When you find this wonderful game, and you absoluteley love it, yet you can't afford a liscense. I've been playing with the "Demo" version since December, and i just cant get the cash to buy a liscense. Is there anyone, or any place that sells liscenses for less? $42 or however much it is is alot of cash to me, and I am 16. Around here there are no job oppertunities, and even so, I am too into school, trying to get into a good college. I never have any cash. Is there anything I can do? I'm tired of drooling over all the cars and circuts I can't select.

I never have money to spend- I don't ever come upon any. I'm going to enter the demo series, try to win a liscense.

I just reformatted, so I need to remake all my setups... heh.:weeping:

Can't you mow some lawns or something? Older folks will pay $10-20 to mow their lawns sometimes. Even at $10 per lawn, that's only 4 lawns. You could do that in a day.

When you're 16, that's when you have loads of money. No car payment, no house payment, no wife to support, no kids to feed, etc, etc. Wish I was 16 again. I had boatloads of money back then.

save every change you get in a box somewhere, spare change gets you far
actually i bought a ps2 and GTA vice city when it came out
on change collecting alone (seriously, spare change when i come home, change i find on the floor, change after i break a dollar, recycle bin of cans. etc)

and winter time is a great oppurtunity to shovel and make money.
there are tons of ways, and if your thinking about college, spare some time and get a job, save up money and put some away for college
i am to doing this whole college apply/gettin ready thing.
only a year older than you are.
but tehre are tons of way to save money you just need to think harder and STOP BEING LAZY!

I can't understand how in this day and age, and coming from a rich, developed country like the USA, AND, obviously having a PC and an internet connection, that £24 or $42 is so hard to come by, I can obvioulsy understand people having problems from less well off countries like eastern Europe, but even then I would wonder how difficult it is, because they have again obviously been able to afford a PC, and the monthly cost of a net connection.

If you really wanted LFS that much you would find a way, heck I remember doing paper rounds for £5 a week over 20 years ago, I give my 8 year old daughter nearly £10 a week for doing household chores, I mean she could buy a license in a little over 2 weeks.

If fear that laziness comes into play a lot, as it is in no way impossible to get £24 if you try.

Dan,

As your from the UK, i'm sure you can understand there are still a lot of people in this country living on the edge of poverty (social security literally gives people the bare minimum to support life). Some people really CANT afford it. As such, some parents are as tight as a rats backside with money as well. Jobs are also scarse as well. He has also been trying to get a bit of money so saying he's lazy is something you really can't substantiate at all :S

I can see where you are coming from mind you :)

I used to be his position of absolutely no money either at his age as well. So i can relate to his problem.

All i can say is just keep trying to get some wonga :) Go about where you live, im sure there are some places looking for some extra help/staff. Local convinience (cant spell for my life xD) store or something?

Meh....I have'nt a lot of money, I am not poor, but I am in no way rich either, I come from a VERY poor background, so I know the value of money, and I know how quickly it can go to.

If I were on the breadline, the last thing on my mind would be a PC, a net connection or an driving sim, heck I could tomorrow go out and get a job in Tesco's stacking shelves for minimal wage if I were that broke.

All I am saying is, £24 isnt a lot of money, you could easily make that it a few weeks riding a paper-round.

Because these people have usually old PC,slow net connection and they are really on tight with money. They wre able to pay for food, house, net connection and there is nothing left and more important things in life.

For some people in Eastern European countries is 45dollars like 1/6 of their monthly salary!!!

Regardless, a slow PC, and a slow net connection must cost more than £24.

If you don't have the money, then you can't get it, no point bitching about it, I want a new car, but I can't afford it ATM.

heh, very true. But concerning his pc and net connection, his parents are paying for it, and the pc and net connection benefits them as well. At anyrate, i completely agree with you on the fact he could go and get a job and get the money quite easily. But there are some people who are in backgrounds, that might have some things. But don't necessarily have the money over at the end of the month to go squandering on a racing sim :)

Dan,

The you boy from US just asked if there is other way to get licence in a cheap way like sold from second hand and you turn it into something else.

It cost more then 24pounds but they dont buy such a PC every year or so.They also cant stop paying 1-2 month for internet connection and then pay again.I know it must look sometimes weird how people in eastern Europe or in poor countries are able to have PC and internet connection but they for example dont buy them a new clothes or dont repair their flat or what so ever so they basicly fu**** up their life just to be connected to world.

Can't believe there's nothing to do to raise £24.
Dog walking, car cleaning, odd jobs, paper delivery, MacDonalds shift, window cleaning, shelf-stacking. Funny how so many really poor people can afford PC's, satellite TV, internet, booze and cigarettes.
I'm not wishing to sound heartless, but I'm with Dano on this one, there's stuff i can't afford, I don't go moaning on about it and feeling sorry for myself. If you can't afford it, you can't have it. Live with it. If you want something badly enough, then you will find a way (without stealing hoefully) to pay for it.

Its called sponging off the system. Something that quite frankly annoys me, when they can go out and get a job rather than just getting the money off the government. However, there are people who are on insanely low wages who are literally living off the bare minimum legal wage. Which gets them so far, and so they have some quality of life. Also another thing that i respect about this guy is the fact he hasn't cracked lfs or anything, he is figuring out a way to pay for it.

this might help u out, i also come from a not so rich country (Romania) tho my family is middle class in term of income i don't get everything i want offered so this is what i do to get money:
- Every time i'm sent shoping i keep the change (if youre parents don't send u shoping the ask them too)
- Ask them about once every few days for some pocket money to go out with friends to a movie or stuff like that and then keep it
- Tell them it's one of youre best friends bday and u need some money then go out and spend an entire day (you're parents think you're at the bday party) outsite and keep the money

This are small tricks for when u need cash fast and in 2-3 weeks u'll have the 42$ :thumb:

Apply at McD's... you almost certain to get a job. High school does not take up 24 hours/day, 7 days a week. McD's understands youre in highschool, and cant work every day. If youre working too much and school is suffering, tell them. You will get less shifts and more time for school. I worked every day in grade 12, and still easily passed everything, despite my extreme laziness and unwillingness to do homework :P I'm sure you can too. I made enough in 2 days to pay for LFS S2, I'm sure you could in a week make enough. Not to mention, you'll want a summer job anyways so you have some scratch for college next year!

I realise not everyone can afford everything, but there is always a way to come up with some money if you really need it. Especially in highly developed countries like the U.S., Canada, and the countries of the U.K.

When I was 16 years old I had a job washing dished after school and worked about 35 hours a week- I bought my first car (a 1980 Nissan 200sx)- paid for my own insurance and car note. I had a girlfriend too- that I spent money on..

I started working when I was 14 (with "working papers" you needed to get to work that young, only at certain hours).. Before that I shoveled snow and mowed lawns.. since I was old enough to walk.

My advice? Get a part time job or actively go out looking for work like mowing lawns and stuff. There is ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS some old lady that would pay you to clean out the gutter- rake leaves, gather sticks off the lawn, mow the lawn etc.. hell most of those old ladies just like having somebody around to talk to for the time you are there working for them...

Then you will appreciate the free time you have to play LFS, and will have enough to upgrade your PC and buy other stuff too. Then get a "real" job and buy a real car too...

No offense intended to anyone....

Guys I am betting this young man is more like 12-14 which would tend to place him in the "allowance" category and without the ability to work. He is bright enough to know that school is the answer which is doubly enforced by his folks!

Tuff age to be! I am four times that and wouldn't want to be a "tweenie" again for nothing.

Good Luck and hang in there!

Yeah that was my first thought actually- there seems to be a few people now and then that want to sell their license for one reason or another- no time to play, not their cup of tea, etc.. I bet you could take over someone's license for 25 bucks.

Hehe, I just had a funny idea-- go to RSC and go into another race sim forum like rFactor, GTL, GTR, etc.. I bet that is where you will find people that want to sell their LFS license!

God. I was a lad on a Milkround at 15/16. I'd been doing a paper round since I was 14. I had sex at 12 and I was driving at 11. Ok, the last two are blatent lies. I didn't start driving till I was 13.

But my point being is that there are ways and means. If you show keen and eager then somebody somehwhere will give you money for doind a job.

One thing my mate did when we where bashing around in teenage hell was get is parents and their friends with cars to come to a supermarket carpark where he set up a car washing and valet stall. He even got a few of us in on the act to help out. For a fee of course. Poeple saw all these cars lining up to be washed and wanted in on it. Worked like a treat until the Supermarket realised it was loosing to much from it's own carwash.

Detailing inside of the cars- you know how many cars I have detailed for 30 bucks? Man.. tons back in the day. Bottle of windex/ vacuum cleaner/ armor all and some paper towels.. You can make a fortune with those tools. maybe you could sell crack to get the money needed to buy LFS. NO NOT REALLY, it was a joke, dont do that because THAT WOULD BE ILLEGAL! just so you know. DONT DO ILLEGAL THINGS. they are against the law.

I would like to take a moment to state for the record that I do not condone illegal activity of any kind.

you sure seem crazy about LFS, so crazy in fact that you must have gone LFS CRACKERs! I went crackers once. Its not a good scene, man. :pillepall

Sure, as George H. W. Bush once said, illegal drugs are against the law.

Hey guys, thanks for the positive response and the warm welcome.

You know, I was thinking, I bet if you typed "LFS CRACKER" into google it would come up with a webpage devoted to to people just like Kris-is-awesome, people who have been sent insane by their love of LFS but their lack of money.

Ha ha ha, I am only kidding of course. But gee it would be funny to see what came up if you DID type that into a search engine!

I would like to take a moment to reiterate the fact that I do not condone or promote illegal activity of any kind. Law and order is very important to me. I feel that it is up to us all to lead by example, especially when young people such as Kris-is-awesome come to us for advice. So don't sell crack, Kris, or do anything else illegal. It was just a joke.

Good luck coming up with the funds, Kris-is-awesome. I'm sure you'll find a way.

Rolling Stones: "You can't always get what you want".

I want a Ferrari F430, but I can't afford one. There are certainly more important things in life. If the demo is the best you can do, play the demo.

I just thought of a new T-shirt slogan. "I'm broke and need money for race car simulator"

its funny..Kris, at this point..you could have started a Paypal account and had everyone donate a dollar..65 posts so far! actually you have to be 18, i think..anyway, dont worry yourself about getting both licenses. Why not just get the s1 license, play on that for a while and save a buck or two a week until you have enough to get the s2 licence. Maybe ask your parents for an advance on your allowance or your next b-day. Someone made a valid point that at least you are trying to get a great sim racing game, instead of some violent-hot coffee modded adventure game. You could use that approach..but in the end, go small and just get the s1 license until you can save up for s2. it breaks down just the same..:thumb:

its funny..Kris, at this point..you could have started a Paypal account and had everyone donate a dollar..65 posts so far! actually you have to be 18, i think..anyway, dont worry yourself about getting both licenses. I wish I could get an S2 liscense. It sucks when you have the money, but your parents say "I don't trust paypal", and, when today I asked if I could send a money order, my mom says "You still want that game? We said no." :pillepall I will find a way though. (WIthout cracking, I will get an actual liscense somehow)

Dear Mrs 4Hummer,
Your son, Wheel, has been a member of our online racing community for almost a year and in that time I think it is only fair to say that he has grown a little bit taller. He has iterated to our well-dressed and impeccably-behaved community on more than one occasion that he does not have parental consent to purchase a Live For Speed S2 Alpha Online Racing License via the popular Paypal system. In casual passing one may get the feeling that he perhaps feels less fullfilled than he otherwise might if circumstances were more in his favour in regards to becoming a fully fledged member of our community, many of whom are very attractive physically which is always nice to know as I'm sure you will agree.

While there is always a risk that young Wheel's grades will suffer from the time he spends tearing around virtual racetracks online, he will meet a diverse range of people from across the globe, many of whom have jobs or at least know somebody who actually does.
Some kids play games of death and hatred, some kids lie under bridges with a needle in their arm and even worse, some kids play arcade racing games or ones with a small letter at the front of their name! Oh the injustice! If only young - insert name here - could be released from the shackles of mediocrity and be given the freedom to express his rapidly evolving soul at blistering speeds and against all odds in the ultimate challenge of man and virtual machine all in the relative safety and comfort of his own home.....the parents that could do that for their beloved offspring would be honoured for eternity in the hallowed halls of virtual boyracerdom.

However, there is a profitable angle here whereby you as a parent exploit said offspring by demanding the completion of several dozen mundane chores over an indefinite period of time or until such a time as the offspring's interest has waned, whereby you claim ultimate victory and get to extract even more rediculous demands from your hapless child's hide for many glorious years to come! I went roller skating for years, and in exchange my parents got a fully landscaped yard and endless refills of very bad coffee! I still walk with a limp to this day, Mother is a bit odd and we haven't seen Dad since St Patricks's day, but in fairness I think all parties are happy with the outcome!

So please Mrs 4Hummer, for the peace and tranquility of the award-winning Live For Speed Community please find a way to help a young racer realise his dream.........

*fades to future scene*

"Wheel! No Live For Speed until you've finished your chores!.....and massaged my feet, washed the dishes, fed the dog, awww the baby's thrown up again... get that won't you Wheel....?"

Love from Gunn

p.s. The holiday's going great! The underwater mountainbiking was particularly unique but ended rather quickly. Hi to Bob and Meredith, hope to see you all again soon at the big pie and beer festival!

ya wen i finely got a job (sucks more than you will EVER know in the US right now)

...

sorry to any one on page 2, stop reading on 1. just got ticked off with how eazy ppl think it is to come by money in the US wen your his age...

You know, it is much easier to find a job when you know how to read and write. And don't whine like a little bitch. There are hundreds of people on this forum posting in a second or third language with far more eloquence than you do in your first.

When I was 12, a US dollar bought considerably more than it does today. I bought myself a $2000 PC after earning money providing on-site tech support for various people who were referred to me. A strong lesson in the power of word of mouth advertising. I saved that money in about a year.

And then we have Americans who do speak English that somehow think our current debt problem is largely due to World War II, which really couldn't be further from the truth. In fact, we made out like bandits on that deal. Not only financially, but technologically as well. I know that most Americans find history intolerably boring, but perhaps you should google "Redstone Rocket" and learn something interesting.

Around here there are no job oppertunities, and even so, I am too into school, trying to get into a good college. I never have any cash.
One year before I left school the big world wide 80's depression hit. I got a job on top of school, in fact I got more than one, and I barely ever saw a penny of my wages on helping out my folks, and then one of the firms went bust with a backlog of wages.

I work in a male dominated industry, I have not been given jobs because "you wont fit in because you dont like football" (not that they asked). Yet I still have a job.

I see refugee's who barely speak English holding down a job.

There's no such thing as no opportunities.

If you want it. Earn it.

That's capitalism baby...

This is the beer that falls from the sky at MY house though..

http://www.yuengling.com/

A little off the thread topic, but hey, it's beer!

I used to be an uneducated snob towards US beers until I actually started travelling to the US.

Yuengling is great (It was my favourite beer when I lived in NJ), but I never see it here in MA :(

Up here Sam Adams is everywhere, but there's many more (little known) micro breweries in the North East US that I prefer. My current favourite is Wachusett http://www.wachusettbrew.com

Cheers!

I'll have to try that. Not a "micro" brew per se, but do you like any of Magic Hat's beers? They are out of Burlington VT. In a similar vein I enjoy some of the brews from Unibroue up in Quebec, available pretty widely through the US now at good beer stores.

There are a bunch of decent micros in my area of Upstate NY. Good stuff for sure.

Of course it didn't match up to the Theakston's pint's 5.7% ABV, but if it did Americans wouldn't be able to drink it so what would be the point?

;)

Hah. I rarely have more than a pint in a sitting, so high alcohol content beers don't bother me too much.

One of my favorites if I'm restless before dinner is here:
