Hi,
I drive a lot in the external view, sometimes called chase camera, but there doesnt seem to be a way to have a rearview mirror in this view mode, which is dangerous to say the least.
The virtual rv mirror only works in in-car view modes

There also isn't possible to look back in chase view. I'd like to see it added, would be really trivial to code it I guess.
And before you say "this is a sim, drive in-car view", I mostly miss this function when watching replays.
Though this thread is in wrong forum.

- I'm a around 50cm of the screen. The best idea would be to have a 360º monitor, so if I want to look at a side, I would turn my head (or even see a coloured object at 45º, without looking directly).
- But I have a 15 inches monitor, and I'll still use this size for three or five years. The "angle view" compared to the monitor is around 15º to each side(no, I won't do any math).
- When I use e.g. the look left button, the camera moves too fast and I can't see anything (even if I just touch it for a tenth).
- That's why I don't use 45º FOV, because I don't see anything to the sides.
But even my 80º is still not enough, and more would make the objects as strange as with 45º, so I tried to see more to the sides within the normal view.
- So I put the camera back, and I can see 40º to each side from behind the car, or more than 60º if you consider as the origin the driver's head.
- Now if a car is exactly next to me, I can see it. And if I'm turning in the outside of a corner and someone tried to overtake me in the inside, I see it.
- Still, the camera can't be moved with the "look" buttons, and there is no mirror, so the advantage of using the chase camera disappears. With two speakers the only way to know what happens around you is to hear the engine sound. If it rises, a car is near you. But you don't know if it changes its line, like you would with a mirror.
The sfoftware nad hardware have limitations. It's impossible to use the inner camera without on-screen text because nobody tells you by radio your lap times, position... The same happens with the views. A simulator needs some not-real features, and still keep realistic.
