Hello all, im a click away from purchasing a s2 account. I am a racing nut with extreme knowledge of real life tuning and found that my home brewed suspension calculator works in decent sim demos This game gave me the most detailed realistic response for any change. So I ask this how is this community.. both for grip and drift. Update support decent? car tunability options for s2? I dont know any heads up info would be great!
Thanks!

Well, look at the time, its night in Europe, and most of the lfs community lives in Europe. Have some patience...

well there is no "tuning" option in lfs s2, because it isnt Need for speed. :smileypul
but there is something called lfs tweak, you can tune your car with that but you cannot go online with it. :)
and the updates at this rate are once every 6 months

But if by tuning you mean adapting the car to the track, then you will find LFS has indeed tuning opportunities.
Some here do consider that the possible adjustments for each variable are too accurate and cover a range too wide (compared with one can do to a car in RL), and also that the adjustment possibilities for road cars should be limited.
For example it is possible to set up a FWD car can to produce oversteer in specific conditions.
There have not been too many highly interesting technical threads in the setup section lately, but if you search through it you may stumble across very good debates regarding car "tuning", as in adjusting the variables to get the best compromise for the track and your driving.
I also recommend the addon by Bob Smith, VHPA, if you want to go further into LFS setups and get a comparison with your calculator.

Looking forward to your discussions with LFS setup gurus :)

Shut up.
@x_Slideways_x: LFS allows for ridiculously fine tuning of the suspension components, so it should indeed be the right thing for you :). However, be aware that in the future these tuning options may be restricted to more realistic values than now, so at least on some cars it might not stay as much tuner's heaven as it is now.

Way to make an idiot of yourself. Go look up the word "tuning" in a dictionary. And read the thread before making a retarded reply.
@OP: the community is great, but you will have undoubtedly noticed that some people aren't as friendly as others. I guess that's the case with any big community. As for "grip vs drift"... you don't want to open that can of worms ;)
What do you mean by "update support"?

yea i noticed the lack of common sense already the drift vs grip dosent bother me my passion is pushing a car to its limits weither it be sideways or pushing g's so that your cheeks pull from your teeth lol i love both. by update support i mean the attention this game recieves for patches , updates & exspansion.

Ah, that's what I thought. That's a bit of a fickle point around here. There's been endless discussions about updates and/or the lack thereof. It all depends on what you expect, I think. Before you buy an S2 license you should realise that LFS is a work in progress. Hell, it's not even Beta yet! So it's in no way a finished product; it has its flaws, there are several known bugs, some of which have existed for quite some time. There's only 3 people working on LFS, and only 1 who does all the coding. So don't expect a patch every month, or even every 6 months. Patches are released when they're ready, and no sooner than that. The developers work at their own pace and have made it clear on several occasions that they will work on what they deem necessary, not on what we - the community - feel should come first. Let alone some individuals. They also very seldom let us in on what exactly they're working on, so don't expect regular news on that either. I suggest enjoying the sim for what it is, instead of dreaming of what it might someday be.

Let me fix you m8 :scratchch
What "tuning" actually means? It doesnt only mean 'Bodywork' tuning and 'Glass tinting'. At LFS ... We actually CAN say that LFS is a big bunch of tuning. Because "tuning" itself means changing the rations and things (like u tune an analog radio). All the suspension stiffness changing and all this IS tuning. No offence :)
Edit: Same u can say that when u make ur bike's chain shorter ... its tuning. Any values changing thing is kinda like tuning.
Edit: Because "tune" / "tuning" means it. Think some more about that word or look it up on dictionary.
Soz for english tho, its just a explanation :)
Some more edit: If you guys dont get me then ... ur failed ... think about that word "tune". :D

NOOOO. Exactly THIS view will make you unhappy.
Look at it as finished. Pay your bucks for what you get NOW (which is exactly like the demo with more cars and more tracks and space on the server for your skins). No one knows what it's gonna be like when / if it's ever finalized.
As for the tuning: get the demo (don't you already have it?). There's only tiny bits in the tuning field exclusive to S1/S2... like 4WD tweaking or traction control. That's probably it.
Edit:
If you guys dont get me then ... ur failed ... think about that word "tune".
Not nearly mastering a foreign language nor being a native speaker and still using "cool" abbreviations like "m8" and "u" (even more so "ur") is a BIG FAIL. Not only because it looks "wannabe", but also because weaker foreign speakers will have a hard time understanding your lettered outpourings.
So if us guys don't get you, it's probably you who failed.

However, LFS is an unfinished product and it does have bugs. There's no denying that, and I think it's important people realize that before they put their money down.

And that is still way better than a finished product with bugs ;)

When I bought S2, I thought of it as, a finished game, with ongoing updates..
Like, you play most games, and they are finished, and thats all.. No updates, etc..
In a way I suppose it's like Runescape - You pay for whats there, and get the benefit of having updates every so often..
It's a great game, and it was when I started playing, any additions to it will only make it better.. :D
