Survey: 3D scenes for modo, Softimage XSI, Lightwave 3D and Blender
Hello ladies and gents.

I had planned to do scenes for various 3D applications (topic title) to share with the LFS community, however I'm having second thoughts as I'm uncertain about whether or not they would be useful at all - this survey is for you to help me make the final decision.

So, if you are using any of these applications and are having a hard time doing renders, because there aren't many (or any) options, then now is your chance to make that possible - if you happen to know any LFSer who also uses any of these applications, then please notify him/her/them of this thread, so they too get a chance to make a difference.

I will be looking at the amount of interest each poll entry gets, and base my decisions on that.

Special note on Blender:
I've never used Blender and may cancel out from this one if it turns out to be too time consuming - I added it to the list as it appears to be gaining popularity.

Various examples (modo 302):

I voted Blender + Yafray or Indigo
Yafray would be nice to create scenes to share but Indigo is more trickier because it needs a total of 3 programs to use, and file paths are not compatible from a computer to another. Otherwise I would released an "Indigo ready to render kit".

Note that Blender is free, the other 3D apps are not. There's much more potential Blender users even if learning it is more painful.
Haven't looked into it (shame on me) - whats the third app?

And yah - Blender has plenty of potential from what I've seen - especially with Indigo.. although it probably very heavy to render with.
Blender + Blendigo + Indigo

Blendigo is a script and not a standalone app but stills Blendigo≠Blender≠Indigo.

Quote from Bogey Jammer :There's much more potential Blender users even if learning it is more painful.

I disagree... I think blender is much easier to learn than other programs... But maybe it`s because I got such a great master
I would like LWO objects,/scenes, they are nice for my modeler:
Bryce 5.5
LWO or obj for me.
Voted blender and this Modo thing. It seems to do a pretty decent job.
I didn't know that the modo costs so much... 900$ :faint:

The modo demo is fully functional for 30 days - no limitations what so ever.

I was not thinking about the trial time :hide:
