Via a router?, make and model then I can tell you how to open the ports on it, also do you have a software firewall on the laptop?
Also might be an idea to give it longer than 1.5 hours before you start bumping your posts, some of us are sleeping ;)

LFS uses 63392. But I must admit that I dont understand to your problem much. Where do you got that message about port opening? Do you try to host game?(thats how it seemes to me from your last post) Can you give us some more detail?(or just for the slowly-thinking butterheads like me:))

When hosting you need to open the ports.
When playing as a client/guest you do not. However, a firewall could still be blocking the application or traffic on the LFS port.

using an outdated patch or maybe firewall blocking or router...

Try unlocking ports 81 and 80 UPD and TCP...and of course download the latest patch here -
http://www.liveforspeed.net/file_lfs.php?name=LFS_S2_ALPHA_PATCH_Q.zip
Also, if windows firewall is enabled, you will have to allow LFS to connect to the internet.
Do this by going control panel/security center/ scroll down and click on windows firewall...
if it is turned on, then click on the exceptions tab, click add program, and add LFS.exe
