Funny thing, I was watching those clips earlier today and now saw this

Well, have seen pure sound series few times before, absolutely best videos as those are not spoiled by music, engines do make all music that is needed

Me too, I just watched those videos again about half an hour before I saw this. I reminded these because of what we´re talking about in this thread http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=38158 . The group B cars were awesome machines and the sound they made was pure "music" for every motosport fan, especially the Audi.
awesome!

perhaps one day lfs will have a proper rally car..

Duh! teh RB4!

This is a great video also! 9 minutes of Raw Audi Quattro sounds!
Dear god that sound is unbelievable...

Somebody please find or make that sound for LFS, or I will die unhappy...

I like the cosworth noise the best
Well i love the Metro 6r4 the sound it makes the fact there is a 3 littre engine producing 410bhp gross at 9000rpm sitting in the back of a metro lol awsome!!. The RS200 and audi are also very awsome. Have been to a few rallys up here in scotland and you see a few 6r4 flying about

that's more like a 4wd sportscar like the celica gt4

a proper rally car is a compact hatch or family saloon transformed into a complete monster.

were-car FTW

Well if you're gonna post that, i'm gonna post this (turn yer speakers up)

Just a question about those Group B vids, it's nice having a trip down memory lane, but, are all of the cars really group B ?. I don't remember the Opel Manta, the Porsche or the Toyota whateveritwas ever being group B, and i'm sure some of the 205's, Gordini 5's and Integrale's in the clips weren't group B.

I'm sure someone in the know or a Google expert will correct me, but i'm fairly sure i'm right

Not Google, but wikipedia can help you to see if you´re right or not

There was no cars that did sound even close to that Maserati in group-b era.

Even today there are other classes than WRC driving in those events, not same time of course, but they are

Group-B cars (Nicked from teh interweb):
Audi Quattro and Sport Quattro,
BMW M1,
Citroen BX4TC,
Ferrari 308GTB, GT4 and 288GTO,
Fiat 131 Abarth,
Ford Escort RS, RS1800, RS2000, Sierra RS Cosworth, RS Turbo S1 and RS200,
Lancia Stratos (honorary member), Rallye 037, Monte Carlo and Delta S4,
Mazda RX-7 Mk1,
MG Metro 6R4,
Nissan 240RS,
Opel Manta 400,
Peugeot 205 T16,
Porsche 911 SCRS and 924 Carrera GT,
Renault 5 Turbo, Turbo2 and Maxi Turbo,
Vauxhall Chevette HSR.
Ok Ok i knew i should have googled before i said anything, ho hum...

But there's some odd machinery in that list, a Vauxhall Chevette and 3 Ferraris !! Wow, them were the days...

And JTbo, i wasn't suggesting the Maserati sounded like any group B car, just wanted to show you what a glorious sound it makes (one of the best ever imo) compared to a tweaked Volvo.

Audi 5 cyl and Volvo 5 cyl just sound scaringly similar, imo
On the note of nice exhaust notes, this is a must watch
eh... this sounds a bit better than those volvos/bmws

this isn't half bad either (you may have to turn down your volume).

rotary power!

haha... actually that volvo s60r does sound nice. It's too bad it's in a heavy sedan though.

yeah... rotary power is nice but i think that boxer makes the best sound...

I think I saw one phase 1 rx7 in one of b-group videos, so at least that is somehow related to thread

I don't like at all from that Volvo, all fwd era Volvo's are crap, imo. Only reason I posted is that it sounded too much like quattro, which was bit scary as it is shitty car
