Hello, drivers!

We will be holding a two-hour event on Saturday, the 31st of January for all teams not already admitted into the 2009 season grid. This event will help the admins gauge teams' readiness to join the series. Finishing well in the event will not guarantee a spot in the series, nor will finishing poorly eliminate a team's chances. We just want to see you on the track.

The race will be held at Blackwood GP, with no wind and clear day settings.

We will begin with a 30 minute "hardcore" qualifying session, as described in the series rules. The race will be run with all league rules in effect, so please have all your teammates study them before attending the event. Remember, punctuality and reliability are also things we're looking for, so please be on time.

If your team is on the list below, you are asked to attend this event:

01 Brazilian Racers Team OK
02 Estonian Endurance Racers OK
03 Capo ARG OK

OK = stated intent to attend
NO = stated unable to attend

In this event (and ONLY this event) please use the number assigned to your team above. Your name should be set according to the series rules, using that number.

Team skins using the IGTC template are NOT required, but are desirable to aid the admins in distinguishing you.

Thanks, and see you on the track on the 31st!

BTW, number of drivers needed? 2? Or is there not really a rule on that?

See you then.

BTW will we also be guinea pigs for any balancing if its needed?

Gil07

If you read the rules, you'd know no driver can drive more than 75% of the race distance, so you need at least 2 drivers ;)

Yeah, I was thinking of more than 2 drivers :D

Yes hehe :tilt:

We kinda have a mix of experienced and n00b drivers, so I might just end up putting a non-n00b in for stint one and a n00b for stint 2.

Hmm, decisions.... :)

DeadWolfBones
15th January 2009, 18:30
Tbh, as we said we're not putting a huge premium on finishing well in this race. It's more about how you handle yourselves on-track and how competent you appear in general. Using more than the minimum required number of drivers would be an excellent idea if you have many inexperienced drivers on your roster. We'd encourage it, in fact.

I'm assuming teams are required to use at least two drivers during this race. I can't see this mentioned anyway, or is it supposed to be covered by the usual 75% rule?

DeadWolfBones
16th January 2009, 14:31

Yep. All normal IGTC rules apply.

Dragonmen

If I may put some friendly suggestions to unproven teams (of course I'm not speaking about well known teams in the list):

1. Read the rules, don't be afraid to ask if you do not understand something.
2. Behave on track as it should be done. Respect others but do not be afraid in duels, unexpected maneuvers can be as dangerous as not taking enough attention to other racers on track.
3. Put on solid laps, constant driving is what counts in endurance race. Try not to make mistakes trying to be faster than you can.
4. Starting procedure is very important, I assume you'll be on special watch there. Practice it!
5. I guess there are teams that are not experienced with takeover procedure and pitting. Also practice that one!

Ben, I have a suggestion...

Whilst there's every chance the safety car might come out just through normal racing incidents, perhaps you could consider reserving the right to throw a "competition yellow" to make sure all the teams are tested for that procedure. Safety cars and restarts are often the most contentious issues in races like these.

No, car selection will be seperate from that event. We will be testing ballast during the test race also. When we have come to a decision on the ballast then the car selection process can begin properly.
