Hi,
I've been trying to use scripts to open an insim application when LFS starts up. I'm trying to make the 29999 port open on startup, but it keeps telling me 'insim: not initialised'.
I checked around the forum and removed any ports from the 'create game' screen and it still doesn't work. Do you have any other ideas?
I also get a TCP Bind Failed error.

Go into Multiplayer > Start, and set the IP in there to auto. Now close and restart LFS. Your scripts should work, assuming that was the issue.

Thanks very much, but...
It was already set to auto. :( Here's what my autoexec.lfs script looks like:
/insim 29999
/exec C:\Games\LFSZ\LFSAlert\LFSAlert.exe

In the Autoexec script, type in "/say /insim 29999"
That works for me :thumb:

Thanks for your efforts Jack. I think 29999 is some kind of special port. 32300 works fine. Unfortunately, the insim app I'm using only uses the 29999 port.

I'm stumped. Any insim port I try works once and then fails on the next startup. :(

how long are you waiting between "shutdown" and "startup"? i've noticed that when i restarted my lfs servers i had to wait a good 5 minutes for the ports to magically become open again.

Yeah, again it's an LFS related problem. The script initially worked to open up the 20000 port, but then no longer works. I then tried 20001 and that works fine. I should probably just redownload a new LFS exe.

Ah no! It was an LFSAlert related problem. SilverArrows just explained to me that the program doesn't properly close and therefore affects any future openings of an insim port in LFS.
Thanks for your help, guys, but I think we found the source :)
