I just started using LFS and it runs great, looks great and I have no complaints with the sim. But the controls are driving me freaking nuts. It doesn't hold center and its twitchy as hell. I'll be driving and all of a sudden the center shifts full left, then at another point it shifts full right. I lose control because the calibration doesn't hold.

Can someone who uses a simular controller suggest a setting that works.

THANKS

I'm sure that people out there have got a controller to work for them but I think the majority of opion would be to stop using it. I use the mouse for steering and throttle and the K/B for the gear changes.

You can adjust your dead zone in settings you might have it too tight. Open it up until you have some more miles under your belt and your confident about closing it back in again. It's under controller-steer centre ruduction. I use .45, but thats for a mouse and I'm comfortable with it.

There really is no hope for having fun in LFS with a gamepad. I mean, to drive well, a gamepad is just as bad as keyboard control in LFS. The game is just not intended for such a highly responsive little analog joystick. You are better off using mouse, joystick, or a wheel... because those have a much broader range of motion.

I have used an original Xbox controller for 2 years or more, it is good.
Much better than the keyboard or mouse option IMHO but obviously a wheel would be better

Below is some links to previous posts I've made in regards to settings within LFS to get the most out of it:

It does sound to me abit strange how you discribe the controls jittering around so much and loosing centre :schwitz:What drivers do you use and how much abuse has your controller had? It actually sounds like a faulty pot inside your controller or perhaps a below average driver. I used a driver developed by a guy called rudloc and have had no dramas with it.

By the sounds of it "going full lock", would make me think it is still digital with a tiny dead zone.
