View Full Version : Spinoff : Areas that need contact detection enabled

Hello Racers. The new open configurations open up some areas that have problems, because the collision detection has been switched off on some segments, for optimisation reasons.

Though I haven't investigated further, it may be possible for LFS.exe to switch on the contact detection in some areas. I hope that there aren't TOO many places like that... I can't just switch on *everything* - that would include overhead power cables, some inaccessible buildings and would reduce frame rates.

But if you could post a screenshot here of areas where you fall through the ground, maybe I can put some code into the exe that switches on those particular "no physics" segments.

For a start - this area at the Fern Bay mini-oval (posted by kart-36) :

I remembered in the Skid Pad. In open config no problem. Thanks for the report but I can't do anything about that one, it would require a track update.

KY1X
patch Z33These ones I can't do anything about either, as there is no existing object that can close off those ends while leaving the corners open.

In these cases it's just for the layout designer to close the gaps.

Scawen can you relook at the skidpad. most of the offroad areas that are dirt/grass are super hard to drive through (like glue) 40mph tops. is there anyway you can change the surface type to something a little more drivable (ie sand/grass consistency). As well as maybe making the areas around where i have circled farther from the track, solid and drivable as well.

Check the attached SS for the area in question

It also doesn't show grass particles when accelerating, it seems very weird. Only RB4 can accelerate on it in 1st/2nd gear. Getting stuff like this done is the first step towards more awesome rally sports in LFS!

You can actually get out there in other cars but it so difficult its not fun. Ive got a set that allows me to cruise in 4th gear out there but only at the same 40mph.

Yes yes yes +1 Offroading on skidpad would be awesome if it weren't for trying to drive on superglue. Hope this gets fixed, i'd love to try out that terrain in other cars:D

Not really contact related, but more surface related (FEX). This part is like glue. Never noticed it before, but not 100% sure it's Z34 related.

This was always like that. I hope it will be fixed though because many times i went there accidently and i stuck

The run-off-areas are there to slow down or stop you if you go there without a tractor, bigfoot truck or similar off-roadworthy vehicle. A Ferrari California, for example is not an offroader (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DBFWONEWWU8&feature=player_detailpage#t=15s).

Hi,
I found little bug on BL1 (see picture), you couldnt go to the fence on straight (there are several fences...) (I'm using Z34 patch)

If Eric will update the tracks, then just after finishing work on the S3 content

Might already have been suggested but remove the blockades between the autocross, skidpad and maybe also to the dragstrip. The incomplete second autocross with the go-kart track could get useful too.

Maybe also removing the barriers blocking off the hidden wip south city road? :)

Edit: in the X configurations of course.

Sorry for bumping this thread, but refering to following topic:
http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=75143

To quote the topic:

Hi there,

Not sure if this has been noticed befor, but kyoto already has a kinda like tarmac WRC stage around the edge of it.

Also its simerlar to a hillclimb corse too :)

It has jumps, bumps, and guard rails at the edge, bit like a WRC stage through mountains etc

It would be pretty easy to make it driveable, just enable the surface to be driven on, and we lfs players could do the rest into making it a rally stage using layout editor etc.

Do you think this is a good idea?

I have nothing against. But again make an interim patch before the release of s3, to be honest not a hunt. It is better to let Scawen include it in notepad.

If I get your reply right, you want a little patch too (which let us drive on these track parts), but most of all the release of S3?

Or did you meant that it should be done after the release of S3?
