how many times do you really need to unlock lfs during a week?

It's actually two unlocks per week.

You get three when you purchase S2, use 1 to unlock it initially, so you have two left, which is also the maximum of unlocks to have.
If you use them, you get one unlock back every week.

The question remains though, why you'd need so many unlocks?

Only one unlock per week now.
Every friday morning you will receive an additional unlock to your LFS account, unless you already have two unlocks available at the time.

If you have play LFS in a cyber bar, things are different.

Yes, or on work PC (in my case)...

BTW, if you are always on the same computer (in Nesrulz's case), just copy some files and it'll be OK.

Here's an idea. How about you do some work at work, eh? Hence the name :)

Because 10 unlocks per week would make it really easy to share a license among friends. There's not much point changing the rules for one person who should be doing something more productive. A USB stick would be the best solution, and it wouldn't even need to be a big one.

Can you not place LFS inside a passworded folder on your work PC, or make a new user account (passworded) just for when you want to "bunk off" and play LFS :) then you could leave LFS unlocked, just in a safe place :)

Does LFS lock if you just blank out the password? If not, I'm pretty sure nobody would be able to use your LFS online (although they would have S2 content offline, I'm sure that's not really your concern).

Copy files f1.xyz, f2.xyz and f3.xyz from directory data\misc to USB key or RAR archive with password. When you want to play LFS, copy them to misc folder. When you are done, delete them.

Yes, I know all, but...
Is not it easier to increase the number of keys!? :)

@ALL

What problem u have with increasing the keys? :really:

i don't know if that actually works... i've got lfs installed to a network drive and when i go from pc to pc, the new pc's are always locked.

those files contain info about hardware, so they will work only on the PC's you had made those files on (by unlocking)

how is that any different than copying the files into the directory then? the only way that would work would be if the machines were identical to start with... :scratchch

First time:
1. you unlock LFS ONCE at work PC
2. you copy all this bs to USB key
3. you play LFS
4. you press clean button
5. ???
-1. no profit for you.

All next times:
1. you copy all bs from USB key to work PC
2. you play LFS
3. you press Clean
4. ???
5. !!!

The keys should return to 2 per month in my opinion (without any usage data). As Victor has that data, I assume he's decided the 2 per week is enough to keep 99.9% of people playing.

Nesrulz You can give up of asking for the answer. No one here will tell you what You need. I myself am very curious of the answer. I require one unlock per year hehe but that was always one of the unanswered questions i have on my list. I don't bother to ask them as i know non one will answer me. I think that if Any Dev would answer Your question it would propably be something like: Because it's enough. Same answer really, as for another patch questions.....when it's done. I can live with that. You should accept that too.

Don't expect to get direct answer. Only more posts like those above mine.

You are retarded, ain't you? It was explained over 9000 times - to prevent account sharing.

kamo2000

Calling me that is retarded itself. Behave. I never saw that explanation(from Victor not others). Now i know but still don't see this as preventing account sharing. Any unlock can be used as account sharing. It's not preventting it's just decreasing the chance of that.

Good to know who i should avoid online.

Click LFS S2, then click password, and delete it. LFS will stay locked - but it won't go online until you type the correct password in (don't lock or unlock).

Problem solved.

Yes. But more unlocks per week = more sharing. And you get only one unlock per week, actually.

When you have unlocked S2 and remove your password, LFS will stay UNlocked. Other than that, you pretty much got it right :)

As others have said, just install on thumb drive and when in your work PC unlock. That is your copy just for that PC.

Now you dont have issues of others using.

For others that question games at work. In the dev office at work we normally play UrbanTerror, Q3 or similar at lunch. (The machines cant handle more otherwise Left4Dead would be game of choice)

I have the same problem with the work PC, for me it is because i work away from home a lot (and end up playing LFS in Hotels) but i run it from a USB drive and it works perfectly - remove the stick and its all gone, with no security problems.

USB drive for the win :D

*EDIT* To add to the point for why limited unlocks are needed (in regard to preventing account sharing) read the follwing two threads...they make for a great reason why limiting them is a very, VERY good idea

If we really want to stop account sharing, put hardware info on the main server.

Removing webpassword is another way. It will be too dangerous to share your gamepass without a webpass protecting it. (This is not a problem for close friends or family members.)
