First... Sorry about my bad english :) I'm still learning...

My PC - 256 RAM, 2.02 Ghz Intel Celeron, 64 MB GeForce4 MX 440
and fps can't go over 20... I've tried almost everything. Changing the resolution. Making the LOD effects to low. And it's not working...
The FPS is still 15-20.
I don't know if there is a post like this because I'm new here. I hope to help me.. :(

The biggest problem is your graphics gard - GeForce MX series cannot do one important thing: Hardware Vertex Shading)(HVS). In short it takes some work off form CPU. CPU is then free for complex physics calcualtions. If you can, try to get some graphics gard capable of HVS.

Here are some: GeForce 3 Ti series
GeForce 4 Ti series (4200, 4400, 4600, 4800)
GeForce FX
GeForce 6
Ati Radeon 9250, 9500, 9550, 9600, 9700, 9800, any X series
Matrox Parhelia

Sorry if I am making an idiot from you, I just want to make my explanation clear:)

So, just get ANY of card listed above and Im sure it will improve your FPS a lot. For example, when I disable Vertex Shading on my P4E 3.2GHz, 1GB RAM and GeForce 6600GT I get about 25 FPS instead of usual 100+... Whan a change.

And be sure you have DISABLED Simple track, I dont know why, but when it is enabled, it slows LFS down a lot.... cya online:)

So basically any card with HVS is better than what we have now lol

I was looking into a 6600gt the other day. What sorta performance would i get?

Pentuim 4 1.7Ghz
1Gb Ram

I'd go a step further and grab a 6800GS. I doubt there's that much difference in cars.

I have a three year-old Pentium 4 2.4ghz with over a gig of RAM, running a 6800GS. Frames are good. 25 with full grid. 85-100 when I'm alone.

I used to have a 6200 OC, and when I changed to the 6800, my frames nearly tripled.

Those MX cards are a bad deal.

Yep, those MX cards aren't much good.
I've got one in this computer, 2.4 Celeron with 1Gb RAM, and don't even bother trying to play LfS on it.
All I do LfS wise on this machine is watch the replays.

My other machine has a 2.8 Athalon, 1Gb RAM & a FX5500, and I get pushing 60-80 FPS normally.
