Err...no you don't, you can, and many, many people do, myself included, use the "GT4" wheel (read Logitech DFP) on the PC.
If its the best, well, that is up to personal opinion, but I beileve its one of the best.

Just install drivers for it and it works 100% on PC and in every possible sim.
This is because Logitech's stupid advertising tactic. It just has that stupid GT4 logo on it and Logitech doesn't officially support it for the PC but the official drivers (see the link) still has full support for it.

MRT5 - A Formula SAE car from McGill University, Canada. It's the 2004 car I believe, and will almost certainly have been superceeded.
Raceabout - A prototype car made by a Finnish Polytechnic I think (can't remember which one).
The rest are fictional, though perhaps based [heavily?] on real cars or a mixture of real cars.

I just installed the drivers for the my logitech wheel and the gas and brake dont seem to be working. When I tested it in the installation everything worked. When I went to the controls menu, it didnt respond at all. Did anyone else have this problem? One other thing, why is there no 900 degree turning radius?

You need to setup some things...
First go to the contorls and choose "Throttle / brake axes" to "Separate". Then click "Axes / FF" and then you will see axes on the right. When you press gas/pedal the sliders on the right should move. (If those do not move you didn't install the drivers correctly or something else is messed up.)
Then click the button which says "Invert 0" and it changes to "Invert 1". Do this for both, Throttle and Brake as seen in the image I've attached below.
Finally just choose the right axes for the steering, throttle and brake. First click the button which says probably "none" next to "Steering". Then choose the axis for it, it's probably "Axis 1" on the right. You know what the right axis is when you steer your wheel or press gas/brake pedals.
ps. Don't mind about the different looking menu in my attached picture, I'm just using custom background and button colours, the options itself are exactly the same as you have.
One other thing, why is there no 900 degree turning radius?
It's the "Wheel turn" option in the upper screen.

I got the steering to work although it still does not rotate 900. As for the gas and brakes, i dont know what Im doin wrong. When I start a race the throttle is floored then it lets off when the light turns green. The brakes do nothing as well. Ive noticed that the bar for the gas and brake are the same thing. The bar goes up all the way when u hit the peddle, then when you brake it goes down to nothing, but why is it under the same axis? Im guessing I have to change that, but Im not sure how. Im just an idiot

I think solution for that is easy... go to the Logitech Profiler Software (you should find a tray icon from the tasbar), Options -> Global Device Settings and uncheck "Report Combined Pedals" option. This should fix it.
Now that you are here in the Force Feedback settings, you could make the proper force feedback settings for LFS:
Put "Overall Effects Strength" to 100% (or somewhere between 50-100%)
"Spring Effect Strength" to 0%
"Damper Effect Strength" to 0%
And then check "Enable Centering Spring in Force Feedback Games" but set the slider at 0%
Just make these settings as they are the recommended.
And there should be also that steering wheel rotation option, which you should change to 900 degrees. I don't know what it is called in the Profiler Software settings window because I don't have Driving Force Pro. But it's in the same window as the force feedback settings.
And one more thing, the graphical ingame wheel in the cockpit of the cars doesn't turn 900 degrees so don't rely on that. And anyway you can't turn full 900 degrees because the cars in the LFS demo has 720 degree steering. :)
