They serve food from 12:00pm till 3pm.

This is where we grab a bit to eat a soft drink ( no drinks before racing )

After this we head to: http://www.gpkarting.com/gpmap.pdf

This is a detailed map of how to get there. While there will have 15 mins Practice. We are in the process of extending the Qual, and then 1.5hrs Enduro racing with driver changes.
The cost is £120 per team based on the following:

there is 2 drivers in your team.
If there is three drivers in your team, then you will need to let me know.

I do need a deposit from all Karting drivers of half the price per driver. So if you are 2 drivers per team, then I will need £30 deposit. If you are 3 drivers per team, then I will need £20 per driver.

I have emailed the people that have PM'd me as requested my contact details. If you have not PM'd me, then please do so to confirm whether you are coming, and / or you are Karting. This way I can keep everybody informed at the same time, with one easy email.

Here is a contacts details of some hotels that are close by. I am leaving it up to the person to book there own hotel room, but a few of us are aiming for the Best Western, as Breakfast is included in the price.

A few people have said that they are unable to send cheques, so another option is to send via Paypal. Again, please PM me if you want to take up this option.

I know this deposit thing is a pain, but this not only confirms you are coming, but also Books your Kart.

I was just trying to look up this pub, which was quite hard because you got the wrong postcode...

NN5 5HY <-- this is what it should be. :)

If anyone else is wondering where the pub is, you can find it by looking up the post code in streetmap.co.uk or you can see it on the zoomed in map of the location of GP Karting.

Car Simulations, Kitchen repairs, Postcode Research...

when does this chaps talent end...

So if Scawen is good with postcodes, should we be asking Victor or Eric about telephone area codes? Or are you in charge of them too :D

Hi All,

OK With just over 2wks to go, everbody knows what happening? No, well let me fill you in.

Some people are meeting early. Me personally, will not get to the event until around Lunchtime, as I am picking 3J and Franky500 up from the airport.

I think, SC and V and the Cyberseat guys are getting there around lunchtime also. For those that are karting, you need to be there for approx 2pm, for drivers briefing etc etc ready to start at 3pm. If you don't have a driving partner, then you can choose one of the day.

After then event, trophies will be awared and presented to you by SC and V. Cyberseat will be there through out the day for those that are coming along to spectate and meet fellow LFS drivers.

I hope you all ( that are staying ) have now booked your rooms, if not , then well good luck in finding one :)

Then its back to the Thomas Beckit Pub for a few drinks and a re-cap of the days events, and also a chat with the Devs, SC and V.

I would just like to thank, SC and V for attending, and also V for getting the Cyberseat to come. and well, to everybody that is coming.

Lets hope for an enjoyable and rememberable weekend.

Yeah, no problem; As long as you dont kill me I'm happy with it :) I can also provide 2, possibly 3, fast hosts for video of the day as well :)

Just a quick question to all - are we meeting outside, at the pub, or in the centre? If so, when are most people arriving, and how will we know that "that bunch of people" is the right bunch?

Place your bets:

Burberry, with phat exhaust (which will sound terrible, but he likes it), and thinks that driving with one hand at the top of the steering wheel whilst playing tunes so loud other people's ears bleed makes him the next Schumacher...

Either that, or as his name suggests, he'll just come with a V4 motorbike and basically cheat.

you found me, im on a bike, lol. i race them too, but i wont bring my track bike.its only a 400, so its not like a 180mph rocket. just 140, 0-60 in 4.5ish, but i still aint sorted the long first gear, so takeoffs are a tad slow.
i rarely do any 'dragging' as i find the track much more fun, any pillock can wind the throttle back, but it does take skill to get round a track even relativly quickly.

if i was seen in a burberry hat, i would want to be killed, i hate the load zaust thing, completely killing any compression in the engine, and i prefer a good sounding race bike to any stereo.

look forward to putting faces to names

tristancliffe
12th October 2005, 12:16
lol, glad to hear you hate burberry - yo've gone up in my estimation just for that :) Isn't burberry the same pattern on the lining of grannies raincoats? Why do chavs like that? And why do chavs wear tracksuits all the time too?

That's an [Edit: VFR400] NC30 right (the road bike)? I lusted after one of those when I had a ZZR250, but I ended up getting a car, and leaving the bike world behind til I can afford to run both (i.e. after graduation I hope).

If the Race bike a RC30/RC45, or am I not uptodate with bikes?

v4forlife
12th October 2005, 13:08
yep, the road is a nc30, solid engine, and apparently one of the quicker ones, but ive spent a bit setting it all up. now the race bike, thats a vfr with a difference. its still a 400 nc30(the graphics guy put the wrong sticker on the side:(
it has a HRC tuned engine, flatside carbs, dymag magnesium/carbon forged 3 spokes, carbon seat and tank and anything that can be switched for ally, has. also got a specially built ohlins rear shock waiting to go in, to replace the rebuilt standard one, and that goes along with the rebuilt forks by showa.
looking at about 75bhp at the wheel, and 150kg with a 1/4 tank

:EDIT: almost forgot, well i did, but thats a morowaki high level system, and im looking into getting titanium pipes for it. its got bt090's there, but i have slicks on it now, with some deep cut woad tyres for wet weather.

Well it kind of recovered!!!

I left the bit I cut off at Fordman's house. Then about 5 days later I realised the bit I cut off is held on by 4 screws. So I undid them, and removed the rough cut part. So now my Momo is more streamlined, lighter, and I don't bang my knees on that bit anymore. Of course, I didn't take the most efficient route to that end, but at least I provided some comedy for the day/week/months/however long it takes you lot to forget :D

6 days ... i repeat 5 1/2 days.. that is 4 days and 30 hours or so. thats jsut short of 7 days LEFT!!!!

i hope nobody decides to pull out.

what are the FINAL(ish) Numbers. and who is with who in the karting teams. and WHO is the one that will go slowest because of their size (me...)

I plan on having the WIDEST kart on the track (gonna bring a long lump of 2x to make sure of that.....)

so.. whats the latest?

Franky we're not supposed to be trying to be slowest racer, but the fastest. Perhaps that's why you do bad online. ;)

MyBoss, I thought all you Scandinavian types were supposed to be big chaps. Can't you just put Norway on some chains and drag it into port in the UK? Probably get a parking ticket though, lol. Could get the train the rest of the way, or get a lift off some trucker.

I'll be wearing my MRNL cap, as pictured to the left. I might even pull that face as well. :p Other than that, who knows. I could wear just the cap tied around my waist, but I suspect some decency might be in order. Actually that's a point, is there any particular clothing recommended for the karting? Something well padded I assume (but lightweight). I can bring some smarter clothes for the pub afterwards.

ayrton senna 87
17th October 2005, 20:18
just bring t shirt and jeans, i dont usually wear any t shirt or jeans under my suit, but i would reccomend wearing them for GP or u may get crabs or something.

basically, bring as much of your own kit as you can, not only is it less likely to smell of arm pits, but its easier to distinguish drivers from other drivers.

thin soled shoes are pretty helpful too, i dont wanna see sandals fellas!

ayrton senna 87
18th October 2005, 06:47
DaHoe : yea, they provide you with a race suit, helmet, (very bad) gloves, no need to worry if you dont bring your own kit. although i believe for events like these they have some higher quality suits, which are not used very often and are well looked after, so no need to worry!

if you have some motorbike gloves or similar i would reccomend bringing them because the gloves they have there are very uncomfortable, dont help ONE bit and look silly to say the least.

I'm aim to be there (Northampton generally) somewhere between 9 and 10am. This leave a few hours to chat, meet people, follow LFS people from the Station without them knowing, and collect my wits.

I'll probably post my mobile number somewhere - say on the vMax forum, for those that want it. It might help us all meet up if we have some numbers known. I'm using an S1 kart, so I won't have tyre wear/heat or punctures to worry about. The downside is that that physics aren't quite as good, and I can only have 10 car grids. Oh well, details details...

I hope that the server can hold 20 drivers and that no_one ;) gets disconnected during the race.
