single time, first my G25 broke, and now when I have a wheel to use and free time, there is no qualifying place, and when there is a qualifying place, I am involved in a very important lacrosse game.

dawesdust_12
18th May 2007, 23:28
I can do an SPR, or my PB on LFSW (which isn't even cutting the chicanes as much as I could to gain time, and is a pretty mediocre lap even for me.)

Theres a quick lap I just did with my momo that I pulled out of the rubble, semi-broken (SO AWFUL FEELING) and thats within the 107% limit, I hope that the admins will allow me to use that as a quali time.
