What makes them stand out among the many other servers running that combo?

Just asking. If you are already advertising the server here you might as well do it properly.

Actually, you should watch a replay of the one (1) time we touched. It was in Turn 1, and I was on the inside and you turned into the side of my car. Then after the race you had to use namecalling for revenge.

perhaps i should, but i remember turning into T2 (not T1, T1 is the sloping left under the bridge) and having to slow down for the massive pile-up of cars that amasses there (because everyone drives like a noob on the first lap)... and then a second later i get rear-ended and sent into the wall backwards. after that i had to let the entire pack through just so i could turn around. plus i had to pit to fix my suspension damage.

edit: okay, so i watched the replay. there were 4 cars in front of me, you were behind me, some white car flies and hits you, zooms past me and into the wall. i had the line, and you didn't. i was turning in and you weren't. you flew into me and i hit the wall backwards... then you drove off without as much as a "sorry".

Sorry you're right, it was Turn 2. But I'm sure I didn't hit anyone in the rear. But I do remember my car and another touching side to side. Of course, I'm old, so I could be wrong, but I don't think so. If you were hit in the rear I think it must've been some other driver.

PS; In the unlikely event that I'm wrong, Sorry.

I'm not quite sure what you are showing with these images, but it doesn't support what you are saying. It CLEARLY shows Robubba along side you AND slightly ahead of you going into the turn.

From those pics... it looks as if Robubba had the inside line... and you came down on to him...

Regardless of who has the preferred line, it is the responsibility of the car on the outside to give enough room on the inside if another car is there.

This server clean?

I've been there a few times and the racing is a distaster. Usually it's filled with people who haven't got a clue how to drive or race. It's kind of a newbfest there.

And removing people who aren't racing clean/fair? Hmm i remember someone crashing and hitting others. Admins said they were speccing him but didn't bann or kick or even tell him to race properly.

Ahh well, It's a combo that kinda attracts newbs i guess.

Thanks Guys for positive comments we are trying to do our best we are working on the limited Admin side of stuff give us a chance we have only been up and running for less than a month.

sometimes its you that has to be the one that slows down and waits for them to crash the reason we don't kick the "noobs" straight away is because as i have been driving as3 for just over half a year i have seen "noobs" come on and within a week they are in low 42 and high 41 area for instance a guy called narval not very good driver but when he asked for some help "most" people ignored him but the ones that did help him now he is better race and faster

Thanks Tur8o

Ive been on there 7 or 8 times now and ive only finished one race there without being rammed into on the first corner or people just not braking. I used to race on conedodgers everyday and it was awsome only ever had a few run ins with people and most of them where just racing incidents. Last time i was on AMG i said i wouldnt be back and im going to stand by that.

It's funny that they all ban the wrong ppl. They ban the guys that knows how to drive and lets the noobs stay. I know that everyone needs to learn to drive, but a guy who doesn't know how to drive on a straight does not belong on a full server.

Technically i'am one that fits in the segment "Newbie", only doing ~140 laps. I'm now at 1:43 high (after 2 Days) and wouldn't be there without watching the well experienced drivers lapping that track. Cant remember crashing someone by the way. I know my Place.
But what i can remember is that there were less "newbies" in the evening (GMT+1) and much more well experienced Racers, at least for the last 2 days.

I quiet like the Server and the Admins are doing a good job. You cant keep a Public Server free of guys that cant Race fair or even dont want to. They try, and thats the best thing they could do. Keep on Racing

BUMP with GIANT EXLAMATION POINT!!

I've said this before too, we all need to stop saying NOOB when we should be saying CARELESS or WRECKER. There are a lot of NOOBs that are very respectful of cars around them. It's the idiots that just don't care who is around them that are the problem people.

For the love of all thats good, if you are running a GTR server, dont use the Aston National that everyone is bored of.....

Well the smart thing to do would be to use that server as a qualification for a more experienced server. People with a sub 1:42 lap time can go to the experienced server, above this and you have to stay in the inexperienced server until you can do it.

Why, because some people are bringing up that you hardly ever ban the people ruining other peoples races? I was on this server a few days ago and it's all pretty much true. Whenever someone new would come on an inevitably get wrecked by someone who had no care for the other cars on the track they'd try and get that person booted. The reply was "hahaha yeah right they don't kick people out here" and no one proved those words wrong.

In one race the same guy messed me up twice. I don't think it was intentional, but I do believe he is a big danger on a crowded server. Due to the "no naming and shaming" policy I can only say watch me at 5:45 and 11:10. The same guy both times. The first time he was completely clueless how to negotiate being lapped, the second time he was completely clueless how to negotiate the track (lol 5 turns and one chicane how hard can it be), blocks the final chicane with people in the points racing to the finish and well... it all goes horribly wrong.

AS3_race_6L_31R_18F.mpr (http://pikunderscored.info/files/AS3_race_6L_31R_18F.mpr)

I (rather rudely I should admit) told an admin that there were lots of wreckers and he said "I don't have eyes on the back of my head" which is almost funny when half the server is complaining about the other half. I'm sure I wasn't even the only one who had problems in that race, just watch the chat and go to whoever just gave a "wtf" and see how silly the racing is.

Framaris
11th August 2009, 08:53
First I am not an AMG user and I didn’t like the racing there either (I wouldn’t say it is bad and I rather say I don’t like it, that engage only me), but it is not easy to run a busy server and I will always have respect for the ppls spending great amount of time trying to entertain the LFS community, it is not like they are making money out of it, it is their server and they can manage it the way they and their community likes it. I think it is very dangerous to start that kind of topic here since we have seen many times what’s happened, there will always be unhappy ppls and they tend to be the first posters to reply. I would rather see constructive suggestions to improve things than free critics (good or bad), keep in mind that it is not possible to satisfy everyone, so if you don’t like a server why spend time racing on it if in the end you have to spend time trying to make them look bad here.

There are many different ppls who likes different things in LFS, we need to respect that and if we don’t like something I believe the best way to show it is to avoid racing there. The problem is that many ppls want to race where it is busy and expect everybody to race exactly the way they like it, there are many servers and teams, just find the ones you like and keep it to that…

Also I want to say that a bit of solidarity between the teams wouldn’t hurt anyone and I believe that jealousy is not helping our cause (revenge will always be around the corner), personally I am always happy to see a new team getting some results from their hard work… So GO GO GO AMG, keep doing what you’re doing and try to improve where you can!:thumb:

pik_d

Actually the power to weight is the same. They have the same peak power output and weigh exactly the same. The FZR is probably better balanced (it's the only one with a rearward weight distribution), it seems to have a better power delivery (no turbo lag out of slow corners), and to be honest it's easier to get the hang of than the XRR.

Someone whose better in the GTRs can probably give you a better answer.

Because when people congregate to specific servers and most of the others hardly get more than 2 or 3 people we'd like those few populated servers to be free of people likely to wreck our races again and again and again.

Then again if this server attracts all the flies... maybe that's a good thing after all.

FZR has a naturally aspirated engine. The XRR has a turbo charged engine. It takes some time to get the turbo pressure up. The XRR also has no traction of the line and in short races you canīt afford to lose any time. Thatīs why there are mainly FZRs. And how can it have a better power to weight ratio? Both FZR and XRR weigh the same and have the same amount of power.

Go to any track, then floor the throttle hammer in 1st gear when the lights go green. Do this with all 3 cars and youīll see that the XRR has the worst traction. You also see more sliding out of corners from XRR drivers. It generally has less traction than the FZR, but thatīs also down to the fact that the FZR has itīs engine at the back.

Better drive the car you like more rather than the car thatīs "faster". I drive the XRR for most for the time although I think I could be faster in the FZR. The only thing where the XRR is more difficult than the FZR is under braking. When you have to downshift the reartires sometimes lock and the back getīs abit lose, but aslong as you donīt shift down to quickly all should be fine. There is not an all that big diffrence between XRR and FZR on AS3 as the XRR has a fair bit of topspeed.:)

Even though FZR is faster, it is as challenging to drive as XRR :) The rear tyres of FZR doesn't last long despite my efforts to be smooth. Maybe it is the setup issue, as I haven't made it for FZR myself yet. And it is easier to control XRR in the first corner of AS3, than FZR :)

I have raced this server a few times over the last few days, and I have to say that it's very enjoyable racing.

Yeah, there are occasional crashes, and most of the time they are in turn one, but what would you expect? 25 or more cars, all having a long run in to T1, braking from 150mph to 108mph within 20 yards, and all trying to navigate without touching anyone - that's part of what makes it such a challenge.

I've not experienced intentional crashers - every race replay is watched, and 9/10 times crashes happened because of the volume of traffic in a single corner. That's racing and if you cry about it, then go play mario kart instead :thumb:

I can't count how many times i've watched wreckers go about lap after lap knocking ppl out and there would even be two or three AMG guys on the server, chatting amongst each other... and guess what? nothing is done about the wrecker... even after they have been told several times.

No its not being compared to CD , a few CD have posted here but its a disscussion about the AMG server .

The disscusion about the pros and cons of the xxr was infact quite interesting , so I stand buy my previous post

As you have all of 6 months in lfs , go hijak some other topic :thumb:

How much time must somebody spend at LFS for the right to say something in the forum?

you're quite right , the 6 month thing was a cheap shot , on the other hand its not really about the right to say something , more about really knowing what you are saying . knowledge gathered over time ..

@Jrd.racer , sorry about the 6 month thing there buddy , was an uncalled for comment

I'm one of the admins, you might know me as AMG Steve. I'm most chances the softie of the group. I have only ever banned one lad(he was a smasher and a half) and kicked about 3.
I can't really blow my trumpet here, I have had nights on the server where I can't get a lap in. And found myself joining the "noob" hunt. It depends on the mood of the day, some days I help everyone and others I just cant be arsed with it. I remember racing on Conedodgers, it was some days the best racing ever... and other it was total shite! This is the same for each and every other server on LFS. Some could say CD admin were to hard and some might say AMG are to soft. but it's a fine line between nice admin and take the piss admin! Each admin are different(as you know). I can be god to one lad and a total wank to the other. It's all part of the gaming life. I deep down love every minute i'm online whether it's LFS, BF1942, Total War and so on. The one thing I will say I have come to notice, is that the faster the racer gets the more of a noob he becomes. Or how about this, the more the monkey climbs the tree, the more he shows his arse! We are the ones with 10k of laps, race laps times in the high 1.40's and low 1.41's yet we are the ones that don't slow down for learners at the chicane.... we go to close to people we have never raced with before. And when they hit us we go nuts! I too have found myself doing this. It takes someone with a level head to remind you of this(Daddy Sin:thumb:).

Anyway I only came on to say hello!

Take is easy

P.S I type faster than my brain can work, so please don't laugh at any grammer or spelling!

Steve

Better drive the car you like more rather than the car thatīs "faster". I drive the XRR for most for the time although I think I could be faster in the FZR. The only thing where the XRR is more difficult than the FZR is under braking. When you have to downshift the reartires sometimes lock and the back getīs abit lose, but aslong as you donīt shift down to quickly all should be fine. There is not an all that big diffrence between XRR and FZR on AS3 as the XRR has a fair bit of topspeed.:)

blip the throttle between downshifts:)

and it never gets lose, now matter how hard you brake..

weellllllll......obviously if you have a far back brake bias and slam on the brakes its gonna break no matter how much blipping you do ;)

i have never been much of a gtr racer though :scratchch

Better late than never.... I never come on forums that much. Only when bored and have nothing else to do! But doesn't matter if its 6 months old or not. The issues are still the same! lol

it will lock even if brake bias is 100/0 F/R:razz:

this is because engine speed does not match the wheel speed..
