![]() I personally have never owned a Ford, but my parents have owned many (my mum only started dating my dad because he had a Transit because he was a Deejay LAWL!). And over they years the list is rather large. Then they got a FIAT, then a Minibus (hooge family and all. I forget who made it), then went back to Fords, now they have a Vauxhall, oh, and rented a Ford Focus for a few days as the Vauxhall was on a ramp (again, more unreliable then any other cars) and we needed a car. God damn are Forcus's shitty cars, it's like riding on rocks, only I'm sure rocks would make a smoother ride. But I like Fords, other than the Focus, they have all been good drives, nice ride, plently of power, piss easy to get spares for (and cheap too).

Did have an old Escort while I was learning, it was crap in just about every way - brakes that felt like they were made of jaffa cakes, the engine had loud tappets, even the seats were more uncomfortable than an old Micra. Only plus point was it was fun to mess around with offroad, because I didn't give a toss about it
In its defence it was cheap to run and the engine was pretty nippy.

Ford Escorts rocked, especially with 10 people in them. One in the center, 2 on the passenger seat, 4 in back and 2 crunched up in the hatch and me driving .Of course, about the longevity and reliability of Ford Escorts.... I aquired mine when my parents bought a new car. Had 24000 miles or something. It didn't handle my driving style past 36000 miles, hehe . To compare, my style didn't really change after I bought my first Toyota 4x4. In fact, from 4wheeling it, my style probably gave a worse beating on the Toy. Got rid of it simply because I wanted something newer at 190,000 miles. Still ran like a top too.If I had a Ford today, I sure wouldn't admit to it, hehe. They aren't as bad as GM products though. Can you say "no feeling!" with GM. Last edited by mrodgers; 26th October 2006 at 21:35. |

Mondeo - cheap and nasty but get you from A to B
Focus - drive nice, look ok, made from plastic, tacky as hell Fiesta - just plan horrible (old ones more so) KA - feels like it cost even less than it did, unbearably slow, fugly, no boot

Where is the option: I have one and I don't care?
I own a 10-year old Fiesta and about the only good thing is that it's mine... I don't really care what I drive as long as it takes me from A to B, when I use it once in a while... |

Pretty comfy drive if you ask me
Better than a lot of carsAgreed. Not suitable if you're over 5'11" either. Quote:
I was considering a focus, until I get my peugeot. To be honest, Ford's arent really anything to shout about. At the end of the day they're transportation and Ford do that well. The one thing that gets me is the weird, high up, bolt upright driving position you appear to have by default on the newer models. If I was looking for a new car again, I probably wouldn't consider Fords as much as I did. Then again, I wouldn't say no if someone gave me one for nothing... |

My hope is to have a Mazda 6 in the future... The Ford in this image is blue but mine is red.. couldn't find any red ones atm....

Used to have a MK2 Escort when I was a lad.
Best car I ever had, and I soooooo want another one. Rear wheel drive heaven. It had a nice twin choke webber carb and sounded great when you booted it as it had the tinniest stainless steel air filter. The back axle was on its way out but I sounded like KITT from Knight Rider with that high pitched noise. BTW Rally prepped preferably!!!

Thats a bit freaky how close your story resembles mine
Mine was an old 80 something 4 door manual with the 1.3CVH engine. Just under 21K on the clock when I got it, didn't put a great deal of miles on it, sold for £300 in the paper before I broke something on it.They are fun to get sideways and generally drive like an idiot for a while Wouldn't dare risk it with what I'm driving now (parents Citroen C4 mostly) but thats whats so good about a Ford, cheap as chips to buy & run. 10 people though, wow. Don't think mine would have pulled itself up a hill with 10 people in. Quote:

Ahhh Ford, which we all already know stands for Fix Or Repair Daily. Nothing rattles quite like a Ford, nothing feels so ... mass produced ... then the car that practically invented mass production (although technically this was done by Adam Smith - a man with a pin fascination...)
Or indeed a Jaguar XK, the Ford Modeo with a stylised body. To somebody who'd driven a Jaguar made by Jaguar the difference is stark, it feels like the Ford that it is. There's something just, rattly or clunky about Fords, if you've tasted refinement and you take a sip of Ford it's like driving a car that was pieced together out of stock components, it just isn't quite 'in sync'. So no, i'd hate to own a Ford. I have far better uses of my time, like moaning at the repair bill on my Saab.
