Stupidest Excuse for Crashing

Hey guys
i got appointed admin not long ago and its quite a hard job
harder than it looks
anywayz whats the dumbest excuse a crasher has used while you were admin or you have witnessed

today this guy (wont mention name) kept crashing in the sever and his excuse was his mouse kept jamming but somehow he managed to turn right into the race leader:really: banned him for 3 days and told him not to come back until he buys a new mouse:thumb:

That can happen a lot especially when using the padal shifts on the back of the wheel.

I have what sounds a little stupid was the one which I used last night on a cruise server "Sorry my dog jumped up on my arm" which he did, obviously not all 4 legs but just his two front ones which caused me to go off to the right because I wasn't expecting it.

Mind you, sometimes it isn't the drivers fault. I remember watching the old STCC server and seeing this guy turn hard into somebody else right off the start line, crashing right from the off.

I couldn't believe what I was witnessing, I banned him straight away.

It turns out he'd just got a G25 and unwittingly didn't have it centred... A bad call on my part.

Adminning a server really isn't easy. One the one hand you've got every driver believing they are a the greatest thing to ever happen to virtual tarmac, and on the other, you've got complaints that your server is 'worse than the others for all the crashers'. When really, what you actually have, is a server that's full of people with half trying to be racing drivers and half 'chilling out on a game for half hour'.

What happened to me for a quite some time was that Antivir started to update in midrace and minimized LFS, and even if I could switch back fast enough it would minimize everything again when the Advertising banner has loaded half a minute later.

It's kind of a silly excuse, but people driving with the mouse will know what I'm talking about. Sometimes, a hair or something gets stuck in front of the optic eye, and the mouse just goes berserk in one direction or another. The result is simple, the car steers full left or right and it's an inevitable crash :shrug:

Some things used to happen so much with me, like MSN and antivirus program which makes my game to minimize... that's why now I use STEAM for chatting (ingame chat and voice! a lot better than TeamSpeak) and Norton360 2.0 (it doesn't pops up on the screen unless its something EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, like a new ultra powered virus that can make holes on your HD)

i did loose control once when the gf's 150 pound french mastiff jumped on my knee and the chair legs gave up under the strain :(

Not really an excuse, but a couple of years back now. I dove up the inside of another car on Fern Bay club and the wheel snapped clean off. Went straight into another drivers door.


The wheel was one of those el'cheapo Ferrair 360 knock off's with the combined pedals. Suffice to say my next week never had that problem

During the 2008 Kyoto 500, someone who had retired from the race on Lap 24 or so, had started a private chat in Ventrilo with a car still in the race, this was around lap 50 or so. The guy who he sent the message to was still in the race, in Turn Two. The Private Chat Message overtook his game, and LFS thought he was still turning, and it sent him into the inside wall, catapulted him, and went "Wrong route" to spec. Whoops !

Note to self: disable private chat acceptance while racing in major events. :-)

And I was the Race Director during the event where someone said "The Race Director told me to crash." Be it known that I did not tell anyone to crash. It was a for-fun (off-the-cuff, as it were) 150 or so lap oval FO8 race, and a few of us in Vent were joking that someone should crash so a caution would come out. I said, "Maybe I'll bring out a competition yellow to bring it all together," but when a few drivers said they didn't want that, I dropped the idea. Abotu a minute later, someone did crash (accidental, not intentional), and I had to bring out the SC. The guy who said I told him to crash thought that the crash was intentional to bring out the SC, and actuall intentionally took the guy who crashed out while they were catching the SC queue. Yeah, I did ban him from NDR events for a nice long while.

My g25 brake pedal gave out, for no reason it didnt work, so before race start, I switched braking to clutch pedal... Was all fine, but was locked in a 4way battle for position :D and in the heat of the battle, I lifted my left foot and accidently (i sometimes use clutch..) it automaticly started searching for the brake pedal, I realised this, but man chicane was up front.. :D so a second later braking ... nearly crashed all 4cars xD just nudged tyre stack and other cars ;p

Not really a crash, but i did lol an awful lot, on Race 3 yesterday - it was Aston GT Reversed. I was in a battle with another XFR, coming out of the hairpin on the cadet course, i went over to the right of the track ready for the 'club' chicane, but the dude thought it was Aston GP Reversed, so he went straight on, as I turned into the corner!

God it was funny - and we so nearly crashed aswell :D

I actually crashed once (This is a true story)

Because of the heat my GFX card kicks out, combined with the physical strength needed to drive at 200% force with a G25 (+ heat from that), I have an old fan I had lying around, that I use to keep me cool :razz:

Works fine, had it for years. Always worked no problems.

I put it ontop of my PC case so it blows onto my arms/body.

I turn it on and off as I need to keep me comfortable, however one time, I turned it off, and my wheel and steering imputs locked at what they were. (Happend to be 20degrees ish of lock and full throttle) so I went slamming into the wall. (This was on CTRA btw)

Was leading, basically the entire chasing pack smashed into me, I appologised and explained (they understood thankfully)

Now to turn my fan off I have to lift it off the top of the case. I'm guessing because my case is metal, it maybe shorts out or something. lolol.

That happened to me once...
I've put my wheel, my mouse, my keyboard, a fan and I pulled over my table... after 2 minutes racing everything collapsed and my wheel ended up over my head. I got permabanned from the server before even being able to write anything on the keyboard. It was a incredible crash involving about 6 people :D (this was on a private server july last year.. that server doesn't exist anymore, nor do my table, it's broke in the middle :tilt: )

Well my best excuse for the moment, even if I did not cause a major crash (some bumps and spin other cars), was that sometimes my G25 went off the table and stayed in my hand. With the force, it threw me backwards, so no more access to the pedals...

I used to race with two sets of pedals - one for a clutch, the other for brake/accelerator. Sometimes (OK, often!) when switching from accelerator to brake - needing to heel/toe - I would miss the brake pedal with my toes and so overshoot the pedals completely, or hit the very tip of the brake pedal and flip the whole unit over, or sometimes I'd just kick the pedals away from myself and have to retrieve them with my feet. I didn't have another foot to hold the thing down.

So if I've ever said to you that "my pedal broke" or something similar, it's true!

Well, in the video you might get mistaken that the guy is close to us because of the FOV, he actually was rather far, the aerodynamics weren't even being affected yet, there was no reason to give passage so early (I gave him passage after the next turn).

I was in a bit of a mood with myself one day about just losing concentration for a second and driving myself into the fence, and as i stamped on the throttle pedal to get going again the force of me hitting the pedal pushed me back into the seat, something snapped and the chair folded itself flat onto the floor, with me still sat on what was left of it, bits of sponge and thin splintered plywood everywhere! :nod:

Imagine trying to steer when sat on the floor, whilst trying to use the pedals to get enough pace up to make it around the corner and pull into the centre out of the way, and see where your going, not an easy task! :schwitz:

I did also have the wheel come off the desk one day as well, as someone crept onto the back of my FZ5 and was doing their best to spin me, and as i opposite locked i ran out of lock, and the wheel wrenched itself off the desk with me still holding it.

I managed to slot it loosly back on the bracket thingy and tried to drive one handed whilst holding the wheel body down with the other hand, but by the time i had managed to do this, the person who was trying to spin me had succeeded!

I had also taken 2 massive hits over the front wheels of the car, both sides, and as those of you who have ever had an accident in an FZ will know, it doesnt take much of an impact anywhere on the front of them to totally remove the ability to steer, it pretty much disables the whole car, they are so weak on the front end!

The wheels may turn, but it makes no difference, all it does is go straight!

Not really an excuse, but a couple of years back now. I dove up the inside of another car on Fern Bay club and the wheel snapped clean off. Went straight into another drivers door.


The wheel was one of those el'cheapo Ferrair 360 knock off's with the combined pedals. Suffice to say my next week never had that problem

a while back, when my dog was still a puppy, he chewed some cords for my wheel. After a bunch of shoddy electricianship, my wheel only works when the cord is bent at a certain angle. When goes wrong though, I lose all pedals, but not steering. So I haven't really crashed anyone yet, I just lose power and spectate
