just got lfs and problem was found

it says, "LFS: could not detect any suitable screen modes"

You read it, but what did you try?

Reinstall DirectX 9?

Get new drivers for your video card?

i reinstalled direct x 9
graphic card: Diamond Stealth s60 Radeon 7000 (http://www.diamondmm.com/S60AGP.php)

Only other thing I can recommend you do at this point is uninstall your graphics card drivers and software completely, and then get the newest drivers (these here (http://www.dmmdownload.com/support/current/library/graphics/WIN2KXP8_12.exe)) and install those when Windows wants to add new graphics hardware.

Because this "error" in LFS is suspected to be related to your video card.

shift-F4 for windowed mode, and .. well oviously it acts as a window so you can change the demensions
