Good evening racefans,

I was thinking about holding a one off single H2H event at some point during the next month. I'd like to gauge interest in this event so if you have any car/track combination suggestions, post here and we'll test them out. No date has been decided yet but it will be on a Saturday at 1900 UTC.

Sorry for asking (I know that you hate this question), but will there be winter series in 2010, and are there any news on how Tim is doing in his trail? Or did he come back already? Sorry if it was posted somewhere already...and sorry for off topic. Just can't wait for the next series. :D

There will be a winter series, and Tim will be back at the end of September (I spoke with him just last week, all is well).

As for this event, I can see that UF1 appears to be the most popular choice. I'll have a little think about tracks later.

I have no problem with the UF1, but I personally would like to see a car with a little higher rank in the spectrum of motorsport skill. I still like the idea of restricting a car, but if you guys wanna do UF1s that's fine too. There are a bunch of cars H2H has never done though...

As for going back to FE1R with the UF1, well if I remember correctly that wasn't the best H2H event I've ever seen. We had quite a few incidents in the chicane... The final and semi's were pretty epic though... It's a track were even a small mistake can really make or break your race. This could be a good thing, this could be a bad thing, I'm really not sure myself...

I was thinking of different ideas. One thing that really aids the broadcast is having lots of passes. I was thinking it would be cool to have an event where more than one car is used at the same time. Only problem is, there must be two races and PTW is excluded.

For example, XR vs XRG... We go to a track where the XRG is faster (to account for the start difference.)

Round 1
Race 1 - Patrik (XR) vs Me (XRG) - Me starting in the lead.
Race 2 - Patrik (XRG) vs Me (XR) - Patrik starting in the lead.

Winner judged on time.

Really rough idea there... Might have to code some crap too, so... The more I think about it the more I dislike it because the PTW really brings a lot of excitement.

I'm just not sure

For clarification UTC = GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). THIS IS ALWAYS THE CASE AND NEVER....EVER CHANGES.

Currently Britain is on BST (British Standard Time) therefore GMT +1

Therefore if an event was scheduled to take place at 19:00 UTC/GMT then it would take place at 20:00 local time in (Britain) before 25th October 2009.

Any date after the 25th October 2009 it would be 19:00.

See lfsworld (http://www.lfsworld.net/) and check the top left hand of the screen for a local time and UTC comparision.

(I hope I got that right...otherwise my team bosses are going to be pissed at me for making it worse)

I'm fed up of little kids like you ruining the entire LFS experience for anyone else who just wants to have some clean racing without controversy every once in a while. You're part of a plague that is gradually overcoming every aspect of the LFS community, and I wish you would stop, and piss off to some other community where your useless imput will be appreciated, because it certainly isn't appreciated here. This is what I was waiting, thanks for saying it finally.

And please don't delete my posts anymore, who ever did it, it wasn't smart. I was explaining you the thing, and you couldn't answer.
Why I asked that is because UTC/GMT in summer is one hour back than it is in winter, so if it would happen in UTC/GMT in summer, for me it would be 1 hour later than in winter. But if it's like Mackie said, then it's good. I was just waiting for an answer, but you deleted my post and couldn't answer it properly. :)

And when I was in LFSProseries.net, they had it at the same time UTC 19:00, but when it changed to summer time then they wrote UTC 18:00 so it would be at the same time which was correct, unlike you did. :)

Thanks, bye. Let's stop offtopic now, even if it wasn't offtopic. :P

Best thing to do if you are ever unsure is to look at LFS World and as I said it will have the local time to UTC comparision in the top left.

One thing I forgot to say earlier when I quoted you: just remember that the place you live being in summer time doesn't mean the rest of the world is.

Heck, we are/were on winter down here.

The event time must consider this. It should be doable for the most people everywhere, and we found that 19:00UTC is quite alright. So sorry if you can't 1 hour later.

It was close to happening, and we fiddled with the idea of doing it this weekend, but it was delayed too long before deciding so nothing will be done. Unfortunately I won't have access to the 'real' internet again in two weeks time, and next weekend (the last possible weekend for me to run it), a lot of people will be going to the LFS Karting Meet - of which I am jealous.

Long story short, I would like to have a one off event, or even bring back the series really, but I haven't had time. Not having a truly stable job is putting a serious pinch on that as well, but there isn't much I can do- especially since when I don't have a job (this one ends in 2 weeks) I will be living with my parents (cheaper rent) and they don't have access to an internet connection capable of racing (or any online multiplayer game in a real-time sense).

It wasn't a silly event. For what it's worth CSF and Boothy did a fair job at running it. The participants behaved very well, and it was a decent time.

As for Head-to-Head, I promise it will return. Unless I die or something seriously limits my use of a computer - it will return. "When" is the question, the answer is; as soon as I get a stable lifestyle going again, as I'm still on a pretty bumpy ride from my little adventure last year.
