S2, Worth?
Although I find LFS as a great sim and like it much. I never sat down and spend hours on it. I play RBR and GPL most. I'm not good at LFS. I can't even control the basicist RWD car and I make bad lap times. I though buying the licance but I didn't think it's worth the paid.

I'm a total noob. I'm asking you the question: Is S2's price worth for me?
Get a steer, learn to drive. After you can master the cars, its a great game. Best sim there, for me atleast.
It depends how you look at it. If you think LFS is too hard and not worth the bother, then no I don't think it's the sim for you. You'll buy it and never give it the time required to learn how to drive.

If on the other hand the fact that it's too hard is a CHALLENGE, then yes LFS is the sim for you. For your £24 you will buy into the development process, receiving all the patches and updates after that for FREE. You will have free online play, free stat recording, an awesome community (ignore me, I'm an anomoly), and all the help and technical advice you could ever wish for. On top of that you will NEVER master LFS -> there are 856 possible combinations of car and track, each one having it's own special requirements, and usually it's specialists. People here have been playing since the beginning of LFS over 3 years ago and most of them STILL haven't tried avery car/track combo, let alone set a competative time on every single one.

In short LFS is a massive game, and it's massive fun despite, perhaps because of, the advanced physics. It's addictive, hard, enjoyable, and in it's own way social. If you want a quick 5 lap race you can. If you want a longer race you usually can. If you want organised racing on a weekly schedule you can. If you just want to watch races or admin servers, then you can (though you'll have to be friendly with some server owners to become an admin).

If this sounds like the sort of thing your after - you could call it a MMORPG Racing Game - then buy it and you will NOT be disappointed.

remember its not all about winning. its about having fun. and demo players only race that same combo so they are extraordinarily fast there (i find).

if you got the license you get a wider variety of cars and tracks to choose so you can settle on a combo you feel comfortable with.

car skins add an edge to the whole experience too
I've already have a wheel. Logitech DFP. I know all the good points of LFS. And no I'm scared of it. I can just buy it and start to learn madly but there's something doesn't let me that easy: I love rallying most

Hi Racedoctor,

I play GPL, RBR and... (you guessed it) LFS. I am not a Full Time player because I have to work a lot and other things to do. I love these 3 Sims very much, so from time to time I spend a few Minutes / Hours with them.

Sometimes I don´t touch one or to of the Sim for Months, but then I come back again and play it for a few weeks. As you may see, I am not a fast driver and I need some Time to adapt my Driving style to the different Sims. But all of these 3 Sims allow me to jump in just for a few Minutes or even for a few Hours when I want.

I don´t have to drive 1st Place to have fun, I just love driving and especially on the LFS Servers everytime I find some people who are as slow as me, so I get close Racing whenever I want.

I love LFS because I can do what I want. I can jump in in whatever Car / Track Combination I want and so Track Racing, Rally Cross, Autocross (which is massive fun for me!!) or just toss the car around the Track and do some wild things with it.

If you mastered GPL to stay on the Track you can for LFS too (especially after the last Patch, it´s so much better now). These 3 Sims (GPL, RBR, LFS) are all I need at the moment, because they cover all Racing I love so much.

I am with LFS since S1, but I had around 3 Months pause before the new Patch came and it´s more fun than ever before.

BTW: I have the DFP too, and besides RBR it´s THE Sim which makes the most out of this Wheel. With some cars you have to work like a Maniac if it gets sideways... it feels so great to have 900 Degrees :-)
All I can add is that LFS is the best.
As for me I am not exaclty a great racer however I reckon it's woth every cent I spent on it (and that was not a lot) and hour I have spent trying to get better.

It depends on what you want out of a game if you just want to boot up your pc and be good there and then i would have to say no don't get it,
BUT if you want to learn how to drive and have fun on loads of different combo's as tristancliffe has already said and not to mention all the different setups, Stats, Hotlaps, Rankings and skins that you can have then hell yes get LFS and let the fun begin and start learning
"Oh man that's what I've been missing. Damn!"

These words just came up from my mouth when I played LFS after a long time (6 weeks) . I released that I missed the game so much. Yes I still love RBR more than LFS but it worths, yeah it worths the price. And actually I released something else too. The basic good of LFS: Makes you feel you're driving. Not racing. It's a real car under your control.

So I decided to buy an S2 licance. But I have to save up some money. It's kinda cool because till I got enough paper I'll have time for traning.

Thank you for your replies.
Hmm. Even if the price would be twice the amount it will still be definately worth it. Think LFS is the only game I really feel I am in control

Nice! The demo is good, but's NOTHING compared to the unlocked version. You'll love it.
A long time ago I tested perhaps early S1 and for some reason I didn't like it. A month ago I installed S2 to my computer and fell in love with it right away and especially the latest patch made a huge difference.

At the moment I'm learning drifting with the demo and I will be definately buying a license within a month.

Oh, and btw. I also like RBR and GPL very much. Just love the insane learning curve of the GPL although I have played it for several years.
Thanks again to everyone replyed this topic Now I'm licensed too

I cant imagine a player that is good rbr and gpl that cant play lfs.
I have both too and both are really really hard.

Are you sure that u have set your wheel in lfs correctly?
How much degree u use on the profiler for lfs?
Are u using self made setups or any specific set? Or default one?

P.S: (OT) Did u try rbr-online 2.0? xD
