he should expect a noticable increase :) i dont remember exactly what my framerate was with my 9600xt but i used to run lfs with 4xAA 8xAF 1280x1024 &max settings ingame at a decent framerate.
i have an x800gto right now. :)

For too 6600GT (About 220€) you can get a X850XT PE(PCI-E) what is faster than 2x 6600GT ;)
Thanks for the answers

I have now a AthlonXP 2400+ and i purchase a AthlonXP 3200+ "Barton" that i will clock up to 2400MHZ!
And I purchase OCZ 1024DDR400 premier!
How much will the FPS go up?
AthlonXP 2400+
PowerColor 9600XT @ ATI Overdrive
V-Tech 512DDR333
ASRock K7NF2 Raid

the additional ram won't make much difference a think. but the cpu will do i think so. you will go around 80-90 fps.

The memory should help as you will be stepping the FSB from 333 uptop 400, should give you another nice little boost!

I have
AXP2200+
1 GB ram
9500 Pro
and I'll can play LFS easily with 4xFSAA. I'd say fps is something between 40-70.
I've turned off only some useless stuff (like mirror details). In the starts I get very low fps, but even without 4xFSAA it would be a bit choppy in the starts when there's full grid of cars so I don't care.
