LFS Super GT Series 2011-2012: Rules

Sponsored by cargame.nl

Hello drivers and managers,

Rules for the 2011-2012 season of the LFS Super GT Series can be found here.

When these rules are updated, posts will be added to this thread detailing the additions/changes.
Added new rule S4.1:

Quote :4.1) Use of button clutch is strictly forbidden. All drivers are required to use autoclutch. Use of button clutch during race or qualifying sessions will result in penalties as specified in rule S4.

Edited rule D1 (bolded part has been changed):

Quote :1) Team skins must display the team’s car number at a readable size on the hood/bonnet OR roof, AND both sides of the car. Numbers are not required on the rear of the car. Skins must also use the provided LFS Super GT Series skin kits.

Edited rule A6.1, regarding the maximum time a single driver may drive:

Quote :Each team must use at least two drivers per round. No driver may drive more than 60 minutes during the race. Any laps completed by a driver in excess of the 60-minute limit will be subtracted from the team’s total laps.

This system will replace the "pit window" / maximum laps allowed procedure used in Round 1. We believe it's easier to understand and easier to apply across both classes (since the GT300s run significantly fewer laps than the GT500s).

The tracker has been updated to keep track of how long each driver has been in the car. However, the tracker is at the moment unable to deal with timeouts (which cause a ridiculously high laptime to be recorded). For this reason, the tracker time-in-car tallies should be used as a reference only, not as a definitive figure.

Teams should do their own calculations to ensure that they do not exceed the 60-minute rule.

NOTE: The pace lap does NOT count toward the driver's time total. The tracker will not count the first lap.
Edited rule I1:

Quote :1) Race starts will be in double file, behind a safety car (hereafter SC) driven at roughly 100kph (60mph).

Removed range of SC speeds; set a specific speed to be used at all tracks.
Added new rule section F3-3.2 in response to the situation at the end of Round 4:

Quote :3) If a SC period occurs within last 10% of the race distance (in laps), post-race DT or SG penalties will be deferred and applied during the following main race. The only exception is the final round of the season, where post-race DT or SG penalties will be converted into points penalties—3 points for a DT, 6 points for a SG.

3.1) Teams receiving a deferred DT or SG penalty must serve it at the 10% completion mark in the following main race (as determined by taking 10% of the race laps and rounding to the nearest whole number). The admins will announce the in-race lap on which all deferred penalties must be served (no earlier, no later).

3.2) If a SC period occurs during the first 10% of the following main race, a new penalty service lap will be announced on-server by the admins.

Clarified parts of Section I (Starts / Restarts) in light of the GT300 restart shenanigans at Fern Bay (important bits in bold), and also rearranged the section:

Quote :1) Race starts:
1.1) Initial starts will be in double file, behind a safety car (hereafter SC) driven at roughly 100kph (60mph).
1.2) At each track, the admins will specify a point on the track at which drivers should assume a double-file formation. Drivers should remain in single file until this point. Once assumed, the double-file formation must be maintained until the “green flag” message is displayed. The polesitter should not accelerate beyond the SC speed until this message is displayed.
1.3) The polesitter for the GT300 field should wait on the grid until instructed to roll off by the admins, and then maintain that gap for the duration of the SC lap.
1.4) Each class will receive a separate, color-coded “green flag” message.
1.5) Drivers may not overtake on the start before the “green flag” message is shown.

2) Restarts:
2.1) Restarts will be in single file.
2.2) When the SC enters the final sector, it will accelerate away from the field and enter the pit lane. The leader should maintain a speed of 100kph/60mph until he reaches the line and green cones that signify the beginning of the restart zone.
2.3) After crossing the restart line, the overall leader may return to full race pace. Once the overall leader has returned to race pace, the green flag will be displayed and all cars should begin to accelerate.
2.4) There will be a single “green flag” message that applies to both classes.
2.5) Once the overall leader has begun to accelerate, he must not slow again except in the case of natural braking points.
2.6) No car may overtake the SC before it enters the pitlane. The leader should time his acceleration with this rule in mind.
2.7) Drivers may not overtake on restarts before the start/finish line.

3) All drivers must leave a comfortable gap to the car ahead during SC laps, and must drive with respect for their fellow competitors.
4) Drivers judged to have jumped a start or restart, to have lagged back and subsequently gained a significant speed advantage, or to have begun an overtaking maneuver before the authorized point will be punished with a DT/C1 penalty.
5) Drivers who spin during a SC lap must blend into the queue in the position at which they recover. If necessary, a marshal will direct the driver as to which position to assume. Drivers who attempt to re-take their original position after spinning will be subject to a DT penalty. All such incidents will be investigated and if the spin is determined to have been caused by another car, that car will be penalized with a DT/C1 or SG/C2 penalty, depending on the severity of the incident.
5.1) Drivers who meet any of the DNF criteria for a LFS Super GT Series race during the race start will not be allowed to rejoin the race.

6) Drivers may weave to warm their tires during SC laps until the final sector of the re/start lap. No tire warming is allowed after crossing the final sector split. Tire warming after this point will result in a DT/C1 penalty. This behavior may not be protested post-race.
