WARNING : THIS IS A TEST
NOTE : THE VW SCIROCCO IS NOT INCLUDED
Hello Racers, here is a new Test Patch : Z6.
It is fully online compatible with version Z.
You can view hotlap replays made in version Z.
ABS brakes have been added to 5 cars (as a setup option) so for now you cannot upload hotlaps made in Z6.
The crash in D3D8.dll was related to shadows.
The main fix was a line of code to make sure the crash cannot happen.
Shadows are also no longer rendered if they are not going to be visible.
Please keep a backup of your LFS.exe from version Z so you can go back to Z if there are any problems
Changes in TEST PATCH Z6 :
ABS brakes removed from XF GTI
FIX : Crash in D3D8.dll (related to shadows)
KNOWN ISSUES :
LX4 number plate goes through spare tyre
Flickering wheel colour when changing rims colour
Shadows have a flickering outline on some graphics cards
CAN'T REPRODUCE :
Mouse steering only full lock after SHIFT+F4
Changes in TEST PATCH Z5 :
New language included : Espaņol Latino (still need to add a flag)
FIX : Crash on closing LFS from multiplayer while tyres displayed
FIX : Shadow stretching bug on some graphics cards
Changes in TEST PATCH Z4 :
FIX : Polygon errors seen on some graphics cards
FIX : It was impossible to join an online race with a demo car
Changes in TEST PATCH Z3 :
Updated wheels on Formula BMW
Implemented ABS brakes in XFG / XRG / RB4 / FXO / XRT / FZ5
Improved wheel drawing system including rotating brake discs
Improved shadows - sharper and ambient shadow effect now included
InSim : New packets to start / search replays and take screenshots
FIX : Player name was wrong in entry screen on entry or after replay
FIX : Added checks to prevent guests joining with no user name or ID
FIX : OOS starting race after joining autocross host in entry screen

The reason I ask is that the physics should not have changed at all (apart from allowing ABS).

Physics problems I guess?
or something weird...
Anyway...I have got a super computer, which is very powerfull and my fps is about 300 - 400
I have not got any problems BUT ONE!!!
I found this:
When playing LFS at first time (means you start lfs.exe and go driving), the controller doesnīt work perfectly, at start have to calibrate axes to spin them as much as possible, then it works normally...
I have Windows Vista Sp1, Premium
Controller: Logitech Rumblepad 2 (2007 year)
Bug: At start have to calibrate your axes. Buttons work perfectly...
I hope this helps you a bit

When playing LFS at first time (means you start lfs.exe and go driving), the controller doesnīt work perfectly, at start have to calibrate axes to spin them as much as possible, then it works normally...I think you need to click "lock" in the controls screen, after you have spun all the axes. That lock is preserved next time you load LFS.
The "lock" button is in the axes section below "recalibrate axes".

I can confirm this on patch Z (just Z no test patches).
The first screenshot shows no texture (or the tarmac doesnt have the properties of tarmac at that point). The second showing the part of the road which is falldown-able.

Hey Scawen, since you're fixing shadow bugs, how about fixing this one too?
Shadow disappears when you go on that raised grass at autocross, it even disappears when you're only partially on the grass.

Hmmm not sure what happened but the issue sometimes sorts itself out by tapping into different views.

Yes, when you are changing colour od car body of rims, it's a little bit lagging (wokrs with all cars) but I don't really care. The colour changes :)

Hi Scawen,
Not sure if this requires immediate attention, but since new brake disc textures were introduced, you may want to take a look. I'm running the smokemod from keygetys. The XRG was in reverse, so the dust/gravel was flying from the rears to the front of the car, and as this dust passes through the front wheels, the disc becomes a square. The car was moving.
This doesn't show up during normal driving. The view is TV.
Same thing happens for XFG when moving forward and dust flies to the rears.
Thanks!

Probably it's because it's an alpha channel texture which the dust can't go through.

I have been trying to work out why the OOS - SET bug occurs and kicks every single player in the server that is running the >Z4 test patch.
We seem to have narrowed it down to whenever someone a certain user (buickid) in the replay, comes out onto the track. We seemed to work it out that it was the guys setup that was causing the issue. After a bit of testing.
I have attached a replay of when it happened. we did try it numerous times, and worked out that it was the setup that was causing the issue. it does not kick non Z4/5/6 users when doing it.

Hey Scawen, since you're fixing shadow bugs, how about fixing this one too?
Shadow disappears when you go on that raised grass at autocross, it even disappears when you're only partially on the grass.
i found this:
The D3D8 crash is now fixed in Z6.
Shadow rendering is avoided when the shadow would be invisible (e.g. round a corner or over a hill).

I Don't know if it's really a bug.
Maybe it's a known "old" problem which was already posted. I just drove some laps on BW in the TV view (Z6). Well i can't describe it that good. Looks like the racing line texture isn't exactly on the ground. Therefore it appears on the tires. Watch the screenshots. On the second picture only the reartire is on the racingline (green line).

Why was ABS brakes removed from XFG? Was it too hard to fix it, or devs just changed mind, that XFG shouldn't have it?

that has been reported in the past but I think it's either that or having the optimal line under the ground :)

Scawen,
On the ABS discussion;
I think cars in same class should have the same ABS option (ie. XFG XRG) - also the XFG is likely to be the first car people drive (before they buy their G25 etc :)) so they need easy braking that doesn't put them off.
Getting to the point, I think the only answer is to have two types of ABS:-
Type 1 - Simple ABS (low frequency, few channels, etc) - XFG / XRG (maybe TBO class). This should lengthen stopping distances but allow easy control. When people develop their driving and realise that it's quicker to turn it off and learn to brake, they will develop skills which will help them with the faster cars.
Type 2 - Advanced ABS - FZ5 / VWS. Sophisticated system for these higher end/newer cars.
Obviously you would have to change the threshhold braking lesson in some way (force the ABS off of change the car).
(Sorry for the rant - I am a regular reader but it's the first time I've felt compelled to comment. Also I know I am suggesting more coding but it seems you have a littlle more time now :)).
