Hi all, i recently bought a PS2 - USB PC adaptor, i have a Guillemot Ferrari Shock2 Racing wheel which is designed for the PS, the usb adaptor works fine but the brake pedal does not work (might be a fault with the wheel itself) and the wheel is either in the centre, full lock left or full lock right, i have tried most other suggestions on the forum but to no avail. Is this a known problem that PSX wheels don't work as they would as if connected to a console? If so then i guess i need to get a PC wheel but if anyone knows how to fix this, then many thanks :)

It is tough because I do not have that wheel to experiment with.. It is possible it won't work at all.. But usually if you can get a controller to be detected, it will work.
Is that a true FF wheel or just a rumble FF wheel?

It doesnt say FF so i'll wager its only rumble. But i imagine it wont work :/

hello i have ferrari f1 wheel for use with playstation.
i also have usb to ps2 conversion .
but im stuck with the joy pad till now as the wheel wont center properly and also it steers too far when i turn to the left i think it kind of turns far too much with the slightest turn on the wheel less than 2 degrees and the car wheels turn to full lock for some reason
will give the WingManŽ Gadgets
and see if this will center it but i think some of the connectors are dusty as it has been stored in an attic and has also been gathering dust along time in my room besides this the wheel was alright last time i used it in live for speed..
my other problem is the paddle on the wheel seems to have lost its spring and is not nice to use. this is the gas button and dont really matter as pedal is same.
my question is will it break for parts to make an better one or would it be wiser just to buy an momo force wheel ?
the pedals must be worth keeping as they could be a spare pair or even work as a clutch ?

It sounds like the wheel itself might not play well with the PS2 to USB adapter. I have an adapter that I use with my PS2 pad in other games, I use a dfp for LFS, and this works fine but when I tried a friends old PS1 wheel it operated in a similar way to what you describe.
Does windows report the wheel axis as an axis corectly? It sounds like it thinks the wheel is a digital joystick. If this is the case there is not a lot you will be able to do unless you can convince windows the wheel has axis.

yea i got a few games out of it the other day after posting and it was very nice for 3 or more games after using some software it was working as it should .
and the wheel wont work right in 2 mode's
can i use the pedals as a clutch?

4.60 driver.. Uninstall all old drivers first. It works great- one of the best FF wheels for PC on the market actually..

FYI, he says Driving Force not Driving Force Pro. I assume this is the blue one. I've used my buddy's blue Driving Force and it is quite chinsy and cheap compared to my Momo. I imagine the DFP feels as solid as my Momo.

That would be the pro if he is correct.. Yeah I have the DF, momo, and DFP.. The DF original is ok, but does not compare to momo or DFP.

I've been using a PSX dual-shock gamepad for many many years, without
much problems. Some adjustments are sometimes required for the deadzones
and sensitivity, but that's mostly it. I made the adapter myself which uses
the parallel port for communication. On Win9x i'd use the DirectPadPro
drivers, while on WinXP i use NTpad (something like that) all PSX gamegear
has worked on it so far. I've used the blue Logitech wheel for the PSX also
and it worked fine. In fact, the very reason i tried the wheel was LFS :)
I suspect either a problem with the adapter (although i doubt it, there
isn't that much to go wrong in the wires, they work or they dont, the
basic connections are pretty much common to all adapter. The only major
difference being in the connections to use multiple controllers.
I'm not sure how the over-the-shelf adapters get their power for the FF,
but i imagine most are USB which must be able to supply the power on
it's own. The parallel port however, from what i read in the DPP
documentation, cannot supply sufficient power and therefore demands
that you run a parallel wire with additional power. Something along the
lines of 6-9v i believe.
Then there's the driver. This might be where the problem is imo. Make sure
you read all the documentation for your adapter and wheel and search the
net for forums of users like you having similar issues. You'd be amazed how
often you can fix problems like this.
Of course, i'm supposing you've already done the basics which is calibrating
both in the wheel driver and in the game.
