I was just racing the UF1 a moment ago, and only just noticed a dial on the dashboard which seems to not make sense. It works (well it moves, i dont know if its working as i dont know waht its for!) but it seems to change as you turn, i also here a sound which is a bit like the FXO turbo winding up after/during cornering. Searched the forum and couldnt find any info, any of you guys and gals got ideas as to what it is?

actually, its been discussed alot. I remember people saying it was like for a feature that wasnt implented yet or something..

Thanks for the quick reply, strange how i didnt find the thread relating to it
One thing i found was it only moves off the throttle, if you're accelerating or braking i didnt notice any movement, which was puzzling.

Didn't we establish it works as a fps gauge? It would change on corners because the distance it has to show is less, making your fps go up! Correct?

Thought it was a guage for the soon-to-be-implemented NOZ feature ...

Roadie

LOL Thats it!!!

We all knew it was coming...and the UF needs it most :D

Roadie
12th April 2006, 05:05
for the UF1 it could be like Feet Per Second... cuz its so slow.

Aiight, for real

Does it dynamically adjust or are the people with ridiculously high FPS off the scale :D

its the pressure gauge watch it as u change through the gears its something to do with the dumpvalve pressure

Oil pressure?

tristancliffe

Frames per second?

Matrixi

It's the FPS meter as tristan said, has always been. On turbo cars it's replaced with boost meter.

That one's easy, It's this one I just can't work out

Matrixi

In a naturally aspirated car. Doesn't LFS have oil pressure gauges or are they only in Papy sims?

Erm, clock? :D

Its not fps, unless the FPS on the car is different to the FPS on my screen. and it does make a turbo whine noise on corners. (turn the volume up. might try and get a replay) Still cant work out what it is. And even if it was FPS, where the noise coming from?

tristancliffe
12th April 2006, 16:30
It IS fps. I promise you.

The noise is something else - perhaps you are driving a turbo car and you're looking at the wrong dial?

_Rob_

Look at the dial
Then go into options, misc (i think), and put the fps limiter to 20fps or something, then look at the dial.
I think you'll find it is FPS, as most replies in this thread have stated, and there is no noise with it...

Okay mate. I'll repeat the posts above, just so you have it easier. It displays FPS. :P

It tells you how long you have left until your next Pint is required. Great Idea Scawen :D

Does the 1 stand for minutes or hours then? :x :D

What's fuel?

And what is that thing you see in front of you when driving? It's round and has some text on it. I have similar thing on my desk but it says microsoft... You can turn it and then the car turns too.

And omg!! What the hel* is this, hmm? It moves... Oh, it's my hand, sorry about that one :D :D

Theafro

I never noticed that the fuel gauge was in binary before, 0-1 is much better than E-F

Vain
12th April 2006, 17:37
Actually it's not binary elsewise a gauge would be quite uninformative, because it'd only jump from one to zero at some time without any steps in between :) .

:D

Just noticed I didn't have a signature, so I stole yours ;) .

Sorry... Anyone else think a FPS dial on a car is a little strange?

Vain
12th April 2006, 18:59
No, absolutely not. All my cars had an FPS gauge!

Turbos have that.

XCNuse

okay.. for those that dont know.. there are several gauges in LFS
they are:
fuel
clock
water temperature
FPS gauge (the one pointed out at top of this thread)
turbo pressure
and i believe thats it

as for there being an FPS gauge i think its kinda funny and kinda cool in a strange way.. but hey, if you run using Shift-F without any info on screen it could be needed (and if you have never experienced low FPS, i will tell you that when your FPS gets below 35ish, your response times have to be earlier because your car reacts later.. so there is latency you have to adjust for, and its even worse so .. once you get below 20 fps, you well.. cant really act, just hope you dont crash lol)

No dynamic adjustment unfortunately, it just goes to 120 and parks
