After we couldn't let this chance for a 1st April Joke pass, we really want to announce the Track for the 16h Race 2009.

You had to wait a long time now. We thought that this time it should be a bit harder, so no one wants to drive alone. Therefore we took AS7R with the GT1, GT2 and NGT Cars. The registration will be open in June, so there will be more information then.

Have fun while training.

I like this track, but I think it's a difficult one to have different classes racing at the same time. Most corners have just one possible line, so overtaking slower cars can mean lossing a lot of time depending on where you come to them, like the corkscrew chicane, the second and third sectors...

probably not. The event's spirit is based on the idea of forming a team and racing together. Slots on the servers have a high value, and we are not willing to get it blocked by one person where four could have had fun.

The Cars driven are GT1, GT2 and NGT like last year.

Only thing that is different is, that GT1 and GT2 will get a better balance :D, but i think in the next few hours there will be more news.

1.5.1. Each team can sign in only 1 car per class. If the team wants to participate in more than 1 class, the chosen car has to be different. (Means if you want FZR in GT-1 you can't choose FZR for GT-2 ) The maximum number of drivers per car is 6, with maximum 4 of them finally driving the car. Any reason for that? It sounds very strange to me that you can't use FZR in both classes... Some people want to use this as a sort of preparation for MoE ;)

I agree with that, but what I don't agree is the restriction between different classes. The best way to get a varied grid is to balance the cars equally, but let everyone chose their car freely. I mean, why would a GT2 team be "penalized" because of the GT1 team's car choice? :/

I think your GT2 settings are really good. As far as GT1, the FZR is about right, but the XRR shouldn't really need weight as the hairpins will hinder it enough.

Actually it does need, to make FXR competitive.
And I'd maybe go with 20kg for GT1 FZR because of horrible tires overheating on this track.

These are MoE restrictions: FZR 20%, FXR 24%, and XRR 25%.

hm just as a small information:

we had a race on this track and a FZR with 98kg weight won and he just had small problems with overheating tyres.

We also found out that FXR and XRR are about the same speed on this track with 23% restrictions. If you don't believe this, try some laps and find out, that the FXR can do 52's in Qualifying like the XRR. Only the FZR can do about 51's, so he is too fast and needs handicap and if noone will drive, i will put the weight in, that i find best, even if it might be too much.

P.S. the MoE restriction not interesting for me. In our League, we had some good FXR drivers (handicap of 23%) and another good driver beat them in the FZR with 20% restriction, without the slightest problem. Even the second race with 55kg of additional handicap was won by him. Hm maybe the FZR is overpowered in the MoE, but hey maybe thats what they want...

I wasn't talking about the FZR pace but the XRR and FXR pace. As a general rule i say the fastest lap on r3 with low fuel would be about 1 second off the WR, give or take 2/3 tenths. The XRR record is 46.9 so at least a mid 48 for the XRR is imo reasonable, same with the FXR, it's a 47.4 so again mid 48s, very reasonable imo.

Also count in the fact the FXR and XRR will save about 3/4 seconds each pit stop due to fuel which will multiply over a 16 hr race to over a minute

Judging from IGTC at AS7 standard, I'd say ballasts need to be at least 50kg for the FZR. The gap unballasted is something like 1.5 seconds, you don't make that up with 20kg. In fact you only make up about 1/3 of that with 20kg. The XRR should be a fraction slower over a single lap under optimal conditions because of its lighter fuel load and shorter pits, but you're talking just a couple tenths.

The IGTC ballasts are pretty good over the season, but they disadvantage the XRR far too heavily at a couple tracks. This track is definitely one of those.

i've never being in a 16 hour race but i've heard that when you sign up its not first come first server you sign up and then you get picked into the race depending on some sutff but i don't know if its true. How many drivers i think its 6 or 4

I didn't quiet understand your message but it doesn't matter if you register first or last, what matters is your quali time, if you're slow you'll race on server 3 and if you're an alien you'll race on server 1 (For example).

Bah cmon you can do it! I'm sure theres plenty of ppl who could help admin. Heck you can even partner with admins of other organizations to help (cough NDR cough) :P I think a 4th server is a must heh. GT2 clearly needs more spots but I think you should put 15 spots in GT1 and 15 in GT2 and if one doesnt fill, give the spots to GT2 cuz it doesnt seem like GT2 will ever stop filling up :D

Dont worry, usually as time goes people decide to pull out. Last year we got our GT1 spot on the last week or so :thumb:

in the lfs community i often find the question of price isn't a problem. Especially for a large event like the 16hr, but as was said before, admins. I'd put myself forward as i probably wont be driving for my team but will hang around anyway.

UFR is more unstable on turns and jumps (you know that in as north we have an "blind S" like Eau Rouge (http://blog.mid-day.com/image.php?id=23390018)?), the rat also burns more fuel and tyres (in endurance race i think this is a relevant item) and have less final speed than the XFR.

car does not have oppertunity to reach top speed more than once, the track is all corners. and ufr is more pwnage in corners.

only str8 where 1st split is where you reach top speed. rest of it is ufr bye bye.

i find your usernames in the database, but your team is missing, like there is an error in your registration.

the only thing i see what might cause the error is that your teamname contains a '.

no other team has got that ' in its name.

i can say now, that a fourth server will be opened next weekend. Saturday August 1st at 13 o'clock UTC. A small rulechange at this point. In the NGT it is/will be allowed to have more than one car per team. (for now. in September there might be another change of this.)

I have just made a map of the track for our team, and I decided to share it with all of you. It's much easier to learn the track, and share your thoughts with one of these in hand.

I've exported it to A4 and Letter format, for easier printing on both continent.
