skinnable pit areas

im not sure if this has been covered before but while i was skinning my car and testing it, i thought that it would be nice if you could skin the top sponsor board of the pit, so you know which pit is yours and you can pull in there and stop there and know youll be starting from there again. you could match it to your suit and helmet colours or car colours etc.

oh well its just an idea, flame away.

Stupid question, but do you actually get allocated a pit garage? I have always assumed I was just being started in a random empty one and that it wouldn't necessarily be the same one if I teleported back to the pits.

i think any of those boxes can be used as a pit to stop in, and im guessing its random what pit it sends you out of?

im sure its just trivial but it would be nice to have a pit thats yours? would it cause problems like blocking the pit or something?

even if its setup it so whatever pit you started at it put your skin on the front just so you can stop there if you wish to? but its not any different to what it is now? i dont know

I love the idea!

I remember my GP2 times, when some fictional tracks had the team names on the pitbox. Of course if you changed the carset it wouldn't match anymore, but it was a little more realistic (the magic word :-).

You get a pitbox allocated to you depending on your server client number.
That one will always be the same untill you reconnect. But apart from where you drive out when you did a Shift S pit, it has no use.
The real pit areas, marked as yellow squares are anonymous and can be used by anyone.

So what I'm saying is, there's no use for skinning your pitbox because you dont use it.

would you guys mind using a specific pit box? has that ever been mentioned before, does it add a little extra "thing" for you to do while racing or just make it a pain and more confusion as to what goes on, or are certain pit boxes considered better than others?

In fact, I'd love to have a pit allocated to me and just that pit works for me... As it is now, most of the people don't use the first pit, as they wouldn't be going at 80 km/h when they can turn the limiter off...

I don't think this is a bad idea actually. Having our own pits is
realistic and it could add a bit of a challenge to try and find it
when racing and coming in for a quick tire change hehe.
Having our own image to help locate it would be very usefull then.

yes and if it displayed our name like naburu said would be a nice touch, instead of numbered pits, but then you'd want a pit crew signaling you in, maybe some pit babes also :D

Id love to see a "brakes on board" instead of the bland text message on screen. in fact as a driver it would be nice to have to go thru the pit proceedure. Brakes on during tire changes, clutch and revs during fueling, go.

im not really sure any of teh cars have teh steering range for agressive pit stops like f-1 though

I like the idea of personalised pit garage signs :thumb: even if alocated pit boxes don't work, I think we'd really need some form of animated pit men to find our correct slot (add to the S3 wish list :D)
