Round 5: Drivers' Meeting
Hello drivers and managers!

This week's round takes us to Westhill International, which, as you know, is a very fast and sweeping track with plenty of places to make a slight mistake and end up way off track. A few points to consider this round:

1. Tires. We may see a higher than average number of cars on R4s this round, due to the number of high speed/high load corners at this circuit. If there are SC periods, this will mean very cold tires when they go back to green flag racing. As you know, T2 at WE1 is treacherous even on warm tires, so be sure to give lots of room to other cars on restarts, and to be very careful on your own cold tires.

2. Danger zones. WE1 is deceptively smooth, which can lead to a lot of drivers getting caught out in a big way on small mistakes. Be mindful of the corner entry into T2 (easy to put a rear tire off and end up flying backwards across the gravel) so that we don't have too many SCs for beached cars. And, of course, be careful in the chicane. Not only can you mess up your own race by clipping the tire wall, but you can also screw someone else over by leaving tires on the racing line. Please respect your fellow competitors. Finally, the final corner can be a bit scary when going in side by side. Please remember to give room.

3. Pit exit. The pit exit at Westhill is rather unfortunately placed, directly on the racing line. We therefore ask that if you're passing the pit exit on-track during normal pitting periods, you be extremely careful to watch for yellow flags and to watch the mini-map for cars that may be exiting ahead of you. Cars exiting the pits during the race have the right of way in the pit exit lane, and hitting them will be your fault, not theirs.

4. Rules. Please ensure that all members of your team are aware of the latest rules changes (check the rules thread as the site may not yet be updated). New teams (Warbirds and Kitty), please ensure that all members of your team have read the entirety of the rules at least once. If you have any questions about them, please ask me by PM or AIM/MSN.

5. New tracker features. We have a few new tracker features this round. Most prominent is the new penalty functionality built into the tracker. Namely, the tracker now allows admins to one-click assign penalties to a car, queue them, and cancel them from the queue. The tracker will also auto-escalate the penalty if it is not served by the required time.

Race info:
  • There will be NO WIND for this round, as the forecast for Westhill, UK predicts 3mph winds.
  • There will be a minimum of 2 laps per SC period this round.
  • The password for this round will be the same as previous rounds. New teams will be notified by PM.
Good luck, and see you on the track!
Sticking to Y24 patch for this round?

Edit: Answered my own question...DO NOT UPDATE to Y30 .
Just for the record, we do not use test patches at all.

And if Z goes official before the race ?

It won't.

Edit-
The test patch was only released today, and bugs have already been found.
Patches (Public Release) are almost always released on Fridays, so next Friday at the earliest.
Scawen said that patch Z was only going to be released next week so I doupt that would be before tomorow's race. :P
It depends on the importance of the patch to IGTC. If it was something with the physics of the GTR cars or of similar effect then at least a week between the release and next race before we would use it.
Anyhow, we'll almost certainly use Z for Round 6.
