i made a test at LFS =) i counted that if car would drive at 150km/h it SHOULD move 100meters trip at 4,16secs and then i tested that thing at lfs:
i drove 150km/h and look from the signs that says how far the curve is and it moved it at 2,4seconds (bout) soo that aint so realistic ;)
and umm i counted it like this:
150/60=km/minute/60=km/seconds*1000=m/s=4,16 (umm if i remember right :D)

150 km/h = ~41,667 m/s
100/41,667 = ~2,4 :)

if u werent a demo racer u could shift-u and measure the distance in the replay using key "d" with precision (no acad snaps yet though :) )

Tired enough to post it, but too tired to double check your own maths?
Hmmmmmmmmm

i counted it with my cousin so i didnt think that i had to check it cus we got same result =)
btw has any1 counted it yet (to prove that im fool) that is it real? x)

i remember few years ago, when there was someone moaning about "no feeling of speed" in lfs...someone replied to him that he should merge the distance he travels at X km/h @ X secs and the distance is equal to real life

Kegetys already did right after your 1st post.
If you would've calculated what you typed correctly, you would've only ended up with the car's velocity in m/s, so you still would've needed to divide the 100m distance by the velocity. 100m / 41,6m/s = 2,40s

well okay =D well actually i TRIED to count this cus it doesnt feel like 150km/h... :/

u can always drive ya moms car straight into a concrete wall to actually feel it.

well okay =D well actually i TRIED to count this cus it doesnt feel like 150km/h... :/Neither does it in real life on freeway if you're driving anything remotely better than a Lada 1500 / Fiat 127. Take away G-forces and it feels even less fast. Feeling of speed is closely related to G-forces and field of view and proximity of scenery (which is affected by FOV).

just set you FOV to 120 and it will be much faster

Hey, how come this doesn't work for me.. Did i get it right...?... during the replay i press "d" anytime and it starts to measure the distance, and when i press it again, it stops?? Because that way nothing happens in my case... I tried Sifht + d, that also doesn't work.. Can u please explain this to me, because it seems like a very good feature..

No you didn't get it quite right, you should press SHIFT + U first (like Kid said) and then by pressing D-key you place a marker on the track (the current location of your cursor). After that, you can move the cursor around the track and it will show the distance between the marker you placed.
EDIT: a trip meter in the cars would be cool though :)

Ok, thanks.. i missed the shift+u part ;) ...

umm another way to make the car go "faster" is to put all ur HL2s and stuff like that on so ur cpu usage is near 100% then go to play LFS with 5-fps and it WILL be fast :S
e: hmm gotta try that FOV thing if its at Demo =)

This is an interesting thread so I'm digging it back up. Is there a way to determine what your fov should be in game so it matches how quickly you pass objects in a real car in real life? I suck at math, dont flame me if this is retarded.
