Well, we're on the case with some things we've mentioned and some that we haven't.
Hopefully we can give you a nice surprise in not too long a time. But we've got to see how some planned things work out first.
How's that for cryptic? :D

By the way, when I said "not too long a time"... I'd better point out that we are unlikely to be able to make any announcements or progress reports for at least a month, and maybe two.
If anyone wants to see more information about some things we've already discussed, Mogar has gathered some info on this thread :

They know how to tease us don't they :p
One week there can millions of posts about progress reports and nothing, the next little old Chris can make a teeny little post and get 2 responces from Scawen.
Now, then, one month is the 28th of March. That'll coincide with NetKars releases, so Netkar won't get played by me for a few weeks. 28th April will allow me to play Netkar for a bit and do a fair review of the two prior to LFS updates, but then LFS will be all shiny and new and I'll fail my exams.
I hate problems like this.
Good to hear you're still alive, and the house obviously hasn't collapsed, you haven't died of overwork, and Geraldine hasn't beat you to death with a frying pan. Work hard, but stay sane.

Not wanting to get drawn into something majorly off-topic and political, but yeah, I'm amazed that our metro police commissioner hasn't been charged with anything yet - not only did he "disappear" a bunch of evidence, he's even been trying to obstruct the independent police complaints commission from investigating it properly.
Maybe it's the same thing as it was with the WTC strike and the "official investigation". All evidence was sent to China to be properly destroyed. Or maybe the victim is still alive as some of the WTC bomber pilots.
(I'm not joking about these horrible incidents, everytime when somebody gets killed it's not a joke)

Okay! So far so good we have some kind of a date, between April first and May first, which is not too bad as a target... I mean one month... in earth time that's a drop!
Still... It's very good to know what Scawen is doing and I think everybody agrees that it can only be good news. Besides, it will create, I hope, a better "forumistic" attitude. On the other hand, it could be even better (and I mean not good, but unbelievable) to know what are Eric and Victor doing...
Noooooo please don't throw me rock! ouch! I'm sorry, I think I hit a tabu topic. No... seriously... Yes it was asked tons of times and yes it's pissing off the fan-boys, but come on... they could've been hiding in a world war II bunker with nothing to eat but dry bread for the past months and it wouldn't have been different! Please, tell us something about them, and something else than "they are working"... we need to know what they're up too!

I like info. Good to know things aren't at a standstill, but I certainly miss the days of regular little fixes. Particularly when there are so many little (non-physics) things, like the pitstop systems, that would make a big difference if they were fixed/finished. LFS is frustrating in its current form. Physics flaws aside, it's close to being really great, but little things annoy so frequently.

I believe Eric isn't working 24/7. :schwitz:You guys can think what you want, but as for me, I won't believe that Eric is working on anything before I have proof. He could have done marvelous things, yes, but so far we don't see anything, so there was nothing really done. The devs don't have anything to hid in the "situation" they are in. It would be a complete marketing stupidity to hid something to the community as the community wants something to see.
We can't see physics, still we know that Scawen is working on it. We can see GFX, but there's nothing new in the near future. (true until they say something) :shy:

If I was Eric, i'd work step by step. Like... "This week, I do Bolts for all the wheels and I put screenshots of that on the forum so people can see my work and comment it. Next week, I'll work on the interior or something"... etc..

No, what WOULD be stupidity is displaying the inner workings of their little circle to the community. I can understand why from their perspective. That does not mean I ENJOY it, but I know why they do it.

Last time, before S2 alpha release, all the surprises were revealed in advance. I hope it won't happen again. I lost interest for the game quite quickly after the the alpha release. Now I don't think much of LFS, and just live my life. So please don't raise all this hype again, because the thing is, there is a big chance Scawen (for some reason) won't provide us with that nice surpise in one or two months. Son (you sound very immature, so I'm gonna assume you are around 10 and refer to you as son - I hope you don't mind), you haven't been around long enough to realise that that method hasn't worked either as people all want different things and as soon as a progress report comes along saying we've been working on this people like you say "but I wanted this and you took way too long to do that and this is more important to me and I don't care about that" and so on and so forth. You had your chance at frequent progress reports and you blew it... If you weren't around here for it, tough shit. Now, after years of perfecting the method of communication with a community filled with mature people and the odd idiot such as yourself, the devs realise that it will be easier to keep everyone happy by not releasing much information and surprising everyone with big updates. When the situation gets out of hand, the devs step in explain their case which is the reason for their posts above. Recently they have grown tired of having to repeat themselves over and over again and someone who did share your views at one point realised that what the devs are doing made sense and posted the collection of Scawen's posts. Now, instead of repeating himself Scawen posted a link to that thread. And what difference does it make if you get frequent progress reports about what the devs are doing? Its not like you will get your hands on it before the whole thing is done. They also tried frequent patches - that didn't work too well either because people complain about downloading 1mb a month. People are hard to please. This has been the best policy so far in terms of keeping posts like yours to a minimum and that is why the devs will stick to it. Grow up or go home.

Excellent post axus. I hope other people will read it and think twice before posting drivel.
Chance would be a fine thing!!

Indeed a very good post :)
But the community's impatience isnt the only reason for not making many small patches as we saw them in the pre-S1 demo days. The second reason is their stupidity: If there are many different incompatible patches around, people will wonder why nobody is online anymore. They will be all using different versions of the game.
To avoid this, the devs decided to keep the updates to a minimum.
Im sure that the high nose bug would be fixed if there were less people crying for new updates...

I understand people who disagree with incompatible patches, but in S1 days, I enjoyed those weekly patches :) It was nice and exciting.
I'm not crying for new updates, I'm only telling that it was nice in S1 days. :)

Yes it was nice, but the commnuity has changed, and Scawen cant split it into pieces and only allow a certain group of racers to test the new patches (except for the beta testers of course).

Well the fact that you put all your comments in bold just shows you are trying to make a point.... a point with some very outlandish and absurd remarks. Whether or not it be your opinion, you pretty much put yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time to mention some of these wild claims and assumptions:
And unhappyly they still not respect this community.
First reason for getting that reply from Axus. This is clearly why, and you have it all wrong. The LFS devs probably are THE most respected developers, and they respect their customers.

And those 1 link, 2 link comments above, you are really trying to set yourself above Scawen's factual statements and think otherwise. Completely ignorant if you ask me.... especially if you say WE got your comments wrong, oh the contradiction
I am not saving the developers, I am only showing you that we DO understand exactly what you said, because there is no other possible way to read your opinion, and this is how we interpret it. Possibly there is a language barrier that is conflicting here. Even though you try to do some 'recap' post, this certaintly did not help.

*sigh* I'm getting some serious deja vu here.
And as usual, I'm going to agree with the more sane and sober posts in this thread. The more people complain and bitch and make assumptions about what the devs are doing with their time, the less the devs are going to want to post progress reports - especially if people write, in big bold red letters, that the developers don't respect their community. Language barrier be damned, that is insulting and ridiculous. I believe the devs see the community as an invaluable guage of what LFS fans would like to see (once they sift through the OT kitchen-related bollocks :)), and what they don't want to see. One thing I'm sure of: most LFS fans don't want to see another thread complaining about the devs not communicating. It's getting boring.
It's been explained ad nauseam why the devs don't give progress reports every week and ffs I wish people would relax and be patient. There are other things to do while LFS is being worked on. There are other games in the world. There are other things in life! Go do them!

gah ! read the other threads ... 8 month during which scawens significant other was pregnant
you might claim that s2 was rushed out to keep the community satisfied throughout scawens sabbatical but then again would you have wanted to wait a single day longer for the s2 release ?

Wild assumption - The devs don't respect the community. You say it as if it was a fact. We have just explained to you through and through why you will not get what you want - because it is bad for the rest of the community.
I mean just to guive my opinion and its that i think :
devs should guive replys to the feedback .
im ok whith many patches,
You, you, you. We heard your opinion. We heard 100 others like you in the past few months. Why should the devs wast their time on replying to every single little post? That takes time you know - there are 30000 of us and 3 of them. Do you know any other community where the devs ever communicate with their customers at all? Maybe NetKar to some extent - apart from that this is pretty much the best you will get. You are OK with many patches - but a lot of people are not. Hotlaps would be deleted whenever an incompattible patch is out and the community will be split. Of course, you only think about how that will affect you though. And by the way, I've seen about 5 or 6 other posts with a simmilar message written by you - "I want" and "the devs owe me something". Enough already! You will not get many more progress reports - there will be reports when there is something worth saying. Sit back and enjoy the ride - the nature of development is why LFS has sustained interest in some people for over 3 years and if you don't like it, that's too bad.
