The power cable attachment appears to have come loose on my DFP. No longer getting power in. I think I could probably fix it but I don't want to open it up seeing as the wheel is still in warranty.

So how long does the warranty process take with Logitech?

Looks like I'm not going to be racing for a while.

1-2 weeks in best case scenario, months in worse case. Warranty is void only if they know you disassembled it... :thumb:

Well I haven't touched it and resisted the temptation to do so when I bought it after hearing stories about DFPs so their shouldn't be an issue and of course they never know about the squash ball ;)

a friend of mine had a DFP that broke (just stopped working one day).
he rang them up and 8 days later a new one arrived at his door!
just make sure u tell them u bought it off the internet otherwise they tell u to bring it back to the shop u got it from. that could take a bit longer for them to get u a replacement.

So if I bought it over the net (ebuyer.co.uk) do I contact the place I bought it from or Logitech? The warranty card seems a bit contraditory on this point.

So did they not want the broken one back first? I guess it's not worth the bother if they occasionally get conned into sending extra wheels ;)

The one I got from newegg, I can just RMA it if it breaks. My DFP hasn't arrived yet.

I have tried Logitech for a replacement wheel for both a Momo Black and DFP but they have none and have no idea when they will get any.

The supplier who was off the net when i purchased then first said they would do nothing and i would have to wait till Logitech get some then they said i must send them back to them at my cost and they will return them to Logitech for any warranty claim which will take at least 5 weeks

Hi,
I dont know how it works in UK but i think basically there should be same law for retunrning fundings in EU if you apply for warranty. Its not allowed to take it longer then 4week(30days).They must give you a new one within that period of time and if they will cross that deadline they must give you the money back.
Then I would buy the wheel at different store.

I am in USA so it might be different but I just called up customer support and told them the problem I had, then they asked for a fax of the sales invoice and gave me RMA number. I did whatever they asked and a few days later there was a brand new DFP at my door.

I've delt with Logitech support a few times. When the wheel is broke, if you phone up their tech support, and explain its broke and the symptoms, explain how it doesn't work in gran turismo 4 and on a friends PS2 with the same game (because this is the game it was designed for, the pc stuff was an afterthought for the wingman team, and they'll tell you to try it with gt4 on another ps2 if you say you haven't), they'll ask for its serial number, and send you a whole new unit, no need to return the old one. For the UK it takes typically 2 weeks for delivery, my 1st one was via Parcelforce, 2nd was via UPS.

They'll ask you to cut off and post them all the plugs, but they do not follow up on this. The support person I last spoke with advised me to leave the pedals intact as a spare unit. I fixed my old wheel after taking it apart last time, so I forgot to send the plugs in ;)

When I called the people I got patched through to were definately not English, Id say Swiss or something, but what do I know. Its not UK based as the website would lead you to beleive. They were however very friendly and efficient whenever Ive called.

Ive got a power problem as well, its the psu itself though, Ive tried the wheel with my mates psu and it works fine. When I spoke to Logitech they said no problem, took my name and address and sent me a new psu...........for European sockets
I even bought a European to Uk adaptor, still doesnt work. So I called them back, they said they dont have any UK adaptors, they cant pre-order one for me when they come in, so the best I can hope for is to keep calling them back to see if they have any in yet.
Ive looked for an equivelant adaptor but I dont want to buy something unless I know its going to work.

Anyone got any ideas? Or better still, anyone got a spare psu they are willing to sell?

Well their was a thread about logitech wheels put up by Shaun Clarke (Fordman) and he put up clear and easy to follow guides on fixing your logitech wheels.

But the best bit of info was if you bough it from a shop, make sure you get warrenty for it, So if/when it breaks you get a new one from the shop, then phone up logitech and tell them your DFP is broken and you need a new one and they send it out. Obviously you have tosay you bought it off the net but I guess with all the faults they can't check all of the people who phoned about their purchase. :thumb:

I've just got the older Logitech driving force and it's my 2nd one in a year, had this one for 6 months and after learning how to fix them with my old one and Shaun's guides mine still is going well (A little twitch in steering but that doesn't really affect me, except with the MRT on long straights)

Good luck with your wheels though. :)

Hey guys..
UK law is that if you bought something (or received a replacement for something) electrical/electronic, new, and it stopped working within 12 months of receiving it, the company you bought it from is legally required to honour a warranty. Your contract is NOT with the manufacturer (although sometimes dealing directly with the manufacturer can be better, but you're not obliged to choose this route). This includes a replacement or full refund.

The 30 day rule does exist in the UK (EU law) but the cost of returning goods can fall to you. The cost of sending replacement goods DOES NOT fall to you, however.

I've heard suggestion that internet-based companies are allowed to take up to 3 months to process an RMA, but I don't think that carries with the latest European and/or EU laws. I might be wrong there.

thisnameistaken, sorry I missed your post.

Just wanted to add, having recently had my wheel in several peices (got a bit curious), they're very simple things to work with and to repair. Think I need to add a heatsink to the motor in mine since I put a bigger wheel on, gets a bit warm after heavy use.

I'm still in the process of getting someone to do something about getting a new wheel, Logitech have sent me back to the site I bought it from for the third time took them long enough to work out that there might be a problem with it now I've tried it out on my PS2 with GT4 and my mates PS2 with GT4 and my other mates PS2 with GT4 and have checked the power cable is plugged in and have checked FF is turned on...

In case anyone else has my DFP problem, bust power supply, a kind sole on RSC just informed me that you can use a generic adaptor from Maplin or such-like. Just check the voltages n stuff :)
Ill report on how it goes.

Well as long as the voltage and connector match up, and it can supply enough amps, any generic power supply will work. A 24v laptop one might work as well.

I've tested my DFP PSU with my other Logitech wheel and vice versa, clearly the PSUs both work but the DFP still doesn't. Now my other wheel has got to the stage where wrapping it in another layer of parcel tape isn't going to help I've got my DFP out again and am going to try it without power. Although the 270 degree wheel mechanical lock is on is there any way to release it without power.

Seems like getting a new one is going to take forever because no one wil accept that they need to supply the replacement wheel so the 28 days doesn't count until someone does

Well I tired it again and I've managed to get the mains power to work with a lot a jiggling about of the power in lead dobut it will keep working though so I'll still keep trying to see if I can convince them to get off there butts before I get a G25 ;)
