STCC Licence Userbar
Always playing catchup, I decided today that I wanted to create a similar toy to Victor's online status graphic. With a bit of help from UKCT's own Edward Millen, we've managed to get ASP to handle binary data, and now we've managed that, we've been able to serve up a dynamic userbar. Without further ado..

Insert into your signature using the following code [stcc]User_Name[/stcc]

<img src=http://stccu.ukct.net/User_Name.gif>

Or

Insert into your signature using the following code [stcc]light/User_Name[/stcc]

<img src=http://stccu.ukct.net/light/User_Name.gif>

Or
- http://stccu.ukct.net/mini/SamH.gif
Insert into your signature using the following code: [stcc]mini/User_Name[/stcc]

<img src=http://stccu.ukct.net/mini/User_Name.gif>

If you have spaces in your licence name, you'll need to replace them with underscores.

If you don't include a username, it'll just deliver..
- standard
- light
- mini userbar

Cool

GREAT, well done Sam!

EDIT: :wow: different shades...
Very cool. Too bad this forum doesn't seem to support graphics in signatures. Though, I'm quite thankful for that the other 99% of the time.
Nice

(nothing to brag about, I know )
good stuff stcc

Quote from teaz-R :good stuff stcc

fixed it for you

Edit: I swear teaz-R's image tag was screwed up before!?
How did you do that, teaz-R, without the "last edited"-line showing up in your post? This makes me look stupid
Nice, too bad we cannot use images in signatures here.

Btw, how are the points being calculated? I need to get some more.
Drive fast and/or win.

PS: Not giving an STCC admin a reason to ban you might help too

http://license.ukct.net/:
Quote :Points System:
We're often asked how the points are calculated. Our standard response is: "shut up and drive!"

There are many factors involved in calculating points awarded at the end of a race, including but not limited to: participation; finishing position; total racers in a race; car driven; fastest lap in a race; fastest lap in relation to the track record; server

That's all we're saying, so don't bother asking more!

Thanks for the kind words guys!

I think the Titanium graphic looks nicest, I think, but nobody's got there yet!

YESSSSSSSsssssss

Er, Sam...

Is it ok if we use it on other forums too, and not only to our sites (especially if we dont have any?)

It is something that might attract other people to STCC, but on the other hand it will take up some bandwith (allthough a little, since the bar is small).
I just feel i have to ask

So has anyone wondered what the point of having the license is? I reached platinum... and didn't see how it proves anything... it's just a title.

Absolutely that's what it's for.. feel free to insert your graphic in any signatures or pages you want, anywhere

Have you had fun and/or good racing so far?

The idea is to have just a little more to shoot for than the finish line of a single race, every race. The STCC tiered licence system just offers a bit of a bigger picture to look at

I don't want to stray from this original topic here, but I only brought it up because I find that the whole license thing doesn't exactly feel rewarding... I guess this image is to emphasize a reward of sorts?

I don't understand why people are claiming the racing is so damned good on the STCC servers, when it is just like any other well-mannered server you can come across. The racing experience on those servers were surely enjoyable, but that is what you get with specific road car combos... it's not just STCC creating the atmosphere of 'good racing'. There were many times that the racing was a mixed bag of nutters and the good racing utterly ruined... even on the Gold and Platinum servers at the time. The higher the license you get, the more clean racing is expected... but that isn't entirely the case. You get a lot of fairly quick drivers immediately in those servers, and most are very aggressive in their driving... a lot of it is the same as any other server where you find a good match... only they feel the need to fight for their license status which is in fact increasing.... for.... what? When there were a limited group of players on the Gold and Platinum, many saw this filtering as a chance to have better racing opportunities... but it wasn't as fun as racing in the Bronze server to be honest. You found a lot of the veterans coming back for the fun in the first server, and they didn't care if their license progressed or not.... or if the racing was clean or dirty.... it was just fun there. The whole filtering and license status doesn't quite have the concept behind it like I thought it would. Afterall, the dE Ladder that was concieved... that never flew well with the experienced drivers.... it was really only fun for the amateur drivers... regardless if they were losing. But they didnt allow the faster drivers join the slow servers, which was a bad idea. STCC at least is flexible, and that is why the Bronze server is the most common.

License Status to me is like Post Count here on this forum. I don't care about my post count, thought people judge me (either highly or lowly) for having a high count It may take a while to accumulate that status... but it's no more than just a title without some kind of compensation (no not money... maybe some kind of 'allowed car?' like you already have -- only it be the fastest one for the given combo? Should do LRF class )

Yes its to further promote STCC as the greatest simulation championship ever and now that you have a platinum license, you must go inform everyone how much its changed your life for the good. :singer:

I only got my gold license to avoid the bronze server, and we all know what racing is like there

Now that I have my gold license I hardly race on the STCC servers because the combo mix is boring. (in my opinion of course)

Yes, it does die off the higher you go in my opinion. Bronze is where the fun is at (for me at least). But I don't race much at all on any of the servers anymore... specifically because of the reason(s) posted above. I'd rather be on a different public server without the heavy prying eyes of admins which exclude people from enjoying their stay. One slipup there is like seeing the grim reaper :tombstone My point is... if STCC wants to create an atmosphere that has some good competitive racing, the ratings will go up if there isn't such a high threat of losing your time spent on a license. Otherwise you just get users on there that are so insane and actively pursuing so called "dirty drivers" by vote-banning, or by submitting replays and reporting them to admins. It's almost a demo sensation.
