View Full Version : Global 30 day ban - What's the use?

Johnny Mountain

Hi... I just wanted to ask, that what's the point of having this feature on LFS? I mean, if you have been pissing people off in multiplayer, then why can't you play even in SINGLE PLAYER? :really: I'm not whining or anything, just wanted to ask. I bet LFS is the only thing with this feature...

Jakg
22nd January 2010, 12:42
You can play LFS in single player.

Whats the use? What do you add to the community that you get banned from so many servers?!

Ales_M
22nd January 2010, 12:46
If i got right info you must be baned from 36 servers to get global ban.

HOW the heck you get baned from 36 servers? :Looking_a

22nd January 2010, 12:49
Quick search:
a) There is already a master ban system in place, which happens automatically if you get banned from x amount of servers in y amount of days. I can't remember the exact threshold values off hand.

b) There is never a need to lock LFS for testing, IMO. If you really must use a locked copy of LFS for some reason, have a second install that you never unlock.

It's 30 servers in 30 days Bob, which is pretty good going really :tilt:

Whether that's correct or not I can't say, wasn't confirmed by the devs

Seeing how you wrecked other people on purpose on several servers, especially on iCON's and NDR's, this is well deserved, honestly:thumbsup:

Enjoy your ban, hope it'll help you a bit to have a think about yourself:thumbsup:

What's the point of this thread?

You caused mayhem on servers, now face the consequences. Complaining will only make it worse for you.

15 bans within the last 30 days actually.

Is that banned from 15 servers in 30 days or banned 15 times in 30 days? Just asking because I was testing an InSim application some time ago that caused me to receive a couple of bans on one server in quick succession, I won't bother explaining why http://image.morphorum.com/ugly.gif

Victor
22nd January 2010, 18:29
15 bans without regard for which LFS host.

And to be clear, ppl get a warning email at 10 bans. Additionally after this, they see a warning message every time they go online, stating how many bans left until global 30 day ban. It goes away autmatically when enough bans have expired (ie. are more than 30 days old).

I mean, if they miss that, then we can't help it either. They were informed.

Two types of people get banned from LFS: Crashers and insim coders :D It'd be good if it required unique hosts, or tracked a maximum of 1 ban per day per host, although I usually only use /kick (and typically that's only to clear AI's) I do recall getting a warning email after doing some development work a little while back.

I just wanted to say I've joined servers thinking hey some people to race with only to promptly get banned because I was intruding in their "private" but open session by joining or because i'm the wrong nationality. You don't even get a chance to quit or asked to leave. Just banned.

you can't ban someone just because of their name.

Of course, you "can". And in some cases, you should. For example with clearly racist names.

"Crash Dummy" is not a name like that, though.

Maybe LFS could have it's own investigations unit to seek out these kind of people and take appropriate action. Just the thought that there is an LFS 'Police' that they can be reported too would probably make these idiots think twice.

idiots cant think twice if they cant even think
and those idiots are often such idiots because they behave so idiotic that they dont see their idiotness and if you ban them they dont know why because of being blinded by their own idiocy

Don't you find it embarrasing that there are 13 year olds acting more mature than you? I've seen your online antics, and if you are an adult, then you really do need to grow up.

Haha, by the way, always love you Brits for being so dumb after being humiliated. "James, just ignore him, he just wants some bloody attention. It's quite almost my tea-and-cookies-time anyway."... I just asked why there is a global 30 day ban... DAMN!

You sound like you're having a strop because you don't like being ignored, with some generalisation thrown in as a cheap shot for good measure.

God, at least get your generalisations right, its tea and crumpets or biscuits, or Jacob's crackers. Cookie is an American word.

OK let's get something straight here, Jacob's crackers are not a substitute for biscuits, and cookie is derrived from the Dutch word koekje and is not an American word at all. In Britain we do have cookies but they are not the same thing as biscuits, Americans have biscuits but they call them cookies, which is also what they call cookies.

Clear?

OK good, now for the confusing bit: Americans also have biscuits. It's a savory thing and is in no way related to actual biscuits - which is what Americans call cookies. Also some Americans call scones by the name biscuits, but they're insane.

EDIT: And just to add further confusion the word biscuit in the Eastern block refers to sponge cake - but this from a people who write their R's backwards is not suprising. Biscuit derives from a French word bescuit, which in turn comes from the latin - and is an abbreviation of 'twice cooked'. The change of meening occurred in America after the war of independance when the Americans went on a spree of being as un-English as possible, a mistake which they've made up for since by becoming allies and bossing us about - thus making us more like them.

OK now do this one: America invented the Internet.

15 bans within the last 30 days actually.
So in theory I can set up 15 hosts and ban someone I don't like from all of them, and they are globally banned?

It's worse in LFS because it doesn't kill you, so you can just go on happily crashing

Really, I don't get why the moderators keep on giving infractions for posting "Ibtl" and this kind of things, but let the guys who are actually ruining the image of the community such as this troll acting, without even reacting:shrug:

Pathetic TBH.

Dunno about that, I was a lad last time I checked my 'lunchbox'. Is that really the best you can think of?

Just don't crash, hokay? You'll find LFS is a lot more rewarding when you take the time to learn how to take on the best in a fair fight.

I've been noticed that this 'new generation' uses lot of this... word? They always put 'tbh' in the end. Is it some kind of a signature, or somethin'?
