Uh-oh, a linux newbie here... :)

I'm trying to launch an external player here with this tutorial http://octoshape.com/plugin/linux.asp

It tells me to go here (http://octoshape.com/play/play.asp?os=linux) to get the XYZ.xyz for my ./OctoshapeClient -url:XYZ.xyz but I can't find your stream on that list. Could you tell me what I should be putting in there?

... I'm not going to bother gettin any octoshape crap (since so many people have announced it to be completely rubbish, other reasons may vary). It's not like you're going to get more viewers than a regular stream server could handle

Fuse5
10th November 2008, 16:29
then why to post here at all, Timo?
If you aren't bothered to watch.
If you have a grudge against octoshape, then just don't.

hyntty
10th November 2008, 16:35
you're just crumpy because I said (in the other thread) that it was your fault

And secondly, I'm just giving feedback. Ever heard of Usability Heuristics?

Fuse5
10th November 2008, 16:37
firstly, no. I read that topic right after i had posted here.
And I'm not bothered about it.

secondly, no. And this is really the wrong place to give feedback about octoshape. and that wasn't even constructive feedback :P

DeadWolfBones
10th November 2008, 16:39
No problems with octoshape here. good race so far.

ot: as long as I get a non-lagging stream, I don't care if it's penta- hexa- or octoshape which does the job... :)

Octoshape seems to work nicely, all those Counter-Strike streams run flawlessly. Wish I just got that bloody channel name for the ESL stream...

That corner exit following the chicane is always difficult. Zock's spin exiting T1 was just a bit of brainfade though.

Lol, Marco killed the excitement for us on IRC. He told that he made the fastest lap on lap 23. pfft.

That's, after i had realized that he wasn't racing, cause he was chatting.
And he forgot his keyboard to Cologne
And the cup/vase looks silly :)

Did Tobias just give up there at the end?
He had to safe fuel at the end. Otherwhise he wouldnt have finished.

Yep, it was an record ;) But we wanted to keep all details secret, to have the tension up for the spectators.

I hope you enjoyed the show, even that it just was an record.

Fuse5

TV tool? we used LFS TV Director (Server + GUI on two different PCs). Thanks to Soeren for that tool btw, worked great!

AndRand
14th November 2008, 22:49
No restrictions ;)
no XRRs

what I was was missing, as always in LFS race coverage, is info on damage and tyre temps (I dont use LFS TVD and dont if it can operate not in shift+f mode) after some accidents or slide, and race standings always visible with name of the driver with focus on.

I dont understand much of German so I dont know what was the reason of Tobias slow run at the end nor his laptimes.

great coverage though, good to have esports login to have more of this :thumb:

...another thing about the coverage, which I liked a lot, was that instead of telling people which driver had what different coloured (tiny) mirrors to identify them, it would have been a lot easier to press 'n' every now and then.

traditional race coverages have it done by race standings on side and name of the driver focused on (nice switching from driver to driver by LFS TVD :thumb:) - I dont think much more is needed, I thought TVD is flexible in listings display options.

What would be great, is slowmo replays - as I know, LFS TVD judges distances to spot the action so all the incidents would be recorded. Hard to spot on accidents when alone but esports can use traditional slowmo replays. (I think there is possibility to connect TVD GUI to several instances to provide several streams). BTW, it looked like the bigger .mpr the lower smoothness :smileypul
