Kidcodea and me have done this new sky texture for Aston and Westhill sunny conditions. You can see it on all of the latest official lfs screens:
If you dont have it yet, check also our older update, which contains some 2048 skies and hires official skins...here (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=245)

OK, so what's the point?
How do they differ from originals?
How big of a frame rate hit can I expect?

Looks great and no drop in perfomance with the HiRes sky on a crappy computer :D
*edit*
Just curious as to why its only for aston and westhill? Will all the tracks be updated at some point?

Here you go. It doesnt hurt my FPS on 4xAA and 16xAF at all but I cant say I see really a big difference either!
Or better yet I like the more cloudy verison better.

Plz post a mirror to download.
I've already tried 15 times to download the Highres version, but download stops at 15%, another download on 78% etc....
And I'm not behind a firewall, can download other files from this (and other) forums/sites.

No one forces you to use it. We give it to you for free and its your choise if you want to use it or not. And you may notice difference in quality with lower FOV.

THX, looks great.. Any chance to keep all this (semi)official addons in one place (zip) for people who dont read forums (lfs.net / Additional downloads)?

So much better than the defaults. I didn't notice any performance drop. FPS was actually exactly the same. But I still decided to use the 1024x1024 "lores" version, that 4096 version sounds like it's gonna eat some memory? :) Only difference between lores vs. hires was that lores looked more like badly compressed JPG and hires was more smoother.
