View Full Version : No Pit Stop/Strategy Improvements?

There've been countless threads with many ideas for improving the fuel-loading system. Principally an option to "Add X% at pitstop", rather than just the simple "Fill to X%". Not to mention requested options for selective tyre changing or even just a simple option to not fix damage.
Disappointed to see nothing changed there.

Well, the game is still in Alpha, so there is still chances that they will do something here.

On one side it's kinda..:scratchch "euphemistic" to define the current version is still at "alpha" stage.. With its stability and performance it should be considered a "pre-gold" version.
But, as you say there are still many things to do and to be added.. it's just matter of time we have them.
In the meantime, i guess there's enough to stick with and to... ENJOY!!!!

There are lots of little things that should be taken care of, like the option not to fix damage....etc. (add a list here).
As it seems that some of these updates are stuck in the limbo (like the updated cockpits, the rewind feature in replays or some of the gui abnormalities...) we still get new stuff, like the new car and some combos. It still remains to be seen if the unequalities in different classes are smaller than before patch.
There are still some thing totally missing like realistic damage, false starts and other smaller things.
Still the patch was a big step forward (understanding that some stuff had to be left out also) but but just keeping calling it alpha is just getting old.
Still a good patch. Hope we don't need to wait to 2007 for the next physics update :thumb:

I also think that fuel should be loading in at the same time as the tyres are getting changed (which should also all be done at once, not one at a time). Why does everything need to be done once at a time?

Still the patch was a big step forward (understanding that some stuff had to be left out also) but but just keeping calling it alpha is just getting old.It will remain in "alpha" state until all of the final features have been implemented. Once that's done it will move to "beta" mode where features are complete, but bugs need fixed. When that is all done, then it will be "released". Scawen has said this numerous times.
I don't see why everyone has such a problem with the name alpha anyway. You still get to play the game, so what's the big deal?

It woul be silly to say it's finished, when it's not.

Most races i see are FORCED pitstop anyway, which kinda defeats the purpose imo. Why not let people choose their strategy?

It's no big loss, as the guy fixing your car has done some serious steroid abuse in his time ...

There are lots of little things that should be taken care of, like the option not to fix damage....etc. (add a list here).First LFS needs damage (even slight body damage) affecting performance, creating drag, small damage becoming a larger problem after stress, vibrations, etc. Now all that matters is suspension damage, you can go head on to the wall and have your wing(s) all bent up and you don't suffer any performance loss.

No... For that to work the damage model needs to be finished, and it is far from that. Current damage is simply eyecandy for now. Ever seen a formula car bend a wing like we do? If that would affect performance, that would be totally unrealistic. Wings don't bend, they break (or rather... shatter), so the only performance change would be loss of downforce.

But isn't LFS unfinished anyway until it reaches S3 final? Basically the only thing that "bothers" me is that some people just use the "it's just an alpha" phrase everywhere.
And since most of the content is there anyway, I just find it odd that there would be some major things missing. Just odd.
Just my 2 cents, not moaning :)

So it's not surprising that some things are finished while others aren't. :D
Eventually all things will be there and we can go Alpha -> Beta -> Final.

LFS isn't finished until S3. LFS_S2 isn't finished until AI works properly, damage is finished, etc. For now, AI doesn't work properly and damage isn't complete, so, there is no problem with people calling it alpha, because it is!
The way they are moving through the alpha, beta, final stages are the way it SHOULD be done, not the way other's do it. I would expect we have a very good chance that we won't see something like S2_1.0 Final, oops, here I fixed a major bug, so this is the patch for S2_1.1 Final. Oops, another bug, here's S02_1.2 Final, if you don't have 1.1, install that first......

I'd never seen an alpha project of a game appear on an Intel ad. :D
But yeah, there's lots of stuff that needs to be taken care of, still. Time will tell, but I do have lots of faith on the devs. They've done a terrific work so far...
Now I want my S2 license! =(

A question for scawen. Do you plan to make more changes to the cars hp, and weight in future patches?
