View Full Version : The Official *F1 comes to LFS* Celebration Thread

As I noticed, it seems that F1 does not have a solid fan base on the forum, some even go as far as opposing to a F1 car appearing in LFS.:scratchch

Adding a F1 car in is a huge step IMO, it proves the devs' determination to make LFS THE sim, and will probably make it the most well rounded racing sim. Moreover, I think it will draw big attention, there're reportedly 300 million tv audience per GP, as the first pc sim that features a F1 car since 2003, people may become more interested in LFS than ever.:thumb:

Personally I never get it when people interested in racing dislike F1. It's the pinnacle of motor racing...well, words may become powerless in such situations, I highly recommend everyone take a look at the attached video, it shows what F1 is all about. Speed, Drama, Excitement and a lot more...http://www.megaupload.com/?d=458SBW1X :smileypul

Above all, I hope BF1 won't let us down, GT cars are superb in LFS, but I am not convinced that the open wheel ones are well simulated. A few hours time we will find out!:tilt:

Thanks for reading and welcome to comment!

Let's see if we can make 100 threads about the BF1 before it even ****ing appears in the sim!! Come on guys, you can do it!

:really:

Honestly I'm 100% more excited by the prospect of an improvement in handling for the RWD road cars than I am by the addition of an F1 car, and I consider myself a big F1 fan (I have watched the pacific-region races live for the last 10 years or so, getting up at 5am here in the UK).

Sorry if this thread annoys you in any way, yes I agree with you that technically the physics improvement is a bigger step, but adding a F1 car while it hasn't been done for years isn't something you could do in a new little patch every time. I feel that lot of LFSers are here because of the road cars, GT or drifting stuff, I may be wrong about this, but BF1 will attract lots of potential buyers that's for sure.:tilt:

And if your a F1 fan, download the vid and watch!:D

It doesn't make it superior for me with adding a Formula 1 car, even if its the third real car (along with the MRT5 and RAC). I know F1 from years ago and I formerly watched it with interest but I don't think its the kings of all motor sports. Maybe the kings of formula motor sports? There's speed, drama and excitemen in other motor sports as well :D

I also never liked F1 games that much

And for some reason I cannot sleep tonight.. and I tried. I just went for a shower *sigh* :D ... now I'm a believer *sings*

Yeah I know, maybe I should've said "the pinnacle of open wheel racing". But that's what's amazing about LFS, people with slightly different interests could still race together and have good fun.

I love F1, but at the same time love racing in general, it isn't hard at for me to get into another racing event. For the speed, drama and excitement.:D

Advise: sleep late, and get the patch when waking up late in the afternoon.:tilt:

I'm one of them who isn't really excited about an F1 in the game, but it's still pretty cool and I'll probably try it and race it on ocasions. And as said, there is speed and excitement in other racing series. I for one am in love with the Speed World Series, American LeMans and Moto GP. Love many more but those are the ones that poped into my head right now.

Cant wait to see how the new tyre model will be. Hope the rear wheel drive cars will be more competitive.

I agree, it's become more of a corporate event than a racing event. We don't have those crazy gladiatorial racing drivers in F1 any more - instead we've got whoever looks good for the media, or whoever can bring sponsorship, or whoever can provide commercial opportunities in new markets. It's all a big glitz parade for investment banks, and financial products are not exciting, regardless of how many racing teams rely on them.

Good racing (http://www.martderijke.nl/?page=videos), budget lot under 10000€ I like this more than F1 :P

Unfortunately, it's so true that F1 has become more of a corporate event, but maybe you have been distracted too much, F1 is RACING above all things around it. Commercials aren't really what fans care more about. Even in 2005, a year which saw Renault dominance, we still have great races like Imola and Suzuka, and this year F1 has become more exciting than ever, I predict a great season, maybe only 2003 could better it.

21st April 2006, 02:34
I find F1 too clinical, too sterile to be exciting, some beginner and hobby class series are much more fun to watch as there they really push hard and generally there is more going on also it is easier to see those things as F1 is too sensitive all moves need to so small. Wings are bad for racing, imo.

I'm not a F1 fan but I do understand the importance of this car to LFS.. it's one of those make or break moments really.

F1 is without doubt the biggest motorsport event in our world (anything American doesn't count - they need to learn a world series means you actually have to compete against other countrys, not homeland states :p )... if the BF1 is a success, well, it could mean HUGE things for LFS. Knowing the DEVS past work, the BF1 will make not break LFS and I want to be a part of it even though F1 isn't on my list of top motorsports :D

(That's fairly bold of me to say, but I'm confident in the DEVS talent.)

F1 has a very healthy following amongst LFS drivers. But the presence of an F1 car makes no difference either way to LFS' status as a sim.

Great move by the devs. I'm super excited to see an F1 car in LFS. Hell, I'm excited that we have a "real world" car in LFS. Hopefully real world tracks aren't too far off. I just hope that we'll get new sound and setup options for this car. Cant wait for the updated tire physics too. Not sure which I'm most excited about.

wE1l

:scratchch Team orders, sure. Got to love it when Barrichello wins races and moves over to gift it to Schumacher. And it's nice the way the FIA judges penalties based on how the championship is going - like reinstating a driver's points to make for a closer competition.

There's also the less-subtle stuff, like when Mansell got pole position at Adelaide in 1994, and Bernie Ecclestone told him to let Hill and Schumacher past at the start. I wonder how many other events like that have been engineered by the management without the spectators knowing anything about it :scratchch

How often does that happen? I haven't been following F1 for that long but I couldn't see things like Bernie telling drivers to back off happening in today's F1. Farewell to those good old/stupid days.:D

IN 2004 i think, was when Barrichello gently gave his pole to schumacher on the strait to the finish line, on the last lap? Or many other times when schumacar sudently takes the position from barrichello. Those a the ones that i remember right now, i know there is more. I personally hate barrichello for what he done, i know many brazilians do too. Wish a new "senna" appear again (from brazil i mean) someone who has the guts to say not i will not let you pass!! I hope Massa wont do the same as Barrichello did.

wE1l
21st April 2006, 03:20
That's the whole point - nobody outside of F1 knows. It certainly used to happen, and modern F1 is all about "the spectacle" rather than "the racing", so it is probably more likely to happen now than it ever was before.

You basically can't trust F1 as being proper sport. It's like boxing - it's just a big stupid media bullshit event tarted up to look like sport.

if it's like what you said, then wicked may be the word. however chances are very low in my opinion, from my observation, it no longer is the case.:)

It's early in the season, the rotten stuff tends to come out later. Usually the earliest indication tends to come from Ferrari though, they're the dirtiest team.
No i think you will find that is renault. Fisi's car just happens to always f*** up whenever he is beating alonso. Also McLaren had montoya let raikkonen past several times last season they just did it very subtly.

How priceless was fisichella's comment over the pit radio that was broadcast on ITV lol

Any additional car is welcome.

Driving the BWM Sauber F!.06 within todays most realistic sim will be a very exciting experience, no question, although personally I would prefer to have a BMW M3 GTR in LFS.

Now with the BWM Sauber F1.06 LFS rounds up the whole bandwidth, from 55hp Mini to 700+hp F1 cars, which also demonstrates the outstanding LFS physics being capable to handle them all. This is one of LFS's strengths, so people can pick up various types of cars depending upon their preferences.

To me this April thing isn't just a simple patch, it's a major update and will mark a milestone within the whole LFS development process, especially since major global players are now involved. Although we don't know the details about the partnership with BMW and/or Intel, everything seems to be possible now. Real race tracks as requested by many people are no longer out of reach, this has become more a less a matter or manpower, so sooner or later (guess even sooner) the devs will have to enhance their development team.

Some talk about F1 not being exciting enough, too commercial or too political.
In what way does that affect the experience of driving an F1 car in LFS? In LFS WE create the excitement, and there's no politics or commercial interests involved.

I am thrilled about the BF1. I grew up with formula 1, I have basically been following since I was a little kid.

LFS' goal is to be the most realistic and complete sim it could be. So it only makes sense to include an F1.
So devs, next patch we'll see a LMS prototype like car? :tilt::D:nod:

Please don't state opinion as fact. Different strokes for different folks. There is no "best" motorsport. It's just personal preference. And here in the U.S. nascar actually gets the most attention by far. A lot of people here wouldn't even know what formula 1 is if you asked them, while everyone knows what nascar is.
