Hi Racers!
We're bringing back the NDR Special / Seasonal Events, and this time it's a concept from Phil Diaz. It'll be 150 miles of the Kyoto Oval, with the XRG. It'll have a "Real Unique" format.
Prequalifying will run from 18:00 UTC Sunday, January 8th, 2012 until 23:59 UTC Thursday, January 12th, 2012
Heat Races will run on Saturday, January 14th.
The Race will be on Sunday, January 15th.
Event Timetable:
PreQualifying will Start and End at 18:00 UTC on the respective days
Heat Race 1: 18:00 UTC
Heat Race 2: 18:45 UTC (or 15 minutes after Heat Race 1, whichever comes later)
Heat Race 3: 19:30 UTC (or 15 minutes after Heat Race 2, whichever comes later)
Heat Race 4: 20:15 UTC (or 15 minutes after Heat Race 3, whichever comes later)
Last-Chance Qualifier: 21:00 UTC (or 15 minutes after Heat Race 4, whichever comes later)
Race will start at 18:00 UTC.
Convert times as needed if you need help using the Time Zone Converter (http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc)
All drivers must be in the server no later than 5 minutes before the scheduled start time (except where delayed by longer race progress) to avoid the risk of starting deeper in the field due to missing a grid call.
No real entry requirements for this, just a simple "We can refuse to accept your entry at any time for any reason".
Official Rules Available Hier (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dRAIQbE2Bl9sEIkpilUrZCLjwJxdXqzgoUu9iRN7xls/edit)
Some highlights:
PreQ - Open server, drafting / bumpdrafting allowed
Heats - 4 heats + Last-Chance Qualifier (LCQ); Heats set by Pre-qual, Snake splits.; Each heat is 15 laps, LCQ is 10 laps; Caution laps do not count.

There is already a race in Spring, called the Kyoto 250, which uses XRT and XRR produces too much downforce to really be fun in an oval.

it was changed sothat every heat winner gets a spot in the front row. He just didn't change it in the OP yet, no worries.
and what is wrong with 7x4+2? 7 from each heat and 2 from the LCQ. :schwitz:

yeah no probs :) Also let me confirm this, except finalising the row for the heat winners and LCQ winners, others are ordered as per the pre-qual time, not the heat position. So it does n't matter if you are 2nd in heat or 7th in heat, am I right? One could be at no 7 in heat, but he may take position 5(row 2) if he is very fast in pre-quali right? Interesting

Is it because, you wanted to give enough weight to the hardwork gone into 4 days of pre-qual?
TFalke55
30th November 2011, 11:20
From my perspective it is a safety feature. Due to the qualifying format you can only be fast if you can work with someone in a propper fashion. Drafting and bumpdrafting especially are only fast if done propperly. Of course you need to reward the heat-race winners, and that is the chance to avoid 1st-lap mayham for unlucky racers who did not find a good partner in pre-qual. But again, only if you can work with the cars around you well enough, you can get up and win the heat

well it does:
As you’ll note, this is simpler than a standard NDR event rulebook, but keep in mind that the NDR Sporting code does apply, except in cases where certain bits are waived below.
And therefore the following rule applies:
3.a) All drivers, when in an NDR even shall format their name by the following standard:
123 J. Doakes
Where the number is gray or white, and there is a space between the fullstop and the surname. You may color your name in any color. Drivers sharing a car must format their names in exactly the same color scheme.

That in mind, the Kyoto 150 is SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
Please bear in mind that this is NOT a cancellation, the event is to be considered delayed. A revised timetable will be discussed and presented at the proper time.
Even if the Airio server had been back on by even an hour before the heat races were scheduled, that would not have been enough time for me to sort the grids

That's the lucky break of the year for me. Had a basketball match to attend to (just arrived now), so I wouldn't be able to get to the heat races.
With that said, all the best for the quickest solution to this situation, I can't wait to race! :thumb:

It appears that the servers returned sometime after approx. 0:00 UTC. I do have access to Airio, however, I have not made a decision yet as to when to reschedule. I will be making that sometime within the next 24-36 hours.
In the meantime, I will keep pre-Qualifying OPEN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
The main server is up, and has all necessary data. Be prepared, pre-Qualifying may be ended any time, but I will give at least a 1 hour notice.
Again, be on standby for event rescheduling details.

UNOFFICIAL: Just an update to keep you informed right now, it's looking like I won't have time to reschedule this for December, the only date I even see as semi-viable would be to do the heats on Dec 30th (Fri) and the race on Dec 31st (Sat), but that would interfere with New Year's Eve partying etc.
The next available date I see is in January, and that is the current best option. With that, I might reset and restart the prequal instead of extending it - it's all the current options.

As the next possible free spot in the LFS schedules is in 5 weeks (next weekend buisy, then christmas, then new year, then MoE 24h) I don't think it would be just to base it on this week's results.

If you think that I'm that dumb to not consider that arguement, I suggest otherwise, That arguement will be considered. But if it doesn't run until at least the 2nd weekend in January, I'm definately not going to have pre-Qualifying run for 4-5 more weeks for a start.

Sprints on friday and race on Saturday is probably best option. Because on friday there are no or very little events to conflict with. If thats the case I can make it :)
Pls dont reset prequal as I woked hard to get the time i did

Although tehcnically the times don't matter since all preQual does is set the grids for the heat races :P

Not gonna work cos timezones. American (at least west coast) people are still in work/school when it's already late night in for example eastern Europe.

1. If you worked so hard for the time, then surely you should be able to pull a time that is very close to the time you already have done.
2. It's oval, why do you care so much about your prequal time? As we've seen before in NDR oval events, it doesn't really matter where you start from, cos the opportunity of winning the actual race is pretty much the same whether you start from P5 or P25 imo.

Not sure about school, as it will be during holiday time
And only 7 americans. Most of which are closer to the east coasts iirc
Why do I care where I start? less chance of being wrecked in 5th than 25th

Maybe it should be posted in the first post with all the general information :-)
