View Full Version : [request to devs] Make a public to-do list

Well I posted this idea in the physics thread and some people liked it.
They (the devs) could make a short public TO-DO list. That would show things that are done and left to be done. It will be useful for people that don't check the forum often and just want to check the status of the development of the next patch, keep us updated and lower the amount of anger because of the leght of the development time of the physics. The list could be put in a sticky thread on top of the forum.
Example to-do list:
- AI driver improvements - Completed
- Limited setup system - Completed
- Finish the VW Scirocco - Completed
- Finish Rockingham - Completed
- Tyre heating and cooling - In progress
- Suspension updates - Not yet started
- VW stability control - Not yet started
- General bug fixes - Not yet started
- Release to private testing - Not yet started
- Public TEST release - Not yet started
- Public official release - Not yet started
THIS LIST IS AN EXAMPLE AND DOES NOT REPRESENT THE DEVELOPMENT ROAD OR STATUS IN ANY WAY.

Of course, this poll will end with 90+% of "yes" votes. Who wouldn't want any to-do-list/progress report etc.?
But as I said in the above post, this poll won't change anything so it's useless.

This has been suggested many times already.
The devs, as they said many times, just aren't up to this. And even if they were, it'd create massive amounts of bitching, even more than we have in the current few development related threads. I can already hear the typical "Y ARE U DEVELOPING THE TYRE PHYSICS B4 TEH VWS" and the "TEH VWS HAS BEEN ON TEH LIST FOR AGES, STOP LYING YER NO MORE WERKING ON IT"

Oh for god sake, school for kids should start already... :schwitz:
No, i do not want "public-what-the-f*cking-ever-list", becouse i want Scavier to work on LFS in peace and not under constant pressure of little kids, being horny becouse they get bored of the game, after a few minutes. Go play god damn Sims 3 with cheats then or something, you might acctualy be succsessful there.

I would like to see a to-do list, but it's entirely up to Scawen, and he's not likely to ever make a public one.

Jesus christ, do you guys have to over react so much? Whatever you post, you're going to be bashed by people calling you a kid or a dumbass. This is the only community that over reacts so much, really. Just state your reasons and nothing more.
@Kid222: Your shit spam is useless.
@thezero: Oh look, the 2009 guy is talking about ME being bored of the game a few minutes after playing. P.S: calling other people kids doesn't make you look older, infact, sometimes the caller is the youngest of all.
@peterules: You don't have to be an asshole.
I'm serious guys, look at this shit. It is pathetic and I'm ashamed by this community.

I didn't mean to be an "arsehole" Sorry.
But i'm the sort of person who likes to take time with various projects i do. Even the slightest hurry along or distraction just throws me off pace as i'm not fully focused on the tasks ahead.

Its not going to happen but sheesh take it easy guys.

Yes, sorry, that's how it works out there. If you create a new thread in this section, you have to expect to get dozens of flaming posts and tens of flaming posts complaining on the ridiculous amount of flaming posts and "how LFS Forum went, see son, it was more friendly in 2006 etc etc".
That said it's a bit strange to see that you expected something else while your awesome idea has been suggested several times already - and commented by the devs even!:really: I'll have to search for the link.

Something like that. Learn to act at least a little bit friendly people. :shy:
It's easier to say it's good idea for us, not for the devs and here it ends for everyone... instead of constantly flaming. :schwitz:

But it gets a bit repetitive if exactly that has been said approximately 726 times in the last 2 years but people still do it. ;)

I'm one of those that think devs could write a bit more about de development progress, but a to-do list is definitely not a good idea.
I don't want devs to justify their work, maybe some info from time to time, but not a task list.
Greboth
29th July 2010, 09:43
Could there be more information around: Yes
Should the devs give us more news or a to do list: No.
Reason: They said they don't want to and they update when there is something to update. Thats the reason, accept it.

Im kinda dissappointed that the yes has more votes..
It's a shame some people just don't get it, they do not want to give us more information, accept it. And imo we're anyways better this way, at least we don't know exactly what we're waiting for

"they don't give us enough info we wanna know more!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111"
and then when someone comes up with a simple but brilliant idea they are like "omg what a noobzor teh devs don't want us to know stuff stop being an idiot"
Honestly people are pathetic

If you want people to take you seriously, prehaps try to explain to them your plans rather than insulting them. To be honest I agree - even if 90% + of community says yes, it will make no difference. Leave the devs alone to do their own work.
I am not insulting anyone, not sure where you are reading that  I'm just replying to them the same way they replied to me. And my idea is simple and well explained in my post, if someone doesn't get it they need learn to read.
And I repeat, it was a simple question for the community, im not begging or anything.
P.S: LuKe.S is totally right.

I votes yes, but I know it will not happend, simply because that is not the way the developers want to work.
I think basically what helps is beeing more active on the forum. If the developers tok 2 minutes each day to just post and repond around, I think it would help, making the devs look somewhat more alive. Even if there is nothing to report, please just give us some sort of feedback, or take join in a discussion, show your faces to the crowd because we like it :)
And one other thing, why does most of the people in this topic act like twats? I know it's internet, but come on, he just asked a question. There really is no need for going as far as many of you have done. And saying "NO" is not an answer, give a REASON for why you said no. And if you say YES, then bloody hell aswell do that. Please, for love of the discussions try to keep it contrustive, and fair-play commenting!
Agree? :)

No it's not :D A surprise is like.. well on kart meeting, surprise buttsex (ask Franky about that one) ..
Well, I just think it's much more fun having a propper discussion, that's all :) I want to be able giving replies and imputs on other thoughts, and I want them to write them constructive. If you are positive or neagtive to LFS and it's development - it does not matter, what's matters is the way you are saying it and giving it propper arguments and veiws.
That's at least my opinion about it all.

simple answer is no because it's more work for the devs/mods and it will make people bitch even more or people keep wanting more info on whats being done.
The Very End
29th July 2010, 13:39
I disagree on that. There will allways be moaning, no matter what. People are different, and everyone will never be pleased. What's important is to ignore the ones that obviously are trolling, and try listening on the people that actually have something to say.
Sure, there would be some drama when things planned does not see the light in the final version, but it's better than just beeing sillent about it. Most people here accepts that, and will continue on. We canot have it the way that the whining kids destroy the communication between the trustfull followers and the developers. Just look on the Rallypack and LX8, sure, we moaned, but the forum did not whent apeshit and people commiting suicide for the sake of those goodies.
It will continue on as usual, but please do us a favour and trust your community more, share your thoughts with us, even if things does not reach the final version :)

People talk about whining on this forum. I see more whining about the people whining.
Take it easy guys. Have a cry, get a tissue, come back on the forum and give the bloke a decent answer.
But at the same time, this is the internet! Why should i have a cry about others having a cry about having a cry. :D

You shouldn't need, but even if it's internet moderators and other can do what they can to try acting civilized and normal. There are many, many forums where you are forced to act like you would normally, or else - permban. Wouldn't mind some ban on those normal people that just throws insults all the times tbh.

I would just hate starting up a thread with an opinion/idea/suggestion, only to have half the people in it saying "OMG WORST THREAD EVER" as if they are the comicbook guy from the simpsons.
http://www.mediabistro.com/unbeige/original/comic%20book%20guy.jpg
Thats what i see when i read these stupid comments and "this thread sucks" pictures.
Cant help but think to them, "good on ya mate, youve told off someone on the internet. have a cookie."
Get a life!
(and no one use the excuse that its repetitive suggestions and the devs dont want it etc, ive been around here long enough to understand that!) (i dont agree with the idea either just for the record, cant help a fan for trying..)
