well i was thinking about the small 'puttt' fire in exhaust that results when u downshift....i was playing GT4, and there are similiar effects....just thought it would be really cool.
also, neon effects? popup lights on the XR? it would be really cool.:thumb:
and finally.....night tracks....like really dark so u have to use ur lights...
the physics on LFS is just amazing.....keep it up!

Backfire: good idea.
Neons: Hell No! That's NFSU stuff and you'll never see it in LFS. Plus you're only the nine billionth guy to suggest that since S2 came out.
Night tracks/lights: been suggested, some track graphics have been made, don't expect realistic lights anytime soon (there's already a thread on that topic in this sub-forum).
Rule no 1 of posting: try the Suggested Improvements thread/search function/FAQs before suggesting improvements. A quick browse of this place can reveal all sorts of useful information.
Welcome to LFS :)

Hey, I'm always nice. I did say "Welcome" :)
Is it your mission to reply to every thread on the forum today? Go do some work :D

Woah
What'd you do to make her move that far away? :D

lol didn't long story short I met her over there when I lived there 3 years, working on greeen card as we speak... it's a very LONG process... makes us irritated that I can get my "greencard" to live in the UK in 24 hours. For her to come to US it's 6 months to a year....

Wierd. Takes so long to be a US resident but they'll let any tool-bag with a rich father cheat his way into being President ;)

oops sorry
after posting i realize there were like 5 other ppl who suggested the same thing
but backfire....think it would be so awesome! :thumb:
how does one programmer come up with such a realistic physics engine....in my opinion its more realistic than gt4....and that was the motherlode of all racing games.
one drawback about LFS is the sound.....the turbo sounds like someone making sounds with their lips....

Let's get something straight..
LFS = Simulation
GT4 = Arcade game
You seem to be yet one of these people who believe everything the Sony/Polyphony marketing department tells you. :shrug: "The real driving simulator" they say in the cover of GT4.. just let me laugh. It's a good arcade game, but it's not a simulator, not by a long shot.

I don't blame you downwiz, I made that same mistake early on in my virtual racing career (with GT1, NFS and others, starting in 1997)...later I wondered if my m4d GT/NFS console skillz would transfer to a wheel/pedals combo with PC racing games like GPL and later LFS and netKar...that's when I discovered the meaning of "driving simulator" :)
Wait till you try netKar Pro, I think you'll be impressed if the namie is anything to go by (I can't wait but I have to, dangit) :nod:You can still d/l the free namie if you're curious...

very nice....although i wish there were more cars other than the F1 ones
what i like about GT4 is not only the physics engine (its pretty damn good), but the fact that each car is engineered according to its specifications, even the engine sound.....so in a sense this is what GT4 draws its line in console/arcde racing games.
what i discovered about lfs is that WOW its actually CHALLENGING to be driving first time....i was blown away by the details....like blown tires if u do burn outs too often, interior....most importantly hands moving sync with teh steering wheels (remember nfs4? :schwitz:)
im suprised how one programmer is able to do all this.....compared to GT4 takes a whole team.

lol GT4's engine isnt that great, plus not everything is really near exact on that game, alot of cars dont.. even have the right shape apparently
as for sounds.. they are okay, but nothing close to how it sounds in life
as for physics... well... you just go take a turn at 50 MPH and slam the brakes at the apex and then slam the gas again and try to keep going in GT4............... then do that in life lol if you never post again.. well.. then i guess you figured out that.. you cant do that lol
i promise you, i have gone as far as i can from taking off every type of help.. the physics engine in that game.. really isnt that good

Y'know, there was probably only a couple of guys doing GT4's physics. The instamatic point-and-shoot driving engine is a galaxy away from LFS's complexity. Even good old vintage Grand Prix Legends whoops GT4 in the physics department. The rest of the team would have been dedicated to sorting out the licensing issues on the 600+ cars, and getting the specs of every single bloody Skyline ever made in the history of the universe :D
Having said that, as far as arcade fun goes, nothing beats a Guinness-fuelled Gran Turismo sprint at Deep Forest with stock Dodge Vipers against a good mate :nod:
