Hello. I have a problem. When I try connect to any server there is message "waiting for guest info" and then an error "did not receive guest info (Lost connection to host)". Thanks for advice.

I get that error every now and again. Does it happen everytime you try to connect or is this the first/only time?

i get that all the time now that my connection has packet loss problems, most of the times it wont receive master server confirmation or error out like that, so its definitely a connection problem, talk to your internet service provider or as i did change it.
here's a funny one:

Looks like LFS has given you a part of the answer to the "Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything". :Looking_a

Sounds like you have a terrible ISP, are you connective via dial up or wireless? Neither are ideal for gaming.

I have very good connecting. This is an academical lan. I tested it on http://www.abeltronica.com/velocimetro/pt/?idioma=uk&newlang=uk This is a result:

I am having the EXACT same problem.....I just switched ISP's from a local, to Earthlink. Earthlink is SUPPOSED to be better. I tried everything.

While I am running dial-up.....I have had few lag problems in the past(with old ISP). Now I can't even get on.....:(

dial up was better than my current cable isp. doesnt matter if you have 10 or 100mbit internet, its packet loss that does this.

So I can`t play this game on internet?

So..............I need to contact my ISP and complain about packet loss? Can they do anything aobut it? I checked the activity of my connection......the packets 'received' was higher than the 'sent'. Does that matter?

goodie, since you're on an academic LAN, certain traffic maybe being blocked. I'm afraid theres not much you can do, apart from talk to the network admins.

Methyl Ethyl, received packets will almost always be higher, unless you're running a server of some kind on your connection. Don't worry too much about that. Check with your ISP that they're not blocking non-standard traffic and ask if they have any routing or issues with packet loss.

I called Earthlink.........they are clueless. I am an American trying to explain to an Indian what my problem is and all he does is give me a boiler plate response. The only thing they tell me is that I can't run on-line games witha dial-up connection(even though that's what I have been doing for a year with no troubles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

SURELY there is someone else out there using earthlink that is able to get on......

I STILL can't log into other peoples servers.......BUT I CAN create a race on-line and people can join my races.

SOOOOO, goodie, if you still want to race on-line try creating a race!!!:thumb:

I am having exactly the same problem and have discussed it in my own thread, mostly with myself :D

http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=6940

As has been said, this is most definately down to a poor service from your ISP. While your connection may still download files and surf the internet perfectly ok, the packet losses on your line will absolutely ruin your online gaming experiences.

I have contacted my ISP, and I hope the problem is only temporary as before now the service has been perfectly OK.

Google for 'Ping Plotter'. This nifty little program will tell you your ping and packet losses to any internet address. Using this tool helped me rule out any other causes and placed the blame firmly on crappy connection.

Nighthawk and I USED to have the same ISP.....but I changed mine.

I will give that ping plotter a try to see if I can tell what is going on.......

Thanks for the info..........I feel your pain. :(

First of all, sorry my bad English.

I changue my IPS, since then I have the same trouble. With my old ISP I had static IP, now I have dynamic IP. In my router I only changue the WAN configuration (static IP to PPPoE). I canīt conect any server.

But I can be host, when a racer join the server, in the client side apears the mesage "recuested TCP packets for position updates" and in the server side "using TCP packets to” and the nick of racer. :scratchch Seems to be a UDP trafic trouble.

I try two diferents routers (conceptronics and sagem), the DZM mode, but without chagues.:(

When I try with a adsl modem runs well. :thumb:

Thats definately wrong configured router.Did you allow also forwarding the UDP packets in your router?

Hello,

I have the same problem. I have the latest version X10. It was working perfect few months ago, but now I have a router. I tried to set up the router, but I'm not sure it's correct, could you help me please?

Is this the right screen? What is the "Trigger"? What number I have to use?

More than three years old. I think its annoying to bump very old threads but OK. Might be not a big problem with this particular one.
