A few times while racing, I have lost power to the drive-train. The engine rev,s but the car will no longer move? What causes this?

the cluch overheats if you do not release the accel pedal when you shift gears

Your clutch is overheated. Check it with F9 or F10. Lift the throttle while changing gear.

You overheated your clutch. Autoclutch isn't very good at slipping the clutch, so it's quite easy to overheat it if you don't drive taking that into account.

Ahh, I see, so when I have overheated the clutch how long will I have to wait in order to return to the race? Or, am I done and out of it?

It does cool down, but very slowly. By the time it's cooled enough to function again you'll be out of the race anyway.

O.k. thanks guys, I was keeping my foot in it during the shifts.. I'd get a little out of shape in a corner, then bang through the gears trying to gain back lost time. Guess I wont gain anything if I burn out the clutch.

You can check the clutch temp in the F9 menu as well, its the bar labelled CT down at the bottom. If it gets to the red, then you're doing something wrong.

I'd say that if it gets to 1/4 full then you're doing something wrong. If it gets to the red you've far surpassed 'doing it wrong.'
