Greetings,

Thought it might be cool for folks to post a shot of their LFS Lair and maybe some simple specs (CPU, GPU & GPU settings). Would be interesting to see what other members of the community see when racing me, and posting here.

I'll start:

AMD A64 3000+, 1GB
NVIDIA FX5900XT
1280x1024x32, 2XAA, 16XAF on 19" LCD

note the mug of perfection next to the wheel also :D

PS: might've noticed a thread like this last year, but there are many new faces around here now.

Here's mine. There's a similar thread in the hardware section, btw, but I think this is different enough to warrant it's own thread.

Intel P4 3.2GHz
1 GB Ram
ATi 9550
1024x768 on a 15" Samsung
Logitech Z-2300 2.1 speakers :D

Here's my old setup, before I replaced the PC with a shiny new one that looks a bit like an Apple G5, a super duper flatscreen and well ... you'll just have to wait for me to photograph it.

Specs: Let's just say I had a windfall and blew most of it on the computer.

I'll show mine after I finish making the area presentable. Expect photos some time around November.

I would show you but i'd be too ashamed of all the crap lying around everywhere. Although it would be fun to run some sort of competition from it.. '1st person to spot my wheel, pedals, and PC through all the rubbish wins a prize' :D

Pah! I'm a bloke! Blokes can't see trash! It's a biological feature, along with an inability to multi-task, selective/focused hearing, and an inherent pride in particularly rancid farts. :thumb:

And had nothing left for an office chair - that one's bottom of the range from Argos![SIZE=1]* [SIZE=2]I know because I'm sitting in one :(

Same here, its also damn uncomfortable as the 'padding' gets compressed in a matter of days and you end up sitting on the screws. Not pleasant. Im gona put new padding in mine soon. Should be nice then.

My one is really comfy and has no padding problems, it's the chair I plan to take with me when I move in a few weeks and i'll only have room for 1 chair in my temporary office. It's two snags are that the recliner cannot be locked, and the little plastic caps that hide the screws on the legs keep falling out.

Come on guys, you're all artists right (of the racing kind!:eclipsee_) and everyone knows that to be an artist you need to look beyond the clutter:rolleyes:

Here's a conveniently poor quality image taken with my POS phone. Any muck or untidiness you think you can see is just dust on the lens, etc.

Seating comfort, as you can see, is not an issue here :)

Let's just say I haven't got the tidyest room in existance. :smileypul
At the moment I drive just sitting in front of my computer as I would normally. The second pic shows my seat which will be getting my wheel and pedals as well as a monitor bolted to it to improve my driving experience. :D

I see lots of people using LCD monitors. What are your thoughts about that? Don't they "smudge" in games too much?

Sorry for the OT :tilt:

Sorry for the OT :tilt:

I'm using a DVI input and it has a good response time (8ms).

As long as the response time is decent it looks fantastic.

I recently bought a 2ms Samsung Syncmaster and although it's more expensive than other screens in the same class, the specifications are blistering. I went through all the stats of all the screens, the Samsung has 1 average stat and absolutely no compromises, all the others have at least 1 weak stat, like contrast ratio or brightness. The only thing i'd say that is negative about them is that they only go up to 1280x1024, which is ok for gaming, but not so good for office work. Being able to push the 19" screen further away than that giant CRT has made the computing experience much more pleasurable.

I used a 19" packard bell screen the other day at work, and there's just no way i'd ever play a game on it. Sure it was £70 cheaper for the same "spec" screen - but that £70 was worth paying.

I chose the 4ms Samsung over the 2ms when I got my new screen a couple of weeks ago. The reason? The black bezel - makes gaming and movies so much nicer to watch, especially in bed. Great monitor, I just wish it had a USB hub built in like my 3 year old 19" AOC did.

i get 30-35 FPS in a moving pack of about 3 (me being one of the 3) 15-25 in a big pack and with a full grid at start i drop to about 5-10.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v715/RLDbunta/LFS/mysetup.jpg

P4 2.80 GHz, 128MB Radeon 9200, 1 gig RAM, DFP, my computer comes from dell, too much money for what it is, but I got it for free, so I don't care. I always run about 20-35 fps, and for me that's enough, it makes me see everything clear enough. Even in a full pack it doesn't drop under 20, so that's good.

Same here. I hate mine, mostly because I didn't really think through the arms being there. Very much in the way for driving.

I'm not about to photo my area until I've cleaned it...which should happen sometime between now and S3.

Sam H has the chair. That's living.
