Worth every penny, practically everyone will tell you that here :) The value of LFS is great, and you aren't just stuck with one product and just patches to fix things. Patches always come FREE for the version you have, and either for fixes, and/or they add some new features. It is quite nice.
So if you bought S2, you would have access to all the patches released. Even if say... S3 comes out, you will be able to use the patches for S2 still, because each patch is universal for the entire game. The version (Demo, S1, S2) just depends on what version you have that gives you a certain amount of unlocked content. It is hard to understand, but in all, you will have patches for a lifetime in a sense :)
The S2 license in AUD = 56.5968 (just a straight conversion with current rate) As for how they bought, well, you'll have to wait until they reply :)

I can answer only one of your question about the updates. When there is a update you dont have to buy a new license you just keep this one.

for me the FOX is worth the upgrade to S2 by itself. i love the car very tricky to get right but when you do hook it up it feels great.
im seriously thinking of getting a force feedback wheel and relearning the game with that... :thumb:

i started playing demo around xmas time and bought s2 in febuary
worth every penny / cent / whatever just for the option of racing on servers with a reasonable standard of behaviour
you can still go on demo servers if you want and i've actually found that i dont get so upset by idiots on demo servers just because i know i can leave them behind and go on s2 servers.
buy it, loose all your social life, sleep etc :)

hey i just wanna know if the s2 license is really worth it??
I bought LFS a week ago and compared to cinema or renting out a DVD, it's given me way more entertainment for the money spent.
What I would say though is S2 is all about being competetive, and the biggest stride I have made in performance has come from upgrading my computer.
A faster computer meant I could control wheelspin at the start.
Connecting via ethernet instead of wireless meant I got less lag and could avoid accidents in turn 1.
Not getting lag and having a steady 70fps capped framerate shaved 4 seconds off my lap times (BL GP - FOX) instantly.
If I had stayed with my old entry level PC I would probaby have been happy with my purchase, but now that i'm actually able to be competetive it is a lot more fun. I'm still a few seconds off the best guys atm, but i'm fast enough to be in the same race now - and it's a lot more fun.

I just can't believe how long it takes to get competitive at this game. For me, anyway. I'm still gradually improving after nearly a year, but there are still a few circuits that I've barely driven at all, not to mention reverse configs, and cars that I haven't done a single proper lap in.
same here, only car i am competitive in is the UF1000, it is the only one i drive usually which might have something to do with it... if I'm in the mood i can drive the FXR fairly quick aswell... other than that im hopeless at the rest of them...ive also barely done a lap on Westhill, that circuit is a bit dull!:smileypul

Be warned, you'll get free updates for the S2 license - but when S3 comes out it'll be about as useful as an S1 license is now... Which is, er, well, um - imagine owning a Spectrum computer from the 1980's and trying to get a game for it today...
Having said that computer games do represent excellent value for money, time invested versus cost compared to other forms of entertainment is good.
Add to that LFS is cheaper than most games, and yet has a higher replay value because of the online aspect.

also remember its only Alpha right now.. and it will not cost anymore when the finished S2 is released. this also means that it will be a long while yet before we see S3, meaning more time for S2:thumb:

In most cases the initial fascination will be over in few months, often even faster. After that a licensed player spends about 20 minutes in day (on average, some more, some less) playing lfs, assuming half of the time is offline. Of couse the number increases substantially after patches or new versions are released.

I am talking average licensed players, not real junkies. Look at how many people are on-line, and the number of licensed players is between 20,000 and 30,000, probably around 25.000.

I used to spent hours playing lfs, but now i have to work college and a mean girlfriend who doesnt like lfs .
Well we have almost the same amount of people playing online as in the 1st days of s2, but as if we really have 25k linceses (can any1 confirm that?) the amount of online users is very low, less than 1/25th of the users is online at the same time, but them again since we have people all over the world, that sort of gets in the way for everyone to be online at the same time. :scratchch

sorry one more question how many times can you use the s2 licence (if i reformat my pc will i have to buy again or just use the same code as before plus im changing my internet provider next month so will that come into affect aswell or dose it not matter)
sorry im just new to the online gaming world and i just cant get enough of it atm im playing the demo for 3-4 hrs a day if not more but have started to limit my use to 5-6 days of the week
this is because i seem to get too involved with the game and its addictive like cigs once you have had it once you will never turn back
and btw i love this game i got tocca race driver 3 given to me as a present and i think i have played it 3 times since i got it with #2 you couldnt get me off the xbox from the time i woke up to the time i slept so this must be a great game for me to keep playing

Yup, you can unlock as many times as you like BUT!
LFS gives you 3 unlocks. You use one to first unlock the game. After that, if you use any more you recieve one new one per month. So the maximum you can have (other than when you first buy) is two. If you have none you have to wait til the end of the month, so choose when you reinstall with care.
However, in the result that you use up all your unlocks then suffer a system problem (say, a hard drive crash), Victor might give you an extra unlock if he believes your story, and you're really nice etc, but the best bet is never ask him if you can help it.

So that you don't have to risk being turned down, or raise suspision that you might be 'passing on' unlocks to people.
PLAYLIFE
30th March 2006, 19:15
In case you really "you use up all your unlocks then suffer a system problem (say, a hard drive crash)" the best bet is not to "never ask him [Victor] if you can help it"
In that case you are not going to be able to race. I don't see that as the best bet. I mean best bet for what? Best bet for watching TV?
I think that if u really have serious problems and have used up all your unlocks then the best bet (and I am assuming here that the person wants to play LFS) is to ask Victor and like you said "he might give it". He might tell you to wait, but asking is your "best bet" I would say...
NotAnIllusion
30th March 2006, 19:41
Asking is the best bet, if you have a legitimate reason e.g. a league race or another competition. If you want it unlocked so you can have the occasional messing about session on your custom auto-x track it sort of begs the question are you really so desperate to get it unlocked for that instead of waiting a bit, or is it your mate getting anxious not getting the unlock code you promised for him last week?
I think the bottom line is that Victor shouldn't be your immediate solution to unlocks, and certainly if you use up all the unlocks frequently. It just makes you look bad. In my opinion.

There are 3 ways as far as I remember -
1. Renku won his license from LFSNews, that was somekind of random winner
2. echk arranged a Demo cup, where the winner won S2 license (That wasn't actually free one, you had to pay about 1,3 pounds) - That was Estonianonly
3. Your friend/dad bought it to you or bought it to you for christmas or birthday.
Has anyone else arranged things like echk's demo cup?
Like you can see Estonians have got 2 licenses for almost free!

You can try to apply here (http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=78208) kindly. But, first you have to have driven a bit more km online and have some experience and some more requirements, you can see more in that link.
