I like to ask how much rule 2 is enforced.

Abuse: Drivers must refrain from abuse or harassment for the purposes of insulting, bullying or belittling another driver or group of drivers. Examples of abuse and harassment include,but are not limited to: derogatory references to age; sexual orientation; race; religion; nationality; driving skills and abilities. Deliberately causing annoyance or nuisance in the server or to individuals is forbidden. CTRA admins' word is final.Everyday I see words being exchanged about a race and something that always pops up are things like

Shut up please childGo cry to your motherIs this way of speaking on CTRA servers against the rules or am I just being too sensitive?

I think possibly you are being a little over-sensitive. While we have rules regarding abusive language, and we do enforce them, we are ever-mindful that racing in LFS - despite the fact that it's virtual, not real - can be quite stressful. Adrenaline flows and tempers fray. We're complicit in creating that environment in the server, with regimented race restarts and a competitive and extended goal-based environment.

What we would act against is vile or profain abuse, or patterns of malicious behaviour over extended periods, eg: premeditated harassment or bullying. We're less likely to directly act against off-the-cuff biting back or throw-away comments that are clearly attempts at saving face. Typically they're tantamount to acknowledgement, by the person responsible, that they screwed up and don't have it in them to admit it and take the blame for whatever the argument is about (usually a failed and foolhardy attempt to overtake etc).

If you're considering filing a report, give thought to whether or not the above is the case. If it's habitual use of foul language or bullying, excessively aggressive demeanour etc, feel free to file and we'll warn the individual responsible about their behaviour if we agree. If it's a one-off bite-back then perhaps just nod and say to yourself "yeah, you're right, you did screw up" and otherwise let it slide.

I have been guilty myself of having the adrenaline flowing but I always keep the insults inside my four walls (I sometimes shout them at the screen but I don't type them in).

I will try not to be so sensitive in the future and remember that some people don't have the ability to just admit their errors as they see it as a sign of weakness when in fact recognising your mistakes and learning from them is a great strength. :thumb:
