View Full Version : Thank you for the BF1. May we now have turbo????

OK, they pulled it off, how I do not know. A real F1 car, and a very good one at that. The only thing I could think that would be better than this would be a 1982-85 turbo f1. Brabham, Renault, Ferrari and company. Give us the cars that Prost, Villeneuve, Rosberg, Piquet and Senna drove. Now that would be almost unbearable don't you think?:revs::eclipsee_

Can't deny I'd love to have one of those. Especially the qualy ones that had like 1200 HP, way too little downforce, and NO driver aids. :D
...But it might be pushing the envelope a bit too far.

would be interesting, an old school undrivable turbo monster.

Turn off TC and do some laps. Then add 700bhp (for qualifying) and tell me if 10 people in LFS could cope. The standard of driving (today) is abysmal in the BF1, and it's one of the easiest cars in LFS (though you tend to need one, perhaps two, nooby laps to find out where the grip/speed is). I can't understand how everyone is spinning at every corner all the time...
and I haven't even seen the oval recently, but I guess that's even worse cos the nooby noobs hang out there.

Good point, Tris. :)
Still, if there's a TweakS2 thingy later on, you could just add the HP to the BMW and test it for yourself... crazy, I tell you. :pillepall

LFSTweakT will only work on the demo cars, and yes it will be crazy ;)

i find the trick to going FASTER especially on a mouse is to use some relativly heavy TC in the corners (speed ~6m/s @ ~5%), and when you exit the corner, turn off TC. that will allow you to accelerate like a MADMAN, without TC eating up your power even when you won't spin under full throttle.

Go back to patch Q and use Mechanik on the F08 to create this. That would tell you why it couldn't be handled by us unprofessional racers :) .

:smileypul
yes, give me the ferrari, the brabham, the renault.... I'm not saying I could drive them, but it would be cool to try. For one thing, the driver was pushed way forward. I would like to see what it's like to drive with that viewpoint (very close to the front wheels).
So, yes, make this an official request. Give us ground effects, turbo (unreliable and all) and give us that view!!!!!

Completely agree, for me the car feels as though its on rails. As long as you take a minimal amount of what you have learnt in LFS , and apply it to the BF1, it really is almost impossible to spin. I think people must be driving the BF1 without actually recognising that LFS's physics still apply.

You see, I did get it (trust me, sarcasm is the highest form of wit Down Undah) and was humourously (or not) drawing attention to the fact that colcob didn't seem to get it (the humour lies in the common stereotypical assumption that Brits understand sarcasm [or at least they should] and Yanks don't). But ... I guess you didn't get that I got it lol :tilt:

for me most of my spins are a combination of not knowing the cornering speeds on the track, the brakes being so incredibly good that when you miss the braking point by a tiny bit you either enter the corner far too fast or much too slow and without enough df and not to forget the old "dirt affects the whole width of the tyre" bug which makes clipping a wheel on the dirt a little at 2-3g cornering forces deadly
btw the bug has got worse not that grass is much more slippery

But the turbo cars used ground effects and slicks which is why Nelson and Gilles were able to corner and change direction so fast. A modern F1 car has very little in common with those older cars so a comparison is difficult I think.
As far as I'm concerned SEV can add as many open wheelers as they like, I'll be happy. :)

If we ever gonna get a yet another car class, that must be some kind of Group C or Le Mans prototype car.

I did a bit of research on that. Some of the BMW engines were supposed to do over 1400 HP... crazy numbers. :D
That thing would do 250 mph easily I reckon.

im sure a lot of the older lfsers will oppose to having another 4-banger in the sim though ... even if its an f1 turbo
