Hello to all LFS Forum members!

Now, some of you may remember that when I was part of [CAD] last year, I ran the first Destruction Derby League (under the [CAD] tag), which was actually quite a success (despite the low turnouts in some of the rounds). You can view all the replays and results from the last season by visiting this (http://chaosaddicted.ace.st/results-replays-f11/) subsection of the old [CAD] forum.

Now back to the present, and back to a new season of good old DD racing and crashing, using our faithful friend that is the TBO class! There have been a few changes, which are outlined below:

1. The absolutely terrible registration system of last year has been scrapped. Numbers from 000 to 999 will now be accepted, as will personal skins. There will be no 2+ teams allowed; one-man teams are allowed, e.g. Barmy Army and Suicide Squad from the DD games, but aside from these, teams are not permitted as it goes against the nature of DD racing, i.e. all vs. all

2. This time around, we'll be racing on a different set of tracks (but in the same environments as last time) with a whole series of insane layouts that are ready to wreck those drivers who aren't careful. The proposed list, and names, of the rounds are below (definitive fixtures to be announced nearer the time):

ROUND 1: "Urban Brawl II: Return Of The A4" @ South City Long
ROUND 2: "Island of Destruction II: Welcome To The Warzone" @ Fern Bay Green
ROUND 3: "Classic Crashing II: Demo Days Demolition" @ Blackwood GP Reversed
ROUND 4: "The Upmarket Demolition II: TH£ D€STRU₡TI¤N D₤RB¥ ¢A$H-IN" @ Aston Club
ROUND 5 (Last round to score points in): "Circular Carnage II: Non-Circular Carmageddon" @ Kyoto Oval
ROUND 6 (League decider): "The Elimination Extravaganza" @ Autocross Skid Pad

3. The limits on the number of registered FXOs, RB4s and XRTs have been dropped, as this was a very silly idea at making the field balanced because it annoyed people.

The rules and schedule (http://chaosaddicted.ace.st/league-info-registration-f12/cad-destruction-derby-league-league-rules-t20.htm) from last year will be used as well; these may be changed soon.

The server we will be using is LFS Destruction Derby (many thanks to Ales_M and morpha for hosting this).

A registration form is available here (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=69018), so please register, and hopefully you'll enjoy some of the best DD action available on Live For Speed!

Would be cool if you'd give a few % of restrictions to the RB4 so a few of us would consider taking the FXO or the XRT:thumbsup:

Anyway, thanks for setting up another season, will try to make a few rounds this time:D

I'll have to get someone with InSim knowledge to set that up Yann; what would be an appropriate restriction?

I've absolutely no idea. It'd probably requires testing. I wouldn't expect it to be so much faster pacewise, but since its 4WD, it's easier to keep it under control while someone tries to punt you off. Also, you can get off gravel traps a lot faster with it.

If I had to make a rough estimation, I'd say 10%, but I'm not sure of it at all.

Apologies for double posting, but the fixtures have been decided. The rounds will take place bi-weekly on Saturday nights, starting at 8:00pm BST (7:00 UTC) and should last approximately an hour. Unfortunately, I've had to put some fixtures on that clash with other people's commitments, so apologies for that.

Unlike last season, there will be no test round this time around. This is because the test round was put in place to see whether the format would work, and thankfully it did!

So, here are the fixtures:

14th August: ROUND 1: "Urban Brawl II: Return Of The A4" @ South City Long

28th August: ROUND 2: "Island of Destruction II: Welcome To The Warzone" @ Fern Bay Green

11th September: ROUND 3: "Classic Crashing II: Demo Days Demolition" @ Blackwood GP Reversed

25th September: ROUND 4: "The Upmarket Demolition II: TH£ D€STRU₡TI¤N D₤RB¥ ¢A$H-IN" @ Aston Club

9th October: ROUND 5 (Last point scoring round): "Circular Carnage II: Non-Circular Carmageddon" @ Kyoto Oval

23rd October: ROUND 6 (League decider): "The Elimination Extravaganza" @ Autocross Skid Pad

Hopefully you can attend all of these dates!

Well... tonight was both good and bad.

Good points: the wrecking and racing tonight was pretty much the most insane driving I have ever seen, even surpassing rounds from last season. With people risking virtual life and limb to get to the top, it was a hugely enjoyable round.

Personal highlights are the crazy take out in Race 3, the fact that the XRT possesses the driver and turns him into an absolute animal who will kill everything in sight, and the battle for first between Faithless and Wheeling in the 5 lap finale, with each driver letting the other past more than once!

Everyone who took part enjoyed it, and I'll just say thank you to all 9 drivers who turned up tonight (and Elon, who unfortunately had to go just 15 minutes before the round started).

The bad point: I have to say I was deeply disappointed with the turnout from the confirmations.

Out of the 16 who had originally confirmed, one hadn't even sent his skin to me. From the 15 who had, 9 showed up (56.25% attendance from the confirmations; ironically, that percentage is more than last season's first round, although that was 16/30). One driver said he was most likely not going to show, and the other 6 didn't even say they wouldn't turn up.

After last season's attendance levels, and suggestions from drivers during tonight, I have decided to implement two new rules:

1. If you confirm for a meeting and don't show up, you will be given one warning. Get three warnings, and you will be banned from the league.

2. If, by 8pm UK time (7(S)/8(W)pm UTC / 8(S)/9(W)pm CEST), there are fewer than 50% of the confirmed drivers in the server, then the round will be postponed until the following week.

Replays and results will be online tomorrow.

Round 2 is at Fern Bay Green, and is entitled "Island Of Destruction II: Welcome To The Warzone". It'll take place on the 28th of August.

Yes, A very enjoyable race it was : P I think I had bad luck. 1st race I was second, in second race I got taken out in the first corner, in the 3rd race i took myself out while taking out faithless and in the final round i got taken out in lap 2.

But the crashing and racing was great, altho there wasn't so much of that for me ;S

But is anyone else making a video or can I do it? : P

Here are the results of the first round.

Nobody got either the Pit Lane Pummeller or the Slip Road Slammer bonuses, but this was practically irrelevant as the 1000 point mark was broken in every race of the round! Also, the league's first ever Air Attack was performed in the third race by Faithless; the craziest race of the night saw half the field wiped out before the first bend!

Many congrats to Faithless, winning 90 points ahead of one of last year's competitors, Wheeling, and 430 points ahead of Twoπr. Also many thanks to everyone who showed up last night, including Elon who sadly had to pull out urgently just before the round began.

Not necessarily; if the two cars are close together, then you would be able to get the bonus if the car behind sped up and the car in front didn't have time to react before its front end hit the barrier.

The first post in the thread is now being turned into a general "information hub", where all the relevant threads and posts can be found.

Also, as with last season, the committed DD driver that is General Hybris (http://www.lfsforum.net/member.php?u=119179) has made an online table which shows all the separate points gained by the league drivers over the rounds. Jon606

Well... wow. This felt like an entirely different series tonight, compared to last time.

With an all-time record turnout of 87.5% from the confirmations (with 2 guys who sadly turned up too late to race and 1 who told me afterwards that something had unexpectedly turned up), this has made me think twice about changing the day.

Races-wise, there was action all over (surprising for such a large track); 606 RIOT SQUAD and 22 Lertz, and 021 Blackout and 69 H.v.Promotech both had some big battles in Races 3 and 4 respectively, with the former coming off better each time, and 834 uiop somehow managed to land on top of the wall just in front of the golden gates in the last race! Also, well done to 69, who had signed up last season but due to other commitments couldn't race, for taking one of the races tonight (but have you won that race, hmmm? :smileypul)

There didn't seem to be any bad points apart from some lag, but everyone enjoyed the round once again. Let's keep these numbers in the double figures, and hopefully increasing!

Round 3 is going to be subtitled "The 9/11 Memorial Round", as it takes place on Saturday the 11th of September. What will we be doing on that day? Tearing up Blackwood GP Reverse in "Classic Crashing II: Demo Days Demolition"; how many suspension springs will be wrecked by those ramps over the course of the round? 100? 200?? 300???

Hopefully you'll show up for another action-packed round of DD fun. If you, or a friend, want to join in the fun after reading this, just click here (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=69856) and sign up! You won't be disappointed! :thumb:

Here are the results of the second round.

Once again, neither bonus was achieved (although Wazzaaaaaaa! came close to achieving the crash bonus, and many of the drivers tried to get the stunt bonus... and failed :tilt:), but once again the 1000 point barrier was broken by at least one driver in each race; let's keep this up! :thumb:

The second race of the night saw two records broken; after an insane flatliner on uiop and many hits on fellow drivers, Wazzaaaaaaa! broke the crash points record for one race with a crazy 1525 points! uiop also broke the probably unwanted record of lowest points scored in a race without spectating, only scoring 50 from his 10th position placing. This race also had pretty much everyone wrecked by the hillside after trying to get over it and failing miraculously :D

Wazzaaaaaaa! took the round, 125 points ahead of league newcomer BLACKOUT, and 405 points ahead of RIOT SQUAD. Many thanks to all who turned up yesterday, including Fighter and JHI who sadly missed the start of the last race.

The League and Race Standings (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=1470188#post1470188) will be updated shortly, with the online scoreboard (http://destroy.host.sk) also getting updated.

It should have been random grid order... I'll have to double-check on the server for that.

Jon606
11th September 2010, 20:34
After the record total last round, I'd have to say I was disappointed with the 9 from 15 confirmations, a turnout of 60% (with one guy who showed just after the round finished, another who I knew wouldn't be able to make it in time, and 4 who I have no idea about). Please try to meet your confirmation if you can; if you can, then please tell me in advance if you won't be able to show.

Onto the round itself, and despite the single-digit turnout, I'd have to say that everyone who raced enjoyed it. As usual with the Blackwood layout, there was a lot of broken springs and rolled cars, with Race 4 having over half the field out at one point! Due to the ramps, there was a lot of aerial attacks as well, which will give those drivers big big points. One hilarious point of note was at the end of Race 2, where 606 RIOT SQUAD decided to kill his car by throwing it into 427 Mookster, only for Mookster to actually land from the hit and gain 50 points away from RIOT SQUAD!

The only bad point I can think of was that the server had quite a big lag on it, and this affected some drivers, but apart from this, there was no moaning of the sort.

Round 4 is the money round as we'll bank the points gained so far at Aston Club for The Upmarket Destruction II: TH£ D€STRU₡TI¤N D₤RB¥ ¢A$H-IN", coming into circulation on the 25th of September.[/terriblefinancialpuns]

Hopefully you'll show up for another action-packed round of DD fun. If you think a friend or team mate would want to join in the madness, just tell them to click here (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=69856) and sign up! They won't be disappointed! :thumb:

P.S. Next time I'll proof-read the server and race information before I send it! :schwitz:

Here are the results of the third round.

For the first time this season, one of the bonuses was achieved. uiop got the Stunt Bonus in Race 2, but this was pretty much insignificant after a whole load of records were broken:

1. 666 Ämpäripää became the first driver to score over 1000 points in each race, eventually ending up with a record total of 5675 points for the round, breaking the highest total for any round so far, and also the first driver to break 5000 points for a round.

2. The final race saw the records for highest race total with AND without deductions smashed, with 2 Jyrsis getting the latter with a crazy 2475 points (mostly from 3 720° Gut Busters, gaining him 400 points each time), 225 points in front of the old record, set by Jyrsis way back at the test round for the first season! 06 Magnanimous got 2325 points, and the former record, after losing 50 points for repeatedly talking, mostly about wanting to race a FZ5 for 10 laps on the track. :D Both drivers also broke the Crash Points record from the last round, each getting a mad 1725 points.

So that's 6 records broken in one round. Who said that a small number of drivers is bad?

Ämpäripää obviously won the round, 1150 points ahead of 427 Mookster in second, who actually tied with Magnanimous on points (a seventh record broken; prior to this, no two drivers have finished a round on equal points). However, as Mookster had won one of the races, then he gets second ahead of Magnanimous.

Just one better than last time for our second-highest turnout of 10 from 14 confirmations (with the third successive "one person showed up too late for the round" and 3 I don't know about) which is a turnout of 71.4%. Please try to meet your confirmation if you can; if you can't, then please tell me in advance if you won't be able to show. I also have to apologise about the severe lateness of the Race and Server Info being sent out; I got sidetracked by other things and didn't get it sent off until about 20 minutes before the round.

The round itself was quite okay; the initially-not-suited-to-DD-racing environment once again showing that it is quite suited, although the barriers decided to play their dirty tricks on a lot of drivers; the final race had 2 guys taken out in the first corner! 834 uiop seemed to be on the warpath for most of the round, being a sneaky driver by braking and then taking the driver out (although I personally frown on that myself :smileypul), while newcomer 326 Sam won two races in the round, but did he win those races? You'll have to wait until tomorrow to find out...

Lag was a severe problem tonight; I don't know whether it was the server crapping itself or just bad connections, but if you are able to, then please try and sort it out. Also there were some complaints from drivers because I didn't tell them certain rules. Well, this might sound a bit dickish, but the Race and Server Info PM has the League Rules linked in them, so please read them before the round (again, partly my fault due to the previously mentioned statement above).

The penultimate round, on 9th October, is the last point scoring round, and also the last round that is open to anyone who hasn't raced yet. If you have not raced in the league so far, then you will not be allowed to race in "The Elimination Extravaganza" on 23rd October. Round 5 goes to the Far East for the ironically named "Circular Carnage II: Non-Circular Carmageddon" on the Kyoto Oval. "Why is it called "Non-Circular Carmageddon"?" you may ask, but there is a reason for this. All will be revealed in 2 weeks time... ;)

Hopefully you'll show up for another action-packed round of DD fun. If you think a friend or team mate would want to join in the madness, just tell them to click here (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=69856) and sign up! They won't be disappointed! :thumb:

Here are the results of the fourth round.

The second bonus of the season, the stunt bonus, was achieved by 12 Wheeling, and was also the first ever bonus to be achieved on lap 1 of Race 1 in either season of the league, gaining him an extra 500 on top of the 1000 for the bonus itself.

Due to the fact that the Aston environment is probably the second-worst DD setting (Westhill is first for obvious reasons), there really wasn't that much action for crash points... well, until the last race. Wheeling and uiop had an almighty points battle, with the latter coming out on top by just 50 points. Another reason for the small amount of crash points might have been because Ämpäripää forgot to turn up

The three new drivers - 210 CelticFang, 326 Sam and 444 Pikey - performed well despite the former and the latter getting repeatedly wrecked (Pikey was killed 3 times in the round!), with Sam outshining them both, with a great set of performances, including 2 race wins (he won Race 2 overall) only slightly worsened by the fact that he didn't realise that crashing got you points :D

Wheeling helped himself to the second-ever highest round total of 5550, a staggering 1850 points in front of 834 uiop in second, who was 950 points ahead of 76 Clyde in third.

The League and Race Standings (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?p=1470188#post1470188) will be updated shortly, with the online scoreboard (http://destroy.cheaphotel.de/) also getting updated.

A good showing of 12 tonight from 16 confirmations (2 of the 4 who didn't show I don't know about), making a total of a 75% turnout; the second best so far!

As far as I know, the Crash Bonus wasn't achieved, but the double points bonus was used to full effect by many drivers, so good work guys! I have to say though, if we'd had a bigger grid I think it would have been a much more exciting round; there were only a few cars left running during some races, which made the action a little bit poor at times. However, there were some crazy takeouts and insane hits, the best being 666 Ämpäripää's huge fence-climbing shot on 12 Wheeling in Race 3, and 2 very bad pieces of luck for 22 Lertz: first, he was just 2 turns from the finish in Race 2 before 834 uiop took him out and stopped him from taking the race win. Then he got taken out by 606 RIOT SQUAD on the front straight in Race 3! Tonight's only newcomer 144 JHI also had a good set of racing performances, winning Race 2, but did he hit enough to get the overall win for that race? He'll have to wait until the results go up to find out! :smileypul

Annoyingly, the server problems didn't stop, which led to a few timeouts, and a very strange problem with 427 Mookster in Races 3 and 4; after disconnecting to try and sort out his connection, he returned and somehow appeared invisible to everyone else. A very weird incident indeed.

Well, that's it for the points aspect of the league, and 2 of the 3 titles will be decided in a few days after I get the results sorted. But the big one is still to come; after last year's champ SlideTech has unfortunately not shown in Season 2, we'll have a new LFS Destruction Derby League Champion after The Elimination Extravaganza on the 23rd of October at the Autocross Skidpad, in what will be a DD to the death (not literally though )! Will you be able to win? It really depends on who your competition is...

Also, I have to say that the turnout from this season was highly improved over last year. Compare the two percentages below:

2009: 31 drivers from 72 registrations = 43%
2010: 24 drivers from 39 registrations = 62%

7 fewer drivers overall, but 33 fewer registrations! Well done to all who showed up! :thumb:

No, it doesn't mean that.

Basically, to give people who have done either none or a few rounds a fairer chance, the number of rounds that person has missed is multiplied to their score from Round 5.

For 0 or 1 missed round(s), the score doesn't change (a x0 would be stupid, and a x1 is just the same score anyway)
For 2 missed rounds, the score is doubled (x2)
For 3 missed rounds, the score is tripled (x3)
For 4 missed rounds, the score is quadrupled (x4)

Unless someone managed to get like 4000 points and missed 3 rounds, I think you'll be safe :)

Anyway, the REAL league title is decided in 2 weeks on the 23rd. Hopefully you'll be able to make it. I'll send the confirmations out shortly.

Here are the results of the fifth round.

Nobody got the Crash Bonus, but the Double Points area was used to full effect by practically everyone who raced (same as last time then!)

The red and white barriers flipped a whole load of cars again; their "best" moment was in Race 2, where no fewer than 3 drivers were caught out! Unlike the previous rounds, it wasn't the last race where everything went insane. For some weird reason (NOT related to the disappearance of 427 Mookster from my PC ) pretty much everyone went mad. This was reflected in the bonkers then-record score of 2825 from 666 Ämpäripää, which included a then-record 2225 crash points, and 3 people breaking 2000 points, with 606 RIOT SQUAD only scoring crash points, albeit 2050 of them! Race 4 saw an ultimately crazy act of destruction by uiop, in which he practically aimed for everything that wasn't either a) solid or b) a barrier. This resulted in an absolutely batsh*t 2900 points, a record for any of the races so far, with the new record of 2400 crash points achieved.

Debutant 144 JHI had a solid performance, with a good 2800 points, although he did complain about a lack of action (but he did race around most of the time not hitting anything :D)

In what I've never seen before, uiop took 3 of the 4 races, all with 1500+ scores, resulting in a bizarre 7300 points in total, which was 2015 ahead of Ämpäripää in second, with 12 Wheeling 515 points behind. However, with the addition of the Missed Round Multiplier, 444 Pikey, who scored an excellent 4175 points, won the round overall with a crazy 12,525 points from his 3 missed rounds. JHI got second, 1,325 behind after missing 4 rounds, and the only other person to miss more than 2 rounds, 23 General Hybris, got third, although his final score was 25 points shy of a 5-digit score after his 3 missed rounds were taken into account.

Jon606
12th October 2010, 15:23
Apologies for the double post, but I think it's now time to announce the winners of both the Overall and Race Points titles. "Winners" is actually the wrong word to use, seeing as the same person won both of the points titles.

Now, this driver was one of the first to sign up for both seasons so far, and I can honestly say that he has a true DD racer mentality; he knows when he has to race, and when he has to crash to get those big points. His absence from Round 5 last season unfortunately killed his title hopes last year, but this time around he has so far been the only other driver (apart from me obviously :D) to have attended all the rounds so far. Compared to last season though, I have to honestly say that he has improved greatly, pulling off some huge hits while having some great laps, which really resulted in a round win at Round 4 1850 points ahead of second place.

So, without further ado, I'll announce that the point-related titles both went to...

:woohoo: :clapclap: 12 Wheeling! :clapclap::woohoo:

Ironically, one-round absences were great aids to Wheeling's titles, which were a grand 19,770 points in the Overall standings, and 6545 points in the Race standings. Nearest rival overall, 666 Ämpäripää, missed Round 4, while his race rival, 76 Clyde, missed Round 3; I think that had both of them been at their respective rounds, they may have just taken the titles away from Wheeling.

So, for Season 3 (if it happens, that is), Wheeling will be able to race under #2, #3, or the two-digit combinations of the two (so #23 or #32). However if Wheeling does not want to wear any of these numbers, then Ämpäripää will be able to race under #2, and Clyde under #3 (that is, if they're taking part next year).

EDIT: After finally entering last season's Round 5 result into the online standings, I can confirm that Wheeling took the title of Race Champion from 98 Oliver (now known as Wazzaaaaaaa!), although with a much lower score, as Oliver had an outstanding 7550 over the 5 rounds last year; an average of over 1500 points per round! So a late well done to him! :clapclap:

We got 10 from 11 confirmations; a season and league best of 90.9% (834 uiop was the only person who didn't show).

After an aborted start due to 669 The End turning up late, we got back underway, and 12 Wheeling was instantly eliminated, rendering his triple crown chances over before they even started. One by one, drivers went out, until the last 3 were the two Englishmen 76 Clyde and 326 Sam, and the German 23 General Hybris (1966 and all that WAS mentioned ). At around the 15 minute mark, Hybris was destroyed, leaving it a battle between the XRT of Clyde and the RB4 of Sam. They battled on and on and on, neither one looking to have the advantage of victory. Then, at 19:44 on the clock, Sam unleashed a huge shot onto Clyde which roofed the Pac Racing Club XRT. The 10 seconds in which he could be rolled over again passed, and I can now announce that the OVERALL WINNER of the LFS Destruction Derby League 2010 is...

:woohoo: :clapclap: 326 Sam! :clapclap::woohoo:

Apologies for a double post, but here are the results of the sixth round.

In the time it took 2 Jyrsis to get eliminated first in last year's finale, which was 93 seconds, 3 drivers were eliminated, all lasting under a minute! In fact, in the time it took for the round to go down to the final three, last year we still had six cars going; insane! 23 General Hybris made it two final threes in a row, although he failed to finish second like last year, lasting 40 seconds longer than in 2009. Just under 7 minutes after Hybris went, 76 Clyde went too, handing 326 Sam his title crown.

Congratulations to Sam for taking the second LFS Destruction Derby League title, and also a thank you to all the drivers who took part in the round, and the league.
