I´d like to start a discussion on race length. I would feel more comfortable with a 4 hour race. Not only would this give every driver in the team about the same track time, but also it would make it feel more like a team endurance. I could do 3 hours on my own!
What to the other drivers think?

Hi Scoop, I've got a question.
You should just ask your teammates, we have a meeting with the dutch drivers next week where I and one of my #21-entry team mates will meet eachother. We plan to go over to my place to drive together and do the change-overs by hotswapping on the same pc. This means only 1 drive will be online, even though we can change the player locally during the pitstops. Do you allow this?
Scoop
7th August 2006, 16:54
Krutch ok i'm gona allow it, such things have been done before in other leagues and for u guys it's gona give a new flavor to a well known taste if u get my drift
So the answere is yes and that goes for everybody if they want to do smthn like this.

My teammate (my father) and I live in the same city and we did this for a 3hr race earlier this year, there's only one problem with the hotswapping plan...our controler overheated, the steering got a bit squirrely and we only managed to get about 2/3 throttle by the end of it...my advice - make sure you test it for 3hrs prior to race day.

Actually I know a few guys who did a 24 hour race with this (not in LFS), they had a controller standing-by as well but didn't need it.

Small change, youre team mates will not be allowed to stay on the server when they are not driving because it is planned to use the tracker (not 100% sure yet) and having everyone on the server could mess it up, so to be on the safe side only the drivers will stay.

I have a question to the rules:
"Shift+S is not allowed if u are stuck in sand, out of fuel, or damaged a full corse yellow will be isued safety car will come on track and a 2nd assistence car will come to help the stranded car out of the gravel or into the pits (depends on the case)"
How does the stranded car get attention? Is it with a chat message like: "#006 stuck in Sand" or "#006 out of fuel"? Or must it wait till the race organizers recognize that there is a car stranded?
Scoop
24th September 2006, 13:16
i forgot to change that in the rules shift+s will be allowed but u will get a -1lap penalty just like in MoE.

Whats the series website? I've seen that 'website coming soon' under the forum name for ages...
Also, I have a suggestion: Name the series, LFS GT is way too 'general', I mean, theres already a GT Challenge and a LFS GTR, this series should have a more unique name, just like MoE does :)

#1 The site, we haven't got the main MoE website up after that's done LFS GT will have a special section on MoE main site, that's the plan.
#2 The name will not change, this name was chosen because LFS GT replicates the style of racing found in FIA GT 3h races with 2 classes GT1 and GT2, i hope u can see the name asosiation.

Right now it says:Race started on Sunday, October 15th 2006 at 18:16... what I'd like to know is if i can trust the 18:16 start time. So when I switch with my team8 all i need to do is visit tracker & add 90minutes?

#1 The time of the race WILL NOT CHANGE i gave it a thought, and i consider not a huge ocasion, plus the F1 race is longer then the last hour of LFS GT, i'm sure in every team there's someone a little bit less interested in schumi then the rest, put that driver in the car.
#2 The tracker is not set up yet, don't look for the tracker now, i still have to get a hold of frank, he's the one that can make it hapen all i can do is make the config file, if the tracker will be working i will update the link and anounce it in the Race 2 thread.

Oh come on....
One is on the TV being held in Brazil, record it, its exactly the same as watching it on the TV 3hrs earlier and 3 months later.
One is LIVE, being held infront of 78,000 people, of which I count for 1, Would you not go to one of the biggest games of the season (also one of the biggest fixtures of world football, up there with RM v Barca, AC v Inter etc) because your playing on a computer?
I wouldnt expect any series to shift its dates just because its inconvenient for someone to attend it, i'd read earlier that regardless of F1 start times the races would be taking place at the same times each week, but eitherway i just want to point out just how backwards i think your POV is, mainly because you assumed incorrectly. Some of us arent armchair supporters, and the day i play a 'game' over following my team which i've paid to see is the day i'll give up following football!
See the difference? I will watch that Football.....and I will BE THERE!

More than a question, I want to provide some constructive criticism: if we are going to have some new stuff enabled, like the tow and safety car, it should have been posted way in advance how it works exactly.
No big deal, but in the second full course yellow I got stuck behind a GT2 and didnt pass him because I thought it wasnt allowed. Turns out it IS allowed for GT1s to pass GT2 even under full yellow.
As said, no big loss since it was in last hairpin, but it would have been nice to know in advance. :)

Did race start at 16:00 CET Summertime or Wintertime?
And could the driver pool for a Team(one team each class) be bigger than 3 Drivers?

What are the rules about cutting the yellow lines at pit exit and entry? No cutting at exit? Cutting allowed at entry?

Dunno about the maximum number of backup drivers but at least you can't use more than 3 drivers on the track per race. This is because of the rule which tells that every participating driver has to do at least 45mins in the race. It's good to remember this so we don't see unnecessary penalties :)

About cuting keep withing the line on exit, on entry there's no rule and race is at 16:00 normal time, we changed from summer time back to normal

Driver swaps can be timed freely. However, a driver may only join the server when the car he wants to swap into is on it's pit in lap. The driver leaving the car must leave the server immediately.
This rule confuse me when put up against the rule that chat is permitted in form of JOIN for the buddies who have no verbal communicating !
I fail to see how this could be in effect ?
Maybe I failed to see another matter in effect which helps on this ?

Because u can use a specatator tool to see the race without beeing on the server and so u can see the chat, but today i will allow 1 team member to remain on the server besides the driver because it's far from a full day

will we get a complete result in the standings? I mean considering total points and number of wins etc. ? or will this only be done at the end of the season?
And, for example now, how do u rate 2 teams having the same number of 1st and 2nd places ? The one that won first leads ?

Hello racers!
Is it still possible to join LFS GT?
AutoMotoTrke.net Sim Racing Team is considering to join GT2 if that is ok? (I see that GT1 is full with signed up teams but not a lot of them actually race)
BOTT will be over, last race to come, we never missed a race in it, and we also done Formula Racing League (http://www.automototrke.net/forum/index.php?f=105) that we organized for racers who can understand SerboCroatian language (ex-Yugoslavian drivers)... so now we need a new challenge and since we want to start racing in endurance races LFS GT seems to be the right place.
Perhaps MoE next season... :D So LFS GT is, as I see it, a ticket to MoE.
I see we missed a first qualy for 3rd race but maybe we can join for second qualy?

Suggested it on our IRC channel, but practically nobody saw it. So...
For Season 4, i suggest that LFS GT adopts MoE's classes (whatever it will be) and set the dates a week before MoE races, not a week later. That way we would get more GT2 entries and more entries overall since MoE teams could use LFS GT as a 'short' practise for the MoE race. What do you think? maybe post it in the MoE section to see if there would be interest among the current teams?

LFS GT is a different class than MoE. LFS GT is basically the entry to MoE, NOT to be a test/playground for already invited MoE teams.

If you want races with MoE combos you could have a look at LFS LeMans League, where you actually can have a car with two or more drivers. The league is originally for single drivers though.
Still LFS GT is the ticket into MoE though, LFS LeMans is not connected to MoE in any way, only a possibility to race in the actual MoE combo before the event.
